Macphenson: I am going to speak from a professional point of view as an Engineer and somebody that has been building in Lagos State for the past 15 years.
The Lagos State regulatory Laws for buildings are more of extortionary than regulatory, this is the reason why people keep finding ways to bypass the laws.
There is a reason why developers keep avoiding the buidling permits and other permits in Lagos not because they dont want to be compliant but because of the tedious process, the bureaucasis and the unnecessary protocols involved.
First and formost building permits should be done by the Local governments as it is done in sane climes and not by one office in Alausa. It takes about a year before your building permits will be out that is if you "bribe" very well. Thats not good enough for businesses. Building permit should be out max three months. Some developers take bank loan to build, imagine taking loan for a project and the interest running for a year before commencement of the project. You definitely know what you’re talking about sir. Many thanks for sharing your insights. |

Nigeria has dropped five places on the 2021 corruption perception index published by Transparency International (TI).
In the 2021 index released on Tuesday, the country scored 24 out of 100 points — ranking 154 out of 180 countries.
In the 2020 index, Nigeria had scored 25 out of 100 points, ranking 149 out of the 180 countries surveyed.
The development means that Nigeria dropped to 154 — five places down — out of the 180 countries surveyed, in comparison with the 2020 rating.
It also scored 25 out of 100 points — less than the 24 points obtained in the 2020 CPI.
This is the worst ranking the country has got under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In 2015, Nigeria was ranked 136th; 136th in 2016; 148th in 2017; 144th in 2018; 146th in 2019, and 149th in 2020.

At the mentioning of RUSSIO
All western countries shivers
Russia,here i come
Country without racism You have no clue what you’re talking about. No clue whatsoever!!! Russian hypocrisy and the death of a Zambian student in Ukraine
Lemekhani Nyirenda’s life and death expose the fallacy of Russian anti-imperialist rhetoric on Africa.
On December 11, the remains of 23-year-old Zambian citizen Lemekhani Nyirenda finally made it back home to his family. A month earlier, the Zambian government had released a statement on his death in Ukraine, which raised more questions than answers.
Subsequently, it became clear that Nyirenda, who studied in Russia before being imprisoned on drug charges, had signed up for the Wagner Group, a Russian mercenary company, to fight in Ukraine in a bid to get a reduced sentence.
In a November 29 post on the Russian social media platform VKontakte, Wagner founder Evgeny Prigozhin claimed he spoke to Nyirenda, who allegedly told him he had volunteered because: “You, Russian, helped us Africans gain independence. When it was difficult for us, you stretched out a hand to us and continue to do this now. Wagner is saving thousands of Africans; going to war with you is paying back for at least some of our debt to you.” > > > It is quite ironic that Prigozhin alleges Nyirenda saw the Wagner Group as a source for good given that it has been at the forefront of Moscow’s extractive policies in Africa. Wagner has become infamous in Sudan and the Central African Republic for both its hired guns and its involvement in illicit mining operations.
The group has also had a hand in military conflicts plaguing Libya, the Central African Republic, Mali and Mozambique. The United Nations has accused the Russian mercenaries of committing a host of human rights abuses, including harassment of civilians, wrongful detainment, torture and summary executions.
Russia does not treat Africans that much better within its own borders either. As Nyirenda’s case illustrates, Africans who come to Russia to study or work do not find the post-colonial, anti-imperialist paradise Moscow claims to be.
Africans have faced racism and anti-Black violence, which was particularly deadly in the 2000s and 2010s. In a 2006 report, Amnesty International said African students and asylum seekers they met in Russia “avoided going out after dark and one covered his face with a scarf so his skin colour was less conspicuous to passers-by”. They also detailed several murders of African students, including the 2004 stabbing of Bissau-Guinean student Amaru Antoniu Lima and the 2006 shooting of Senegalese student Lamsar Samba Sell.

Former Presidential Aide, Reno Omokri has blasted the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai for withdrawing his son from Nigerian public school, IgbereTV reports.

