Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.

Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.

His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.

The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993

It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.

Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.

He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.

“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’

What of Ribadu's EFCC that he rubbished just to protect Ibori who bankrolled the Iwuruwuru INEC election Obasanjo organised to shut out Atiku and Buhari in 2007 huh

24th May, 2010

Ribadu Reinstated As AIG, Retired

The Police Service Commission, PSC, has reinstated the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Malam Nuhu Ribadu as an Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, with effect from 22 December, 2008.

The PSC made the announcement today in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

However, the commission converted Ribadu’s dismissal from the force to retirement.

Ribadu, who was promoted AIG during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo was demoted from that rank to Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, in November, 2007, after he was removed as EFCC chairman in 2007 and sent on a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Jos.

About two weeks ago, Ribadu’s name was struck off the security watch list. This was after the Code of Conduct Tribunal dropped charges against him.

Ribadu, who has been on self exile in the United States of America following alleged threats to his life, was declared wanted by the police last year after he failed to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.

The Justice Constance Momoh-led three-man panel issued a bench warrant against Ribadu for failing to honour its invitation.

The former EFCC boss was accused of not declaring his asset as required of a public servant while in office.

EFCC, now headed by Farida Waziri, also accused him of fraudulently benefiting from the sale of properties seized from convicted felons such as former governor of Bayelsa State, Alamieyeseigha, former Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun, 419 kingpin, Emmanuel Nwude and others.

Ribadu denied the allegation, saying he was not involved in the sale of the seized properties.

FashoFashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'

Jul 11, 2014.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.

According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.

"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.

” In 16 years hundreds of billions of naira have been spent and we cannot switch on electricity and in seven years we have created four plants. It shows that something is missing. So unless you vote for All Progressive Congress it is going to be difficult to have electricity.

“They started from vision 2020-20 and I told you then that they were having a nightmare, that there was no vision.

“They moved to seven point agenda and now they are transforming.”

FG, States, LGs Share N568.4 Billion for Oct
15 NOVEMBER 2013

Also, $1billion was proposed for distribution to complement shortfall in expected revenue." The $1billion is a compromise by the FG over its words in September not to augment shortfalls anymore.

Responding to the presentation, the chairman of the States Commissioners of Finance and Ebonyi State Commissioner of Finance, Mr Timothy Odaah, lamented that the statutory allocation was getting smaller and smaller. "It appears this is the worst in terms of returns. This is the least in allocations as far as this year is concerned. We are mourning the dearth of funds and this is a wakeup call for states and local governments to buoy up their internally generated revenue."

While appreciating the "magnanimity" of President Goodluck Jonathan to approve the $1billion from the excess crude account and to be shared among the federal, state and local governments, Odaah expressed disappointment with the returns made by the NNPC.

He said that the states had requested for $2bn to complement for the shortfall in revenue but got only $1billion. In September, Odaah and fellow commissioners had walked out of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) when the federal government said that the framework of the 2013 budget was no longer realistic and it won't augment shortfall in revenue. Odaah raised issues with the statutory allocations of previous months.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: My Terrible Experience Applying For A High Paying Remote Job by anonimi: 12:46pm On May 06, 2024
BucketMan:
I don't know if some of you might remember this thread i made https://www.nairaland.com/8006821/should-go-masters-degree-remai where i contemplated going for a masters degree instead of remaining jobless at home. Well after assimilating all the advice i got from that thread, i decided to kill two birds with one stone and apply for the masters degree while also getting a laptop to start an online business in writing and copywriting which is where my passion lies.

Shortly after i got the laptop i found a creative writing opportunity via reddit and applied. One of the requirements for the job was to have a really fast typing speed (minimum of 60 words per minute). I just got my laptop so my typing speed was really slow but i resolved to increase it by practicing daily for a month and i grew from 35wpm to 62wpm which the job required.

That was just the beginning, the recruitment process for the job was done through a platform called Discord and they had a specific writing style that they wanted to inculcate in the applicants via daily trainings after which you will have to pass some exams. I started actively training for about a month and felt i was confident enough to take the intro exam, which i did and performed excellently so i moved on to the last stage.

Now this is where things got kind of complicated because this last stage required me to share my laptop screen in real time, kinda like a video call and prepare creative writing scripts for different scenarios that will be provided also in real time. The session was supervised by the recruiters and would last for 4 hours. I was fully locked in and confident in all that i had already learnt from training, However, the time for the test came and i was given a resource to download that i would use in writing these scripts. After downloading, setting it up on my laptop and then hopping on the live video call with the supervisors, i could not for the life of me get it to run efficiently, it was extremely slow and kept giving me a connection error feedback, I use MTN 4G and can't believe that the network chose that moment to start acting up. I still don't know if the real culprit is my laptop (2017 hp elitebook) or MTN network but after i switched to 3g and tried to hop back on the call to apologize to the supervisors for having a network glitch, i realized they had already blocked me, so i wasn't even given a chance to showcase my skills and this is what pains me most.

This is the reason that was given: "poor internet on a remote job, i'm sorry but it cannot work".

I'm so devastated, all the effort, time and resources invested into becoming a perfect fit for the job has been washed away in a blink. Now, i'm back home in my mom's house, in shame and defeat, with less than #1k to my name having used all my savings to get the laptop and for data subscriptions. I'm just lost on what to do right now, i have been admitted but i can't even go for the masters i applied for anymore and i was thinking to myself that even though i had gotten the job, how would i have kept up with the 8 hours per shift work schedule when there is very epileptic power supply where i live.

