spiSeyi: While the empty head Wike ball sucker in Oyo state has suddenly become overnight real estate business mogul. Instead of using aerable Oyo state land to improve food production nah empty offices and housing estates he dey build Why so much bile and lies when you are not an ignoramus nonentity How our agric revolution is delivering dividends, by Gov Makinde
But the most impressive of the projects is the Fashola Farms, a farm settlement built by the administration of Pa Obafemi Awolowo in the late 1950s. He has revived the farm which had been abandoned for decades, and the quantum of activities on that farm as well as the deliverables across the agric value chain would benefit the people, smallholder farmers, as well as the major farmers. To take care of one of the major challenges, which is the federal road leading to Fashola Farms, Makinde applied to the federal government to permit him to reconstruct the road. After the usual tiff between the federal and state governments for two years, he was allowed to take it over from the federal government. Therefore, the Oyo/Iseyin road, which leads directly to the farm and the Iseyin/Ogbomoso Road (about 140 kms), which Makinde has constructed, has opened up the state and linked major towns. At Fashola Farms, with its innovation and science-based farming activities, it became clearer how agriculture can drive the economy of most states in Nigeria if the state governors apply rigour and are deliberate and intentional in their approach.
You’ve been talking about agri-business for a while. How is it going?
At Fashola Farms here, it is about providing the enabling environment and infrastructure.
The hub is built on 1,250 hectares of land, and every aspect of the land is being occupied. We are at the industrial site now, and we have 10 industries that are built here. Of those 10 industries, eight of them are completely occupied, meaning that there are companies already doing business here. We have green houses here as you can see over there and each of the buildings there is on two hectares of land. All the facilities here are built by the Oyo State Government with the exception of the green houses. Of the eight factories, two of them are going to be processing Cashew, another two will be processing vegetables and so on.

mctech: Exactly!
A friend in Lagos was telling me how government leases/sells lots in farming estates with effective management and regulations and even supplies them with inputs at subsidized rate.
I began to wonder why other states are not doing it.
From my personal experience, agriculture is a low hanging fruit which anyone can do in Nigeria. I now eat vegetables I planted and chicken I reared. Is this how China and South Korea plus Singapore became prosperous for everyone, with modern infrastructures in their cities and towns Or they moved people away from subsistence farming into factories and firms for quality service provision owned by private conglomerates, based on free education for all their children, water supply, electricity etc? Do you want us Nigerians and blacks to forever remain the scumbags of the earth |

Lithiumite: Keep blaming tinubu rather than blaming your state govs for not being proactive enough to promote initiatives such as this to boost local economy.....every state in Nigeria has land that can be developed for modern agriculture to improve productivity.
If you have clusters such as this you are indirectly bringing development to those hitherto undeveloped parts of the state by providing social amenities, infrastructure and security......bandits and killer herdsmen don't thrive in developed communities.
Many youths are wasting away in the cities riding okada and doing other menial jobs while leaving the lands fallow, why won't food be expensive.......this is directly under the purview of state govs and not tinubu......that's why we always laugh at those always blaming tinubu for the lacuna we have found ourselves. Was Tinubu proactive enough as governor for eight years to employ government workers to provide water, sanitation, mass transit, free basic education and basic healthcare to boost the economy from the multiplier effect of money in circulation plus private enterprises running factories and services firms? What example did he give with his rotten master plan for lootocracy that has wrecked the state into one of the worst global cities, despite huge revenue and budget growth since 1999 obonujoker: Liveability indicators 1 — 🥷Stability 2 — 🏥Healthcare 3 — 🪘Culture & Environment 4 — 📚Education 5 — 🚧Infrastructure

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.
The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.
Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

