New thread: Who are the top ten most beautiful Ghollywood/Ghanian actresses to you: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-834416.0.html |
Freesia:The only thing that ghollywood beats nollywood in is quality and sometimes locations but besides that they are behind, and one of the reasons is because of their s.exual content in their movies |
[b]"Lydia Forson on Nollywood set Actress Lydia Forson is currently busy in Nigeria on the set of an upcoming movie by Nigerian director, Kunle Afolayan. Kunle Afolayan, a product of New York Film Academy, is best known for his work ‘The Figurine’, which grabbed 5 awards at the African Movie Academy Awards in Bayelsa State 2 years ago, after getting 10 nominations. Lydia Forson, on the other hand, is one of Ghana’s professional and celebrated actresses with a reputable history in the filmmaking. The upcoming movie’s working title is ‘Phone Swap’ and features some of Nigeria’s top actors. Unconfirmed reports say Kunle’s casting team presented names of Desmond Elliot, Saheed Balogun, Joseph Benjamin, Joke Silvia, Jim Iyke and Nse Ikpe Etim and Sam Loco as some of the big Nollywood names penned to appear in the movie. But Loco mysteriously died just when Kunle was set to start shoot. He hence deprived Lydia an opportunity to make a debut with him. Lydia, according to a source, left Ghana on Friday evening for the production. She was supposed to have flown to Nigeria a couple of weeks ago but she had to postpone the trip because the production was put on hold to mourn Loco and also find a replacement for Loco’s role. The production is currently ongoing at a location outside Lagos near Benin border where Kunle built a film set for the production. Reports say he is using red camera and is also exploring professionalism in all areas of filmmaking. The movie is Lydia’s second job in Nigeria after her first in February this year. Indeed, her entry into Nollywood was long over overdue. But the bubbly actress had always said that she was selective with scripts and had rejected a few scripts from Nigeria. She believes in strong characters and stories that do not only entertain but also educate. “As an actress, our roles are most often determined by the offers at hand,” she once said. “It’s rare for us to get the chance to be characters that we truly are passionate about. So I eventually hope to write and produce stories I believe in,” she added.
Well, in planning and sustaining a balanced society, the primary ingredient is diversity. Currently, we exist as a foreigner in sovereignty with other foreigners and we all are living under the burden of a foreign political legacy practicing foreign world religions. If Nigeria dissolves and Yoruba is idnependent, there will be a push to return to a Yoruba philosophy. We will at that time face many challenges in the social order, diversity. . . . . whether of religion, population, economy or politics will be a big headache!
True |
stillwater:LOL ![]() stillwater:The perfect picture is ok to me but it is one of the best movies from Ghana though but I do agree that I prefer Checkmate and 6 hours to christmas better, I am not into a sting of a tale very much(the ending turned me off). When it comes to the Game I agree with you, I don't get what people see in the movie. I have heard it is a copy cat from a Bollywood movie. One thing about Ghanian movies that I don't like is it is just to westernized |

wow John Dumelo is winning |
amor4ce:You have a point but they at times tend to appreciate the art when it comes to historical preservation but I am not denying what you are saying some Christians don't want to associate with the sculptures at all however but from my experience they are not as vocal about it like the Muslim Yoruba's are though. |
No, but I am a fan of bukky wright, jide kosoko, funke akindele, omotola jalade, stella demascus, lillian bach, Ramsey Noauh, Mercy Aigbe, fathia balogun, Taiwo hassan, Dakore Egbuson, Mr. Latin, Joke silva and many more |

@OP there is nothing wrong in your opinion, if you feel Ghanian actresses are hotter then nigerian actresses well that's your prerogative. To me I am a moderate in this discussion because to me I don't dispute that jackie appiah, nadia buari, and yvonne nelson are hot & beautiful but they don't beat Nigerian actresses to me in that arena. To me they are equal as far as I am concerned when it comes to hotness, as much as you rave Yvonne she doesn't beat, for example Dakore Egbuson to me, as much as you rave Jackie she doesn't beat, for example Damilola Adegbite to me, as much as you rave Nadia buari she doesn't beat, for example lillian bach to me. So different strokes for different folks as far as I am concerned. lillian Bach https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/168319_490173284642_668469642_5838793_2164611_n.jpg Dakore Egbuson https://www.thenetng.com/wp-content/uploads/cache/8248_thumbzoom.jpg Damilola Adegbite https://cdn.bellanaija.com/wp-content/gallery/cast-6-hours-to-christmas/dami-2.jpg Have you've seen Stella damascus in her earlier movies, do I need to say more https://www.nollywoodgossip.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Stella-Damasus.jpg Any way I don't want to get into a cat and mouse game with you over this topic because there shouldn't be a reason for it and you shouldn't feel bad for your opinion but to me I feel non is hotter over the other, they are equal to me as far as I am concerned. |
nice. proud to be yoruba!