Is success still possible in Nigeria for those that are still struggling? or are we all doomed to fail again and again, especially for those of us looking to succeed online. I'm 26 atm and i don't know how long this will continue, it's just like all the forces of nature are working against me being rich and successful. Where can i find the motivation to search for something else to do in order to be productive when everything always ends in failure? is there even anything else to do?

Sorry for the long post, just thought i should share my experience and this is like the only platform that i can vent due to not really having anyone to talk to irl.
How many of us realise the effect of our nonchalance towards the political and governance processes has on our individual success?

If we are more engaged in various public policy issues, why would we not have reliable internet, stable power and less unethical fellow citizens emerging as leaders in business, politics, religion etc huh

The ranking placed Nigeria in 186th position, only after Haiti, among 187 countries of the world. Nigeria also ranked worst in Africa. Nigeria’s low voter turnout

PREMIUM TIMES had reported how Nigeria recorded a new low in voter turnout during the last general elections. With a national turnout of 29 per cent, a Premium Times analysis showed that the last election had the lowest participation rate in the country’s six decades of independence.

It further revealed that of the 93.4 million registered voters this year, 87.2 million people collected their Permanent Voters Card and the total number of actual voters on election day was only 24.9 million..The winner of the election, Bola Tinubu, had less than nine million votes, roughly 10 per cent of the total eligible voters.

Another analysis by this newspaper revealed that all the 18 candidates in Nigeria’s February elections received only 27.55 per cent of the total eligible votes.

The new ranking
Meanwhile, the new ranking by Picodi revealed that Nigeria’s average voter turnout in the last three election cycles is 29.15 per cent, slightly lower than 21.58 per cent recorded in Haiti, which got the worst record in the ranking.

Other countries in the last five but which did better than Nigeria, according to the rankings, are Afghanistan (32.71 per cent), Egypt (32.80 per cent), Algeria (33.33 per cent) and Tunisia (35.00 per cent). Libya has a 39.79 per cent voter turnout average, according to the ranking.

Eight of the last 10 countries in the bottom of the list are in African. The two non-African countries are Romania, with 40.92 per cent average turn out and world’s lowest record holder, Haiti.

by a dysfunctional democracy..i spelt that out, how did you not see that?

You used Nigeria as an example, and rightly so. Our dominant group are archaic, and so thanks to democracy which is a game of numbers we largely remain archaic, cos unlike I who is exposed and educated and have two children, they at 15/16 years old probably already have more children than I do, and has been so for as long as I can remember. Southern Nigeria isn't the bloc fuelling the population explosion over the last 30 years, northern Nigeria is.

My parent's generation, average number of children born no fit pass 3. Our generation, pretty sure the average is 1

That's how
If non Hausa-Fulani groups are BETTER quality than the Hausa-Fulanis, why have they not come together to make the democracy work in their favour to dominate? Did something like that not happen in 2011 presidential election?

Are there not 17/36 % senators and representatives from the south with 6/36 % from the Middle Belt and a few significant minorities in the NE and NW who can have an absolue 2/3rd majority for amending/changing laws and the constitution huh

The Hausa-Fulani MAY (but certainly the core Fulanis are) actually be less than Yorubas and Igbos but have ROPED in the northern minorities to create the illusion of greater numbers.

My point remains that the Hausa-Fulanis have BETTER quality than we noisemakers in the south. Much better quality to dominate us.

I was surprised she's asking for mercy when she doesn't have any to give. NONSENSE GIRL.

This girl has master the act of seducing men, through love bombing to make you become so attached to her, luckily for the guy he told me he's starting to like her and see her differently, but I told him with concrete evidence she's just painting a false pic of herself...

I'm satisfied 😌

Can't post all chats but the chats was very long.

Did I do wrong?

She wicked me,I just do my own back...and they guy even loved the chat he had with me.
If you don't care, then why are you asking strangers if you did wrong?

Why are you so confused? This must be why she was able to deal with you into a pussywhipped wimp and traumatise you anyhow.

sorry, just went back to re-check his post, and saw that he didn't put that there. So I will rightly help him upgrade/flesh up that concept.

The quality of the dominant group matters o. As you have rightly identified, as in the case of Nigeria, when the dominant group is still largely archaic, then we have what we have. Which is one of the reasons why we wonder how we keep getting the worst of us in the so-called democracy. It is cos the numbers of those who DONT have any semblance of sense far outstrips the number of those who do.

The dominant racial group we have is plagued with willful poverty and a gross aversion to education, and thus a progressive existence....and that is one of the prime reasons we are where we are today. They know this and carry the badge of their huge numbers with pride.... unfortunately doing so ninu oshi at ise (lack and despondency), and dragging the rest of the country into the abyss.

Democrat is actually govt of the majority of the people....but when the quality of that majority is shit, then you are doomed. Will our domina block somehow in no time become wiser, more enlightened, more educated? your guess is as good as mine.

Maybe in 300 years
When are you going to explain how a dominant group without quality is able to dominate those with quality huh

he spoke about the quality of the dominant group.
If the dominant group does not have quality, then how did they become and remain dominant of other groups that have quality?

How do you resolve this inconsistency huh

That guy, Jmoore is mad....

comparing a country where the least earner earns over 250k to a country were the wage is a miserable 30k.
He needs to be flog
And that is the fault of DSTv, not the fault of the cluelessly incompetent leaders we keep allowing to loot us in the LGA level up, right?

Did you say someone is mad huh