Taking to Instagram, Reno Omokri wrote;
"So, Nasir @NElRufai can withdraw his son from school because bandits and killer herdsmen want to kill him, yet he condemns Sunday Igboho and Nnamdi Kanu for wanting to withdraw from Nigeria when the same bandits and killer herdsmen kill their people. Is this not hypocrisy?
Seeing as El-Rufai said he withdrew his son from a public school because bandits and kidnappers were targeting him, it is time we question his sanity. Does he have Multiple Personality Disorder? Was he not the same man defending bandits on BBC News Pidgin saying they are just doing “business” and are not a threat to one Nigeria? So let him leave his son in that school since they are only doing their business.

Published 8 months ago on October 4, 2021By Tunde Osunfemi
A former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has been named in a global tax evasion scandal and investigative reporting carried out by more than 600 journalists in 117 countries.
The investigation is called Pandora Papers.
The BBC writes that the “Pandora Papers is a leak of almost 12 million documents that reveal hidden wealth, tax avoidance and, in some cases, money laundering by some of the world’s rich and powerful.”
The Pandora Papers details how rich and powerful individuals from across the world– including more than 330 politicians from 90 countries–launder money by setting up businesses in tax havens like the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin Islands, as well as in countries like Switzerland and Singapore.
These places are called ‘tax havens’ because it is easy to set up companies there, there have laws that make it difficult to identify owners of companies and there is low or no corporation tax within their jurisdictions.
Peter Obi used his daughter’s name According to Premium Times, a Nigerian publication that was part of the global investigation under the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) umbrella in Washington DC, Obi discreetly set up a company called Gabriella Investments Limited, in the British Virgin Island.
He named the company Gabriella Investments Limited, after his daughter Gabriella Nwamaka.
Obi, the online newspaper reports, first approached Acces International, a secrecy enabler in Monaco, France, to help him incorporate an offshore entity in one of the world’s most notorious tax-havens.
Acces International then contracted a local registered agent – Aleman Cordero Galindo & Lee Trust (BVI) Limited (Alcogal) — to set up Gabriella Investments Limited for Obi.
Gabriella Investment Limited was born on November 17, 2010.
On the same day the company was incorporated, the nominee directors met and issued 50,000 shares of Gabriella Investment in favour of Hill International Holding Corporation, a shell International Business Company operating under the laws of Belize, another tax haven.
The director of the company is Mr. Van Vuuren, who is also one of the directors of Gabriella Investment.
Change of name and breaking Nigeria’s laws
Gabriella Investment is now known as PMGG Investments Limited in what is a combination of the first letters of the first names of Obi’s nuclear family: P for Peter (ex-governor), M for Margaret (the ex-governor’s wife), G for Gabriella (the ex-governor’s daughter) and G for Gregory (the ex-governor’s son).
Obi has also created a trust known as The Gabriella Settlement, an entity also registered in the BVI.
The Gabriella Settlement is the sole shareholder of PMGG Investments.
Obi also incorporated another company called Next International (UK) Limited on May 16, 1996, in London.
Investigations show that Obi continued to act as director of Next International (UK) Limited for 14 months after becoming Governor of Anambra State, thereby breaking Nigeria’s laws.
In Nigeria, a person is statutorily obligated to withdraw from engaging in or directing a private business, upon becoming a public officer, as stipulated in Section Six (6) of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.
Obi resigned from Next International on May 16, 2008, 14 months after he assumed duties as Anambra Governor.
Obi also contravened Section 11 of the 1999 constitution (as amended) which stipulates that public officers are required to declare “immediately after taking office and thereafter all” their properties, assets, and liabilities and those of his (or her) unmarried children under the age of eighteen years.
Investigations have revealed that Obi did not declare the companies he tucked away in offshore secrecy havens to the Code of Conduct Bureau.
Asked about his offshore assets and shell companies, Obi told Premium Times that: “I am sure you too will not like to pay inheritance tax if you can avoid it.”
Obi, 60, was PDP’s vice presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections.
He often preaches frugality, parsimony, anti-corruption, lean governments, and probity every other day on prime-time television.
He also once told the world that he owns only one wristwatch, even though images of him at different events showed him wearing different brands of pricey wristwatches.

