Corruption has been killing Nigeria, and it has almost finished it. Nigeria is still standing because of oil. I believe Dangote understood this, and its why he went into it.

So, the way to generate revenue is to first remove corruption. I am not even asking all to happen overnight, but just in our elections. If this can happen, Nigeria will have a turnaround overnight, and within 20 years, we will become so great.
What is the incentive to reduce corruption if we don’t want teachers and other workers to be employed and well paid for the free education of all children and water supply to all households?

How we foiled Jonathan’s effort to make Mulika Adeola Speaker, Akande reveals

AS president in 2011, Goodluck Jonathan did all he could to ensure South West grabbed the country’s number four seat, including lobbying then opposition leaders from the zone, to no avail. The North West eventually grabbed the seat, supported by South West leaders in opposition to then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Former Governor of Osun State and now statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, made this revelation in his autobiography, “My Participations” which is currently dominating political and national dis- course.

Aminu Tambuwal, now Sokoto State governor, won the seat, against the preferred pick of his party, Mrs Mulikat Adeola Akande, from the South-West. Defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, then a fledging opposition, which had Akande and his soulmate, former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, as front- line leaders, openly asked its elected members of the House of Representatives, mostly from the South-West, to work against their region and back Tambuwal from North-West.

The opposition party’s support carried Tambuwal through the contest against Akande, then ruling party’s favourite for the speakership seat.

In his book, Chief Akande revealed that former president then as incumbent, personally reached out to Tinubu, who is now believed to be nursing presidential aspiration in 2023 and himself, but couldn’t convince them.

He wrote, “President Jonathan, immediately after the meeting (with political parties), called Bola Tinubu aside into a lobby to broach the matter of ACN support for a choice of who would become the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“That same day, President Jonathan talked to me on phone about the same matter. He disclosed that PDP had zoned the position to the South-West but that only one Muraina and another Mulika won elections on PDP ticket from the zone into the House of Representatives.

I am not against any child taking care of his/her parents; however, we are misplacing priorities. This mentality is what made China his over 1B population, and its affecting India too. And then, China's one child policy in those days was too brutal, and it is affecting them again in that the young population is low. So, there must be a balance.

What I see here on this thread (especially commments above mine) is a nation about to collapse because its people has refused to develop the healthcare. Elderly care is one of the main priorities in healthcare, but Nigeria has zero provision. So, most people rely on their kids. The dad story is that they dont even know. Laying emphasis that one must have children (not even a child or 2) is compulsory. Why? Old age insurance. This is wrong.

Lets be realistic here. Taking care of the old is not an obligation, but taking care of kids you brought to this world is, until they turn 18. This is the law.

Now, lets talk of the blessing in it. According to the Bible and many other religious books, there is a blessing in it, and it is true. Even when the system takes in the elderly, I know some kind kids who went extra miles to take care of them. Some of them refused to let them use the public provision. So, it is an advise to take care of the old but not an obligation.

Now, when you decide to invest in yours so they care care of you during old age is a bad investment. I read about investing in kids. Kids are not assets we invest in. We are obliged to raise them well, and not invest in them. I see this mindset everywhere. So, when the kids did not reciprocate the investment, parents start complaining. If you dont take care of your kids until they are 18, they will take them from you in developed nations which is how it should be. I am ao sorry for you if you are among those who have thing mentality of investing in children so they can take care of you later. You invest well so you can take care of yourself at least financially. Finance is the main thing. Train them well to be kind and not be thieves. And have your money. When you grow old, they will use tour money and add theirs to take care of you. But when you ask them to care for you permanently, you are wicked. You took care of their needs for max of 25 - 30. Some didnt even do it up to 18 years. Yet, you want them to be funding your needs immediately they start working. You want the first born to take care of your responsibilities and start funding the younger ones. You are wicked. Yes, you are. You invested in the boy or girl for just 24 years, and you expect him to carry the burden of 6 other ones you gave birth to for like 10 years. And then take care of you from like 45 years to 90 year. A solid 30+ years. Mainwhile your care is so expensive. Why? Its when the kid is a baby you spend, but as soon as he is 6+ years, level don change. Everything is management. But its only education. See, what you will collect from that kid is more.

