haha can south yeast accommodate more than 7 million ibos?
SalamRushdie: You obviously have not heard the audio because if you did you will know the headline is completely misleading and the Senator was only narrating how far the case had gone to a friend
STFUand4kMeHARD: I refuse to be lectured by individuals who have failed to deliver the basic dividend of a democratic society to their people, constituted authorities who only look at the next elections and not the welfare of the people they are mandated to serve. Perhaps, what we need is to develop a governance score card, with clear performance indicators, well thought out objectives relative to genuine and realist expectations of the people, agreeable timelines for deliveries of these expectations, an evaluation or performance measurement tool and benchmarks which reflects global, continental and regional standards. We can no longer afford to go to the ballot box with mere promissory notes or sensational slogans, for governance to work for us all, we must have a sense of what needs to be done first, and we must be willing to pressure the elected to get it done. Rather than Raufnomics, we the people deserve bold, audacious and visionary economic philosophies, with evidence of impact like africapitalism. Africapitalism is a philosophy developed by Tony Elumelu predicated on the belief that African private sector can and must play leading roles in the continent’s development. It argues that the business of development cannot be left in the hands of government and donor agencies alone. To this effect, an entrepreneurship initiative was set up with a commitment of 100 million dollars over a 10 year period to identify and create 10 thousand entrepreneurs, create a million jobs and add 10 billion dollars in revenue to the African economy. In the last two years, 2000 people have already benefitted from the fund with evidence of progress being made. The Lagos state government have also taken this honourable path by setting up the employment trust fund with about 25 billion naira to create opportunities for thousands of brilliant Lagosians. What ever might have been the idea behind Raufnomics, one thing is certain, the idea is a complete fiasco.
STFUand4kMeHARD: RAUFNOMICS, a somewhat new but disturbing concept which encapsulates the economic philosophies and strides of the current governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, is seeking to find room in our political economy. We however must refuse to allow such mediocre concept, lacking of clear outcome objectives, to ever take root in our dear nation. To think that the originator and campaigner in chief of such a wobbled theory is one who has presided over a state for the better part of his administration without a cabinet and is incapable of meeting a basic, yet fundamental obligation as the regular payment of salaries of civil servants who have dutifully fulfilled their own end of the bargain. What then are we supposed to learn from “Raufnomics”? Grandiose plans and white elephant projects? Incoherent macroeconomic policies almost leading to insolvency? Or populists projects that rarely translates to meaningful socio-economic benefits. When the Osun state government launched the audacious school feeding programme, popularly called “opon imo “ (learning tablet), it sought to increase school enrollment and the quality of education. This project was to cost the state about 3.6 billion naira annually to feed about 300,000 pupils across the state. Yet, the WAEC results of 2016 ranked Osun state 29th among the 36 states of the federation, a shameful outing by any standard. What kind of thinking assumed that a poorly motivated teaching staff owed several months of salaries would give in their best in the class room? That kind of thinking can only be rooted in Raufnomics. To think that Dr. Shehu Adamu, commissioner of Education in Kaduna state, after a review of the state’s school feeding programme noted that primary school pupils had developed the habit of leaving school immediately after being served meals under the disguise of wanting to drink water. In other words, except carefully thought through and strategically implemented, feeding programmes do not improve quality of education, it only improves the popularity of the initiator.
The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) announced on Sunday that the All Progressive Congress (APC), had won all the 23 local government chairmanship seats in the elections held on Saturday.
It also announced that the party won all the councillorship positions, with some of the candidates returned unopposed.
BSIEC chairman John Tsuwa who declared the results in Makurdi, however, declined to release details of votes scored by the candidates.
“The figures are not ready. I will not entertain questions because this is not a press conference,,” he told curious newsmen.
Tsuwa said that eight political parties participated in the exercise and listed them to include Accord Party, APC, PDP, SDP, ACB, PPP, LP and NNPP.
He thanked security agencies for ensuring a smooth conduct of the elections, and expressed happiness that no case of violence or snatching of ballot box was reported throughout the exercise.
Shops and other business premises belonging to Igbo traders at Biogbolo, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, have remained shut following attacks on traders by aggrieved youths from the area.
Investigations, Thursday, revealed that all the shops at Customs Road and Green Villa extending to the Yenagoa-Mbiama Road could not open for business out of fears that the youths were regrouping for fresh attacks.
