Olamide brought the unpopular figure to the stage of his #OLIC4 concert at the Teslim Balogun stadium. Olamide’s action has been termed as an insult and regarded as an act of insensitivity by Nigerians on social media, who are in the middle of a #ENDSARS campaign which is centered on speaking against the brutality of Nigerian youths by SARS. #1Kevin De Bruyne It may seem unfair, but De Bruyne’s bid for glory is hampered by his lack of goals. The dominance of the current top two has raised the bar in terms of attacking output – setting up chances for others helps, but scoring yourself for a successful side clinches the deal. At least the Belgian is at a club with lofty ambitions, as Manchester City look capable of becoming a European superpower with Pep Guardiola at the helm. #2Paulo Dybala While Dybala is a key figure for Juventus right now, his Ballon d’Or hopes in the long run rely on the opportunity to replace Messi in the Argentina team. Still, at 24, there’s no need for the forward to panic. Helping the Bianconeri reach the Champions League final last season helped raise Dybala’s profile, while he started the current Serie A campaign with a blistering spell of 10 goals in six games. If he can maintain that hot streak over an extended period, voters will be forced to take notice. #3Eden Hazard Hazard has dazzled in the Premier League with Chelsea, helping his club secure the title twice while being named in the PFA Team of the Year in four of his five seasons in England. However, for all his brilliance in a blue shirt in recent years, the Belgian is yet to crack the top six in the Ballon voting in his career. Consistently linked with Real Madrid, the 26-year-old may feel a move to one of the big two in Spain might boost his chances of claiming the honour. #4Neymar Viewed by many as the third best player in the world right now, Neymar is the obvious choice here. The Brazilian, who finished third in 2015 and fifth last year before returning to the top three in 2017, is no longer in the shadow of Messi at Barcelona, with his world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain allowing him to break out on his own. The forward’s move outside of Spain should allow him to make a stronger case to win the trophy too, even if Ligue 1 is viewed as a step down from La Liga. #5Kylian Mbappe A team-mate of Neymar’s at PSG, teenager Mbappe burst onto the scene last season with his exploits for Monaco and has settled in quickly to life in the French capital. He admitted in October that he still has “a lot of steps to go” to be considered a serious contender for the Ballon d’Or, but the talented teenager has time on his side to outlast not just Messi and Ronaldo, but also the other names included on this list. The Reds forward insists he has no desire to leave Liverpool as he is currently ‘playing in one of the biggest leagues in the world; Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho has played down transfer rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona, saying he is ‘very happy’ playing at Anfield. The Brazil international was the subject of a transfer battle between the Reds and the Catalan giants in August, putting in a transfer request to try to force a move to Camp Nou. However, Liverpool bosses had no intention of selling one of their star players and were unwilling to let the 25-year-old leave. Barcelona are reportedly ready to return for the attacker, but Coutinho has insisted that he is happy with Liverpool and at the moment, has no desire to leave the club. “I’m playing in one of the biggest leagues in the world,” he told reporters before Brazil’s friendly with England. “I’m always happy. But now it’s important to concentrate on the national team. At the moment I am very happy with my life. “Every day, I work harder than before to improve myself and become a better all-around footballer.” Coutinho missed the start of the Premier League campaign with a back injury, but has slotted straight back into Jurgen Klopp’s XI, with two goals in five Premier League appearances. In addition, he also impressed in Europe as Liverpool returned to the Champions League, netting against both Spartak Moscow and Maribor. His performances since returning have earned praise from the Reds boss, who insisted that there was no disharmony in the squad despite the failed move to Barcelona. “The team was happy when he was back,” Klopp said in September. “We are not non-league football. There are offers for different players and that’s how it is – sometimes people think about it sometimes not. He is here with 100 per cent and that’s really good.” A hip problem has seen Coutinho miss more time with the Reds before the international break, but he can prove his fitness on Tuesday against England before returning to domestic action on Saturday, November 18 against Southampton. source https://justnaija.com.ng/2017/11/13/coutinho-plays-barcelona-transfer-rumours/