So, your thought is that let me have 10 kids so they can share the bill. Lol. This is how we got to 300M population. Now, these kids cant find jobs. Our GPD is not bad, but check out our GDP per Capita. We are too many. Those who are criticising Tinubu will criticise Obi or Atiku or Sowore because we are just too many and no matter how good our economy is, it will take time for everyone to feel the development. This is a story for another time.

So, lets change our perspective. We need to fight for a good health system which includes the old and people with disabilities. We dont care for these two groups. This is extremely bad.

Goodluck to everyone.
How is this not a joke and misplaced priority for our country of jobless, unproductive, extreme poverty paupers with the highest number of children out of school?

How do we generate government revenue for good health systems to cater for old people without education to work in jobs that create value?

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.

There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.

Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.

The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.

While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.

“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.

“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.

“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”

Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.

Anambra distributes 177 vehicles to traditional rulers

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, on Monday in Awka, distributed one SUV each to the traditional rulers of the 177 communities in the state.

Obi handed over one of the vehicles’ key to the state Chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Obi of Onitsha.

He said that the gesture was aimed at helping them run and build better communities, adding that the vehicles would also help the traditional rulers to function effectively.

“If you have better communities, you will have a better Anambra, Anambra today is changing for better and I want this sustained,” the governor said.

“In doing that, the state government and the local government will do what it can to support the building of a better Anambra.”

Achebe said that he was overjoyed because the governor cared about the well-being and welfare of the traditional rulers.

“It is completely unprecedented in Anambra and probably elsewhere in Nigeria,” he said.

“It is a mighty gesture from the governor and for the government of the state to make a distinct impact on the well-being of the traditional rulers in the state.”

According to him, it was one of the several measures the present administration in the state had taken to improve the wellbeing of the traditional rulers.

“We pray that God will give us a successor that will continue from where Obi has left and lift Anambra to the next level.”

The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Oyo State, Tawfiq Akinwale, on Wednesday stated that the “President-elect” Bola Tinubu asked popular economist, Prof Pat Utomi to step down for Peter Obi in the buildup to the 2023 general elections.

Akinwale made this revelation while he appeared as a guest on a radio programme on 101.7 YES FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, while alleging that Obi received campaign funds from Utomi, whom he described as Tinubu's "son."

The LP aspirant, who spoke in Yoruba language, said "In the buildup to the 2023 elections, Obi who had purchased the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suddenly announced his exit from the party.

"Initially, Pat Utomi had secured the LP's presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi said he resigned from the PDP and joined the LP. Bola Tinubu, a master political strategist, quickly told Utomi, that everyone knows to be his son to step down for Obi.

"The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

"What Peter Obi didn't know is much more that what he knows, he started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu was giving the money to Utomi.

"This went on until Obi's presidential campaign got to a stage it went beyond target. Obi was used without him knowing," Akinwale said after announcing his departure from the party.

Obi defected to the LP after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and also withdrawing from the presidential race under the party.

The former governor consequently joined the race for the party’s presidential ticket, while Professor Pat Utomi, in June 2022 stepped down for him to emerge as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, unopposed in Asaba, Delta State.

Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.

Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.

His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.

The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993

It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.

Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.

He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.

“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’

Ofunaofu:
Report: Current Govt Added More Debt in Two Years Than Nigeria Accumulated in 55 Years

• Decries Nigeria’s debt service-to-revenue ratio

•Urges FG to declare fiscal emergency

A new policy brief has warned that Nigeria’s worsening debt profile and weak revenue generation have pushed the country into a dangerous fiscal position, with the current administration accumulating more debt in two years than Nigeria recorded during its first 55 years after independence.