SoNature: Alex Otti should name a big project after Professor Barth Nnaji! That man has to be the most patriotic Igbo man in this generation! Is he not the owner of Geometric that is providing uninterrupted and stable electricity to Aba for it to renew its industries and displace Lagos as the highest VAT contributor Will that decongest Lagos and make Igbos stay in Abia state with Yorubas and other tribes flocking there as they are currently doing to Lagos for further development of the metropolis? |

rotadeco27: You see that is the issue! You can not work for the government or other organizations and really make it good in life. Iam a professional and yet never have any thought of working for anyone nor the government. Plan multiple streams of income ,no matter how little ,it will shock a financial need or some. Just look around you ,there is a challenge or some challenges facing people that u can provide solutions to and get paid as rewards.
The nation can not get any where by this our mentality of working and earn salary. One of the streams of business I was talking about is faming, do not be ashamed of any legitimate hustle that will put food on you table. Should we then scrap the government altogether? How should we organise the provision of common services like: - basic education and healthcare, - roads, gutters and their maintenance, - electricity, - law & order, security- monitoring private businesses to prevent exploitation of the masses How do you propose this should be done without local, state and federal governments employing enough professional workers for these tasks |

SoNature: I have repeatedly said that the federal government should ban ALL Nigerian males from travelling to Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Cyprus and Cambodia.
Those people just go there to push drugs. Those countries have no tangible opportunities for foreigners.
If you have any business with anyone from that country and you two have to meet, meet in an nearby country or the person should come down to Nigeria.
Our politicians, yahoo boys, drug dealers and prostitutes have sworn to totally tarnish the image of this country Who do they share the money with for hailing and honours- the "innocent" masses |

okoro: The flatness of the head gave the culprit out How flat is ThiefNuibu's head Racoon: Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.
Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.
His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.
The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993
It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.
Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.
He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.
“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’

helinues: Then go and hustle, NL no dey put food on the members table Hustle when ThiefNuibu and other politicians are looting money that should employ workers to create the environment for private businesses to flourish and employ even more workers?Government workers that are paid the 360k minimum wage annually, instead of the shameful thing Zulum is doing in Borno. Startcomm22: The Labour Veterans and Trade Unionists Assembly has expressed outrage over the wages paid to workers in Borno State, revealing that many are receiving as little as N6,000 to N8,000 as minimum wage
Comrade Isa Tijani, National Interim Chairman of the Labour Veterans, condemned the situation in a statement on Tuesday.
The Labour Veterans also condemned arbitrary deductions from workers’ salaries, warning that if the issue is not addressed, workers in other states might face similar exploitation.
Tijani said, “It pains us to admit that, we now have it on clear record, that, in Borno state, workers in most of the local governments throughout the state, are presently being paid N6000 to N8000 only, as minimum wage. This is not only despicable, but an open case of inhuman slavery in the 21st century.
“We wish to call on the Governor to do the following: Ensure that all entitled workers are paid the prevailing agreed amount even before the new Minimum Wage comes into effect; Stop all forms of arbitrary deductions in the name of palliatives or purchase of cars to local Government Chairmen.
“Taking into cognizance the shameful act that is taking place in Borno state, we are afraid that workers in some states might be experiencing the same fate. Accordingly, it is of vital importance for the Labour Leaders and their members to successfully tackle the sticky and knotty issue of full wage agreements implementation across board, before the new National Minimum Wage regime comes into Law.”

Tokskob2008: I have always pondered on this too. Why can't FG make use of the available lands all around the country for massive agriculture, it's not like they don't have the funds to buy the equipments or whatever and doing this will create more jobs and also make food cheaper for the citizens, so what is really the problem with this our leaders How many prosperous countries do you know that have their GDP mostly from farming and ranching agricultural activities? Why should the government use the land for agriculture instead of private entrepreneurs, not peasant farmers o |