Amen |
@OP I agree, even though I watch both Yoruba and English Nollywood movies, I prefer Yoruba movies more & watch it more because their storylines and plots are more authentic, realistic and etc. It is what made me connect more to my culture and understand it, especially since I wasn't born and raised in Nigeria, so Yoruba movies are very important to me; Yoruba movies are actually the movies I watch 80% of the time |
"This unbelievable (yet real) photo shows a one-eyed albino shark that was found off the coast of Isla Cerralvo near La Paz, Mexico, in June 2011. The image went viral after being posted on the blog of a local sportfishing company, which was forced to defend the photo after skeptics questioned its integrity. The company later published more pictures of the unique albino baby and discovered that a commercial fisherman had extracted it after catching a dead female bull shark with ten pups inside her." http://yearinreview.yahoo.com/2011/us_top_photos#2cyclops-shark https://www.adventure-journal.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/adventure-journal-one-eyed-albino-shark-cyclops-baja.jpg |
"Gabourey Sidibe sure must be grateful for this! In Jennifer Hudson's book I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down, the 30-year-old singer-actress opens up about why she turned down an opportunity to star in the Academy Award nominated 2009 film Precious." "I had [gained weight] with Effie [in Dreamgirls]," she explains, as excepted by Uptown Magazine. "And as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight." "Instead, Hudson, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Dreamgirls, went on to co-star in the first Sex and the City Movie alongside Sarah Jessica Parker. " "Since her days on American Idol, Hudson has dropped 80 lbs. with the help of Weight Watchers. In September, she even opened up the Jennifer Hudson Weight Watchers Center in Chicago. Tell Us: Are you glad Jennifer passed on the role of Precious?" http://movies.yahoo.com/news/jennifer-hudson-declined-precious-role-didnt-want-gain-233058536.html Jennifer Hudson https://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2010/stylewatch/blog/100412/jennifer-hudson-300x400.jpg |
Do we have any one interested in learning Portuegese for historical research reasons. . . ? I doubt it!
True
Yoruba Muslims have always been distant from anything thats considered sculpted art and moreso if its a traditional Yoruba myth god or even a symbol of customary beliefs such as the ibeji wood carving. Yoruba Christians were like that too but I have seen them changed due to new awareness in art appreciation. The Yoruba Muslims need to change this view and the best way to cause that change would be through the Quran itself. My fear is if you reveal the Quran to Yoruba Muslim you also risk converting them back to Ifa because the Quran acknowledges Ifa practitioners as "People of the Book". By keeping them away from that revelation you sustain the balance which currently exist in Yorubaland and we see as diversity of religion.
You have a point the Yoruba Christians of today have a appreciation for art more then the Muslim Yoruba's and thast why you see the differences between the two groups I never looked at it that way when it comes to the diversity of religion in Yorubaland, and when it comes to keeping the balance but I highly doubt a mass conversion of Yoruba Muslims to Ifa after the revelation of the Quran, some may convert to Ifa but most wouldn't; majority of Muslims tend to be a little stubborn when it comes to that in regards to religion. Orikinla:I think Yvonne, Genevieve and Omotola are beautiful but my favorite is Omotola but I agree with you that beauty is more then a pretty face(even though that is also important) however some people have their own beauty perceptions Orikinla:well you have a point(except for the black people being monkeys assessment) but how do we know that the person who posted the Bollywood actress is a black person |