The report, released by the Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics LTD/GTE, a Nigerian policy think tank, argued that the country’s debt crisis has evolved into a governance and revenue emergency, as debt servicing obligations now exceed the federal government’s retained earnings.
>
>
According to the think tank, Nigeria’s public debt rose sharply from N87.38 trillion in June 2023 to N159.28 trillion by the end of 2025, with President Bola Tinubu’s administration accounting for about N65.9 trillion of the increase within its first two years in office.

The organisation in the brief titled: “Nigeria Is Borrowing to Breathe—and the Clock Is Ticking”, noted that Nigeria accumulated only about N12.06 trillion in debt from independence in 1960 up to 2015, meaning the current administration added more than five times that amount in just 24 months.

The report stated that while previous governments also contributed significantly to the country’s rising debt burden, the speed of accumulation under the current administration had intensified concerns over fiscal sustainability.

“President Bola Tinubu’s administration has added a further N65.9 trillion in just two years. To put that in perspective: it took Nigeria’s first 55 years of independence to accumulate N12 trillion in debt. The current administration has added more than five times that amount in 24 months,” it argued.

It recalled that Nigeria briefly became almost debt-free externally after the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo secured an $18 billion Paris Club debt relief package in 2005 and paid $12 billion to extinguish about $30 billion in external obligations.

No good roads in the state, no water, no security, everywhere is dirty, you sat on local government allocations yet you have the gut to declare for presidency!

This guy deserves to be in prison for at least 8yrs after his time as governor.
Life is really hard and tough for the blind.

May Allah help you to overcome this blindness.

If you have 10million naira in your account today u re a broke man
Can you imagine how heartless Tinubu wickedly bragged about impoverishing people? shocked

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

While Makinde has cleared his promise of six months wage awards and adding three months to it, the master strategist of a-looter propaganda politics has failed to finish paying his six months wage award announced in October 2023!

If a state governor who gets 1/36 share of the 27% for all governors can do this and more, then why not Tinubu who alone gets 53% of the FAAC?

fergie001:
We are going through a challenging period economically. I put out a video, yes, our FAAC has gone up but when I came in here the first salary bill I signed was ₦4.5b but today the salary bill is ₦18b. In all of these, the minimum wage then was ₦18000, and today it's ₦80000 but the ₦18000 then can even buy more than what the ₦80000 will get you today. That's the kind of voodoo economics they brought to us. So, we have to sit down, NLC, because our people are challenged economically. The resources are limited but the wage award which ended in September I will extend for another three months. Our subsidy on transport we will continue with it and so again, I want thank all of you especially the workers for your dedication , commitment and support.

This is very not correct and is very wrong. UK does not see foreign students as parasites at all, and in fact needs them to subsidise the UK education system. Unfortunately, foreign students are seeming to be finding better places to go get their education, and have abandoned UK. And the reduction in revenue due to the fall has left many universities struggling financially.

Giving education and providing jobs are 2 separate things. Foreign students are expected to leave the country after their education.

I am sure that Nigerian students in the United Kingdom, especially Tinubu fans are hurriedly coming back to Nigeria.

Ṣebi their master strategist has crashed petrol prices below N185, achieved his short term goal of N300/$1, and has created 50 million jobs among the many promises he made before grabbing power from Buhari in 2023!

This is why it's been difficult for the East to rule this country. They are their own worst enemies. They have a good chance in Peter Obi but even his own Anambra people have been his greatest detractors while Yoruba groups like Afenifere, OBJ, Farotimi, Isaac Fayose etc have continued to support him.
Full Disclosure: I am not Obidient, just a political observer.
How can a tribalistic person claim to be a political observer?

Obi is one of most corrupt soul alive.God punish his big head
If obi is one of the most corrupt souls then Tinubu is the undisputed master strategist of corrupt souls.

If he is not, then why is he selling petrol so expensive while he continues to pay subsidy illegally to importers of their Malta blending plants, even though he falsely claimed that subsidy is gone huh
