A popular tap-2-earn app, Tapswap, powered by TON Blockchain, has introduced a new game on its tap-to-earn gaming platform months after failing to allocate tokens for its tap gamers.

The introduction came after the platform clarified to its gamers that the tokens would be allocated in quarter three of the year (which started in July).

The app, which required users to repeatedly tap the icon in the centre of the Telegram Tapswap bot screen to mine coins, recently gained momentum among Nigerians tapping on their phone screens in pursuit of financial earnings and has amassed over 50 million users since it launched on February 15, 2024.

Announcing the new game on its X handle on Tuesday, Tapswap welcomed its new gamers to what it described as the “World of Tappy Town” while reeling out the essential tips to help them succeed.

According to the tap-2-earn platform, the tips include building strategically, managing builders, balancing resources, and maximizing rewards.

The post read, “Welcome to the world of Tappy Town! Here are some essential rules and tips to help you succeed.

“Build Strategically: Use your Shares or Blocks (Tappy Town’s in-game currency) to build and upgrade your buildings. Remember, some buildings require others to reach certain levels first. Focus on upgrading your TapFlix building (it unlocks opportunities for your other buildings).
“Manage Your Builders: Your builders define how many upgrades you can do simultaneously. Consider investing in more builders with Gems to keep your town growing.

“Balance Resources: Monitor your Block balance and manage your Gems effectively. Both are crucial for smooth progress.

“Maximize Rewards: Your achievements in Tappy Town will influence the size of your rewards. Aim high and build a thriving city to get the best drops,” it added.

Tapswap further encouraged its gamers to keep building while assuring them that many opportunities abound.

Recall that the platform postponed its token allocation twice this year with no specific date in sight.

In June, its Head of Communications, Tapswap, John Robbin, announced the first postponement to July 1.

“The token launch was postponed until July 1. The new date will be communicated.


“We will allocate a significant part of the tokens to the community to retain the tappers. We want you all to be part of the tapswap community.

“We need a token airdrop to be a win-win for all of us. We have started communicating with many exchanges and platforms,” Robbin said.

The second came after the July 1 date failed to materialise.

The management said it decided to move the share-to-token exchange event scheduled for July 1st to the third quarter to better serve its players.

In a series of threads created on X to share what it described as ‘bad and good news’ for its players, the management said it is in active talks with tier 1 exchanges around the world to price the highly ranked game from the prey of scammers and leaders in web3 industry who are moved by the successes the game had attracted.

Nigerians, including young and old, have been obsessively tapping on their phones, with some asserting that they are waiting for the tokens to be allocated to buy cars and houses of their choice from the many taps they have accumulated.

The Edo State Government has accused Philip Shaibu of carrying out correspondence with different institutions and organisations both within and outside the State in a clear case of impersonation.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare described Philip Shaibu as a former Deputy Governor and cautioned organisations and institutions to disregard any correspondence from him as that could be considered as forgery.

Nehikhare noted that the issue of his purported reinstatement is still active in court and the next hearing for the two separate motions filed by the State Government and the Edo State House of Assembly challenging the purported reinstatement by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court is fixed for September 24, 2024.

He said that the State through the Attorney-General and the Edo State House of Assembly by their lawyers, Oluwole Iyamu, SAN, and Ken Mozia, SAN, respectively, had in the motions sought an order for a stay of the execution of the purported reinstatement and an order suspending the judgement and restraining Shaibu from parading himself or attending any official function as Deputy Governor pending
the hearing and determination of the appeal.

Nehikhare insisted that the status quo is that Omobayo Marvelous Godwins, remains the Deputy Governor of Edo State and any correspondence carried out by any other person, including Philip Shaibu is an act of impersonation, and anyone who deals with him does so at his or her own risk.

He called on security agencies to by this notice, be alerted to the potential breach of peace and are urged to hold Shaibu responsible for any security breach in the State arising from his actions.