BeeBeeOoh: The party said Tinubu has further confirmed the insensitivity of his administration towards the plight and demands by Nigerians which clearly authenticates PDP’s position that there is no hope in sight under the “clueless, insensitive and unresponsive APC-led government.”
According to the PDP, “the failure of the speech to respond to the cries of millions of Nigerians that President Tinubu eases their suffering by reviewing life-suffocating policies of his government also validates concerns in the public space of an emerging totalitarianism where certain individuals or group of individuals are benefitting from the travail of the people.
“It is indeed shocking that Mr. President’s speech practically trivialized the very grave issues of pervasive economic hardship, unemployment, acute poverty, widespread hunger and starvation in our country- for which Nigerians took to the streets in August this year- by claiming that about 10% of Nigerians have been plunged into hunger when confirmed reports show that over 100 million Nigerians can no longer afford their daily meals and other basic necessities of life under the APC watch. Is this not a more productive way to engage with the public, highlighting how Tinubu and APC policy failures impacts them negatively, instead of focusing on the unhelpful issue of presidential term and zoning rotations below Hopefully PDP politicians will stay on track to constantly remind us of Buhari, Tinubu and APC failures causing untold havoc on us, if they are ever going to replace the current governance olodos of Aso Rock. Kuginzi: A former Vice President and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has written to the National Assembly, requesting an amendment to the Constitution to allow for a six-year single term for the President and state governors.

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.
One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.
Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

It asserted that any person with even one ancestor of black ancestry ("one drop" of black blood)[1][2] is considered black (Negro or colored in historical terms).
This concept became codified into the law of some states in the early 20th century. It was associated with the principle of "invisible blackness" that developed after the long history of racial interaction in the South, which had included the hardening of slavery as a racial caste and later segregation. It is an example of hypodescent, the automatic assignment of children of a mixed union between different socioeconomic or ethnic groups to the group with the lower status, regardless of proportion of ancestry in different groups.[3]
The one-drop rule is defunct in law in the United States and was never codified into federal law. |

The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State Chapter, has said the Lagos State Government has quit the Sunborn Yacht Hotel. The party said it was a bad business and the government had abandoned the deal.
The controversial yacht, valued at about N8bn, is an inshore boat hotel.
The state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party had recently accused the state government of corruption. It challenged the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, to speak out on the whereabouts of the yacht and the two helicopters bought by his administration for security surveillance of the state.
The state Chairman, PDP, Mr. Tunji Shelle, while addressing party faithful during the General Assembly of the chapter, had said, “After floating miserably on the Marina water for so long, the controversial Sunburn Yacht, which cost the Lagos State Government, under (former Governor) Bola Tinubu, a whooping N8bn suddenly disappeared, only to be sighted at Thames in England.
“Now, the question is: who orchestrated this 419 and who were the beneficiaries of this waste of public fund. This is certainly a fraud and (Governor Babatunde) Fashola must tell us something he knows about this fraud, failure which he remains an accessory after the fact in the fraud.”
While reacting in an online interview with our correspondent on Saturday, the state Interim Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said the state government took a bad business decision on the yacht and had done away with it.

Convener of Save Nigeria Group (SNG) and vice presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Pastor Tunde Bakare, has expressed confidence that the mass protest against the removal of fuel subsidy will continue until the President Goodluck Jonathan government reverts N65 as price of a litre of petrol.
His confidence is anchored on the enthusiasm of Nigerians and their response to the call to resist the removal of fuel subsidy.
Bakare told Saturday Sun that the protest has taken a life of its own and therefore, would not fizzle out like other protests before it. He pointed out that the people attending the mass rally on daily basis, since last Monday, are not being paid to do so. Also, he said, musicians are not paid to perform at the rallies, adding that the SNG is not spending much to organize the rally holding daily at Ojota, Lagos.
He warned that angry Nigerians may move to the next stage of the protest, which he described as occupying Nigeria, if the government does not recant, although he did not elaborate on what this would entail. The pastor lambasted the Jonathan administration and called for a revolution.
http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2012/jan/14/national-14-01-2011-05.html Omooba77: A former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, said the protest that trailed the fuel subsidy removal during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012 was due to political interests.
Fayemi said this in his keynote address delivered at a national dialogue organised to celebrate the 60th birthday celebration of the founding National Secretary of Alliance for Democracy and Fellow, Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Professor Udenta Udenta in Abuja.
The programme was attended by Jonathan, former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili; former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, among others.
The PUNCH reports that on January 1, 2012, President Goodluck announced the removal of fuel subsidy and adjusted the pump price of petrol from N65 per litre to N141.
The decision sparked mass protests, tagged ‘Occupy Nigeria’ across major cities of the country.
The price was later re-adjusted to N97, after more than a week of protests.
Petrol price was later reduced to N87 in 2015.
Jonathan faced serious backlash for the fuel price adjustment, especially from leaders of the All Progressives Congress, who were then in different opposition parties, including the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Congress for Progressives Congress, All Nigeria Peoples Party, and All Progressive Grand Alliance.