The attackers have been protesting an alleged ritual killing of 17-year-old Faith Omosovu Pius by a 31-year-old non-indigene identified as Tochukwu at the New Wapo Hotel located in the area.
Many traders have fallen victims of the attacks with their shops and business premises shattered and burnt by the youths.
The police and the army have been patrolling the affected areas to stop further damage and restore the peace in the area.
Government authorities and security agents were said to have held meetings with traditional rulers and community leaders to douse tension and prevent the situation from snowballing into full-blown inter-tribal war.
The authorities were said to be prevailing on the angry indigenes to stop spreading hate speeches against non-indigenes especially Igbo traders because of the misdeeds an individual.
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, while condemning the killing, appealed to the indigenes to stop attacking innocent people.
The Acting Chairman, IYC Central Zone, Mr. Amiebi Turner, said instead of assaulting innocent non-indigenes, the aggrieved persons should channel their energy towards finding and bringing the culprit to book.
Turner said: “The IYC central zone wishes to condemn in totality the murder of a promising Ijaw daughter, while we also advise our youths to remain calm, peaceful and avoid acts that may disrupt the existing peace in the state.
“We understand the pains, we feel the rage, but we advise against taking laws into your hands. As we push for moves aimed at apprehending the culprit and to restore order.
“Since the incident, we have engaged security agencies to intensify hunt of the suspected murderer of our beloveth daughter, which they have promised to do, on our path, we owe the duty to provide useful informations.
“The entire Ijaw youths in Central zone wishes to commiserate with the bereaved family and the entire Biogbolo – Epie community in the state capital, on this sad and painful loss, we pray God to give you all the fortitude to bear this great loss.
“We also use this opportunity to advise security agencies to stop the chase and assault on youths of Biogbolo community, so as not to aggravate the situation but to rather employ diplomatic measures that will be void of martial law.
“We condemn this dastardly and criminal act in very strong terms, but we must allow security agencies do their work to unravel the mystery behind this unjust killing. We also advise residents in the area to remain peace abiding and not see it as an ethnic or tribal issue, for crime is crime”.
Turner commended the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Yenagoa, Mr. Oboku Oforji, for his timely intervention and advised traders and residents to go about their normal activities.
Oboku also called on the people of Biogbolo-Epie community to be peaceful and law abiding insisting that efforts were ongoing to resolve the killing.
Oboku, who spoke in after a meeting involving him, the police and the community chiefs at Biogbolo Town Hall, described the incident as “regrettable”.
He said that a committee was set up to handle the matter with a view to bringing justice to the grieving family and the community.
“We are working very hard, and we are gathering more information. What we want to do is to see that justice is done by apprehending the culprit.
“The committee has swung into action, and has started getting results only for violence to break out again today”, he said.
But the council boss appealed to the Igbo traders in the community to stay away in the meantime, adding that “it will not be long we will ask them to return and start their normal businesses.”
“They (the Igbo traders) are aware that somebody died and it’s painful, and that is the reason why the shops should temporarily close down, and hopefully we will call them to return to their shops”, he said.
Stephanie Otobo has countered a statement by Johnson Suleman’s aide that she claimed to have become ‘born again’ and withdrawn the $5 million lawsuit she filed against the controversial cleric in Canada.
Ms. Otobo stated her stance in a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Monday. It was signed by her counsel, Festus Keyamo Chambers. Ms. Otobo said, “I wish to state the following in reaction. That I could not have promised to withdraw any matter here in Nigeria against Johnson Suleman as he is the one that got me arrested and charged to court in a criminal case. He is the one (as I have read in the Press) that has filed a N1 billion Naira defamation suit against me.
“So, I have no prerogative to withdraw any case here in Nigeria against him and I never said so.” Ms. Otobo also expressed joy that the court granted her prayers and has summoned some persons and institutions to court to testify against Mr. Suleman in the criminal case he instituted against her. One of those reportedly summoned is the Managing Director, United Bank of Africa who was reportedly asked to produce Statement of Account No. 2031068488 belonging to Ms. Otobo covering the period 2015 to date.
Also reportedly summoned is the Managing Director, MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, to produce and provide the call logs and text messages exchanged between mobile numbers 08160000616 (belonging to Mr. Suleman) and 07081454058 (belonging to Ms. Otobo) between 2015 and 2017. The CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission is also to produce record of the identity of the person that registered sim card no. 08160000616 belonging to Mr. Suleman.
The Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria is also to produce and provide the call logs and text messages exchanged between mobile numbers 07081454058 and 08160000616 between 2015 and 2017. Mr. Suleman was also reportedly asked to produce his International Passport detailing his international travels between 2015 till date, and his Black iPhone 4 which he used between 2015 and 2016.
The Inspector-General of Police was also asked to produce Samsung Phone, Note 7, which was “forcefully seized (without a court order) from me at UBA, Anthony Branch on Friday, March 3, 2017.” Ms. Otobo added that “I am also moving the court to invite forensic experts to court to analyse all the nude pictures of his private part and our face-to-face chats of which I did screen shots during our numerous lecherous FaceTime chats. He has been telling barefaced lies that they are photo shopped.
“But I have since challenged him to produce the original pictures from which I “photoshopped” them, but he has been running from pillar to post. He will also explain what his pictures were doing in my private phone in the first place.”
Mr. Suleman’s camp fired the first salvo when they issued a statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday.
In the statement, the church’s Communications Manager, Phrank Shaibu, said they received with bewilderment the purported claim by Ms. Otobo that she has become born again and accordingly forgiven Mr. Suleman.
“After besmirching the reputation of a man that she has never physically met, Stephanie Otobo, who filed a suit for $5 million against Apostle Johnson Suleiman in a Canadian court in abuse of court process now claims she is born again and wants to put the whole saga behind her and forget the matter and withdraw the case?” Mr. Shaibu said.
“Not so fast. Where are the explosive incontrovertible evidence she, Festus Keyamo and their team of jeer leaders promised Nigerians? Where are the travel documents she promised to reveal? Where are the nude pictures she claimed to have? “The 33 year old officially 23 year old girl who made history by being the only woman to miscarry a baby from her backside rather than her front side (as she claimed) now wants to forgive and forget? Her father called her a liar, her mother called her a liar, her best friend said she was a blackmailer and when given the chance to prove them all wrong she suddenly becomes born again?” Ms. Otobo’s statement on Monday indicates she never withdrew her claims against the cleric. But, despite Ms. Otobo’s claims, Mr. Suleman has denied having a relationship with her. According to a statement by Mr. Shaibu, the pastor denied ever meeting the woman in person, or making any marriage proposal to her. He also denied being involved in Ms. Otobo’s reported arrest on March 3. But, two letters published quoted Ms. Otobo’s lawyer, Festus Keyamo, as saying that the Canada-based Nigerian started a relationship with Mr. Suleman in 2015 and became pregnant for him in 2016.
dman4mdmoon: Well you are right. Most of those countries only know Nigeria as a nation. They can't differentiate who is Ibo, Yoruba or Hausa. But upon watching a video on Facebook I realised that they are beginning to understand who is who in terms of ethnic differences.
who told u that they can differentiate? watch this video, start watching from 1:40, the police man clearly said igbo
start watching from 1:40 i thought his post was a lie until i watched this video. Im happy that this foreigners are beginning to differentiate between igbos and other tribes.
post=55944714: Ex Presidential aide Reno Omokri has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to handover power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He was reacting to Buhari's absence at the Federal Executive Council meeting for the third time since his return from his medical trip to the UK on Wednesday.
He said if President Buhari is sick he should hand over to Osinbajo, as it is hypocritical for the government to penalise ghost workers while the country has a Ghost President.
Youngadvocate: It's true Nnamdi Kanu has been granted Bail. The polity is already awash of praise-singers and sadist of vituperation. But the discerned, the informed are not letting out all that emotion.
Proper discerning of the circumstances surrounding the BAIL could unclad some contentious facts settled in deep subtle political game play. For one, it is obvious the Judge was hard pressed to give out her judgement with the bail conditions seemingly outrageous. Did you remember the allegations levelled against Nnamdi Kanu? Carrying of illegal arms, belonging to an unlawful society, publishing defamatory articles, terrorism etc, all the frivolous charges were trashed.
Now, let's consider the bail conditions? Aside the near impossibility of having up to three persons resident in Abuja stand as surety for Kanu with N100million, How is it possible for example, that Nnamdi Kanu, now a popular figure amongst his people, must not appear in a gathering of more than ten persons (even family meeting beats that number)? He is the Director of Radio Biafra based in London which is his career, how can he agree to forfeit all his passports? He can not address the Press and whatever public address? These last two points say in a nutshell, that Kanu will never have any business with Radio Biafra.