Legendary Nigerian singer and highlife maestro, ‘Guitar Boy’, as he is fondly called, Sir Victor Uwaifo, who has remained relevant on the Nigerian music scene by reason of his evergreen songs, like ‘Mami Water’, ‘Guitar Boy’, and many others for even after three decades of reign, has opened up on the remix of his hit song.. In an exclusive chat, the one-time Edo State Commissioner for Arts and Culture opened up to Showtime that Jaywon and Simi did not obtain copyright permission from him before recording a remix of his hit song, ‘Joromi’ added He said; “They didn’t contact me before doing a remix of Joromi; but I’m like a father to them so I can’t begin to drag them to court, so let them make a living out of it, but at the same time it’s piracy”, According to the multi-instrumentalist, simply ascribing credit to him as original composer of the song would suffice as permission for him. “I’ve heard it too many times on different occasions; it shows the quality of the music that has come a long way. As far as I’m concerned I’ve lived five lives (from one generation to the other), so if they want to appreciate and still appreciate me, it shows the quality of the music. It’s one thing to be an artiste and it’s another thing to stay on the scene for a long time; so I will not discourage artistes trying to remix or do another rendition of Joromi, but rather encourage them to give credit to the composer if they do”, he added Speaking further, he advised young music acts to learn the rudiments of live music performance rather than depending on computer based recording. “The young ones of today have depended so much on computer which I think is not the best because creativity must have given birth to technology, while technology on the other hand is now usurping creativity for further advancements of technology and that is wrong. It is the creative mind that created technology; the creative mind has spirit, life, soul and expression but the computer does not.It has no one on one communication, but if you play life music you can embellish with computer but don’t use computer as the major instrument as if it is the creative artiste itself.” He further advised that they should emulate older musicians because they are the masters of the game. “The young ones should learn from the masters. They should undergo apprenticeship; they should learn the rudiments of music. Music is not a free for all business; they should learn how to play music. I didn’t fall from the blues, I underwent apprenticeship with a few bands and well known musicians before I set up my own band, that is why I’m still relevant today. An American woman Martha O’Donovan, appeared in court on Saturday after she was charged with subversion in Zimbabwe, for allegedly describing the president on Twitter as a “sick man”. But a lawyer for 25-year-old O’Donovan, Rose Hanzi, told the court that the arrest was illegal because police did not explain the reasons for her client’s arrest when she was taken from her home in the capital, Harare, on Friday morning. Fox News reports that the arresting officer is also being questioned in court. O’Donovan is accused of calling 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe a “sick man” in a Twitter post that included a photo illustration of the president with a catheter. The charge of subversion carries up to 20 years in prison. O’Donovan also is charged with undermining the authority of or insulting the president O’Donovan has denied the allegations as “baseless and malicious.” It was the first arrest since Mugabe last month appointed a cybersecurity minister, a move criticized by activists as targeting social media. Zimbabwe was shaken last year by the biggest anti-government protests in a decade. Frustration is growing in the once-prosperous southern African nation as the economy collapses and the president, in power since 1980, is already running for next year’s elections. O’Donovan had been working with local social media outlet Magamba TV, which describes itself as producing “satirical comedy sensations. “O’Donovan, a graduate of New York University, had called herself a manager for Magamba TV and a “media activist”.” “Earlier this year, she presented a talk at a Re:publica digital culture conference on “How Zimbabweans Rebel Online.” The group representing O’Donovan, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights says it has represented nearly 200 people charged for allegedly insulting Mugabe, the world’s oldest head of state, in recent years. “This arrest marks the start of a sinister new chapter in the Zimbabwean government’s clampdown on freedom of speech, and the new battleground is social media,” said Amnesty International’s deputy regional director, Muleya Mwananyanda.” The statement said Zimbabwe authorities tracked tweets to O’Donovan’s IP address. The Nigeria international has struggled in front of goal since his effort against Hull City in December 2016, and drew blank again on Saturday Kelechi Iheanacho has now failed to score in his last 16 Premier League matches, a dishonourable return for a striker of his calibre. Following his failure to find the net in Leicester City’s 2-2 draw with Stoke City on Saturday, it’s time to examine what exactly is going wrong. In his debut season in the English top flight, Iheanacho made hay by netting eight goals for Manchester City – a feat which earned him a Golden Boy Award nomination and earned him the Caf Most Promising Talent of the Year prize. However, since December 26, 2016, he has found his progress halted, with various managers powerless to find an antidote to his frustrating run. Having gone on a barren spell of eight Premier League matches without a goal in his last days at the Etihad Stadium, many felt that his move to Leicester City would usher in a new beginning where he would make the Citizens regret letting him go. However, the 21-year-old looks to have lost his Midas touch, having managed no shots on target in his eight English elite division matches for the Foxes: 233 minutes in total.