Back to the real crux; the politics in the justice delivered. Quite recently, the continued incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has met hue and fry. All verbal attacks and hate were directed to the President Buhari who/whatever is associated with him including the APC. Notable persons stood and identified with Nnamdi Kanu. And they pulled their supporters along. And the Federal Govt had much of the pressure to handle.
It is certain that from the judgement, the intent of the Federal government aided by Justice Binta was to silence the Biafran agitations which at the moment, Nnamdi Kanu pilots. If the leader can't address his followers, can't address the press, can't travel out for high powered meetings, can't gather with his followers, is circumferenced in the country where his pick-up is handy should he go contrary to government directive, or enter govt bad records...how does the fight continue? And how would the followers carry on?
If the justice delivered was devoid of heavy politicking and propensity to serve political needs, for goodness sake, how would Nnamdi Kanu charged for TERRORISM be granted bail on health grounds? And how would bail on health ground have such stringent conditions even seizing all passports of the accused. What about being flown abroad for further treatment?
Is is not so clear that the government is all out to silence gathering storm from the "Rising sun?" Keeping Nnamdi Kanu which was their biggest mistake has unfortunately gathered much hit and momentum for the Biafra agitations. It begs for insight, the factor that necessitated the concocted judgment. Pure politics.
Moreover, another twist to the "arrangee" political judgement brings the forthcoming Anambra Gubernatorial Election to the picture. Reality check reveals that Anambra is the hub of the IPOB's and other pro-Biafra organisations' activities. Emotions and sentiments aligned with the struggle for Biafra depress any feeling of likeness for the APC and so, the doom of the APC in the coming election is a fact. Sweeping all seats in the just concluded Ebonyi State LGA election by the PDP is an eye opener.
Could it be that APC political gladiators in the South East saw the gory signs and the trepidation of their historic humiliation in the Anambra Election and beckoned on the father of the nation to do something atleast, to appease the assumed gullible public (Anambra people are smarter than that, am sure of). Residents of Omuo Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Tuesday sent a passionate appeal to the Ekiti state government o intervene over the power crisis facing virtually all towns in the area for more than a year now.
A community leader, Mr Adegbuyi Ayodele told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that more than 15 communities in the local government were affected by the blackout, thereby making life difficult for residents and paralysing their businesses.
He listed the affected towns to include Omuo, the council headquarters, Kofa, Ilada, Eda- Ile, Isinbode, Araromi and Ikun Ekiti among others.
According to him, several artisans who relied on electricity to power their machines were now finding it difficult to cope with life as their sources of income had been negatively affected by the blackout.
He claimed that the crisis was made worse as street lights erected by the state government on the recently dualised road in Omuo Ekiti was now being powered by the palace generator.
He said authorities of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, (BEDC) demanded for payment of N78m being unpaid bills allegedly incurred during the pre-privatisation of the power sector, but which was inherited by the new power managers as liability.
Ayodele explained that when all attempts by the affected communities to raise the huge sum from any of the federal and state elected officials yielded no result, the leaders imposed a levy of N5,000 per each household.
Ikeg: There's an ongoing petition by Nnamdi Kanu to ICC as well as African Union that the Nigerian government is tampering with his Human right. Both petition is focused on his bail. Both of which has been taken up ever since Amnesty International report on your government. Your idiiotic government LITERALLY just gave him a second evidence to support his claim. Yet your idiotic ass think it is a fall for "those jubilating." How fucking dumb are you? Like seriously, how dumb are you?
The other surety must be a highly respected Jewish leader since Kanu said his religion was Judaism, while the third person must be a highly respected person who owns landed property and is resident in Abuja.
The judge maintained that the only reason she admitted Kanu to bail was because of his ill health.
i just pity those basstards jubilating . Thats the only option for him, to remain there for now, how can he convince any serving senator in Nigeria now to stand as surety for him and deposit his 100 million naira for an unpredictable and disrespectful character like nnamdi? How does he hope to get a Jewish leader to surety him and from where? And finally how can he possibly live in the society without being able to express opinion or interact with people? And some idiots are already singing victory songs, well, wetin concern me, we warned him but he refused to listen, playing to the gallery, now let those riffraffs come and contribute 300 million.
Wetin concern me sef, let the terrorist rot in jail, I don't give a flying fück.
