Let FIFA announce Messi and Ronaldo as the two world best players for the first time in history |
Fellow Nigerians, 1. I greet and rejoice with you all as we celebrate the advent of a new year. 2. I join you all in giving thanks to God Almighty for bringing us and our beloved nation safely through the past year to the beginning of 2013 which, by His Grace, will be a much better year for us and our country. 3. In keeping with tradition, it is usual for individuals, institutions and organizations to make resolutions and set agenda as a new year begins, to guide their actions in the coming months. President Jonathan new year message 2013 4. I have already given a clear indication of the Federal Government’s agenda for 2013 in recent pronouncements. Our objective for the year is to ensure by all possible means that more of the programmes and projects envisioned by this administration, and which are already being embarked upon are further brought on stream within the next 12 months to meet the yearnings of our people, and raise the quality of life. 5. We have in the last year achieved a lot in terms of the positive transformation of vital sectors of our national life such as public infrastructure, power supply, oil and gas, transportation, education, health and agricultural development. We will continue to work diligently in 2013 to ensure that our efforts in these areas are carried forward to full fruition in fulfillment of our promise of better public services and improved living conditions for all Nigerians. 6. We will give priority attention in the coming year to flood and erosion control, the rehabilitation and expansion of existing federal roads, improved power supply, as well as the continued rehabilitation, upgrading and reactivation of the national rail network. 7. Employment generation and wealth creation will also remain a primary objective of our socio-economic agenda for 2013. Creating more employment opportunities for our youth and graduates of our universities is an imperative that will continue to underpin our drive for massive economic growth, the rapid expansion of our manufacturing and industrial base, and the productive diversification of our national economy. In this regard, we will continue to provide the necessary enabling environment for the private sector to thrive. 8. As peace and security remain pre-requisite conditions for the full realization of our objectives, we will also do more in 2013 to further empower our security agencies who are working in collaborative partnerships with our friends in the international community to stem the scourge of terrorism in our country and enhance the security of lives and property in all parts of Nigeria. 9. I also want to assure Nigerians that we will refuse to be discouraged by those who have taken it upon themselves to pick on every initiative and effort of this administration. We remain resolutely committed to the rule of law, due process and fair play in all circumstances. Our democracy continues to grow, and the scope for human freedom continues to expand. It is an achievement that we will continue to build upon. 10. I say it again, we are determined to continue to push forward. We will do more, not less. We will remain focused. 11.For your part, dear compatriots, I urge that you all include in your new year resolutions a commitment to do more this year to support the implementation of the Federal Government’s Agenda for National Transformation in every possible way. That is all I ask for. 12. The task of making our dear nation a much better place for present and future generations cannot be left to government alone. Leaders and followers alike have critical roles to play in our march towards the fulfillment of our great national potentials. 13. Let us all therefore resolve as we celebrate the new year to place the higher interests of national unity, peace, stability and progress above all other considerations and work harder in our particular fields of human endeavour to contribute more significantly to the attainment of our collective aspirations. 14. I wish you all a happy and rewarding 2013. 15. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR President Federal Republic of Nigeria January 01, 2013 http://hotnaijanews.com/2012/12/31/president-goodluck-jonathan-new-year2013-message-to-nigerians/ |
As the year grinds to an end, the likely question on their minds is when, where and how their spouses will come. They seem to have outlived their single girlhood lifespan on the shelves. They are ripe and very ready. Yet, they are still hopeful that some day, perhaps, in 2013, their Prince Charming will emerge from any corner of the planet. We present some of the hottest single ladies, who are still searching, not desperately though, looking forward to that blissful day, even as they desire to live happily ever after. RITA DOMINIC https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Rita-Dominic2.jpg Rita is one woman you dare not look at once and walk away. She may have come in a small package but you just can’t discard her huge impact on others. She’s intelligent, talented and a power dresser any day. Rita has not been romantically linked with her colleagues or anyone in the entertainment industry but she has been in the news for allegedly having her heart beat faster for a popular Nollywood actor that loves to speak with American accent. Both have acted in many movies together but nothing seems to come out of the alleged affair. Right now, the Theatre Arts graduate is happy with her life but not many know whether she sheds secret tears about not being captured by her Mr. Right. Fans and friends only hope 2013 doesn’t pass by without a ring on the fourth finger of her left hand. GENEVIEVE NNAJI https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Genevieve-Nnaji.jpg Genny, as she is fondly called, is also described as the darling of Nigeria’s movie industry, known as Nollywood. One thing you can’t take away from her is her acting prowess as well as her classy dress sense. Many feel something is lacking in Genny’s seemingly perfect life of fame, money and beauty – a man, who would capture her heart forever. Even though she is not known to be a sucker for love, Genevieve has been severally linked with some men both within and outside Nollywood. The height of it was when she was reported to be involved with the sitting number two man of the country during Olusegun Obasanjo’s tenure. Genny never came out to refute the rumours and neither did she state it was true. Perhaps, the one that resounded for long was her acclaimed romance with Koko master, D’Banj. She also maintained sealed lips about it too. She is beautiful, intelligent, classy and rich too. So, what’s keeping this 33-year-old mother of one from finding Mr. Right? No one knows. Nigerians hope to see her hooked next year. BIMBO AKINTOLA https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/bimbo-akintola2-300x225.jpg The history of Nollywood queens is not complete without mentioning Bimbo Akintola. She is one of the most versatile actresses Nigeria has produced. For those who know her, she is easy going. She is the third child of a family of six and a native of Oyo State, Nigeria. She started acting as a pupil with her peers for the school’s end-of-year drama events. One thing that mesmerises her fans is her ability to blend into any role given to her without qualms. But when it comes to relationships, not much is known about her. This is because she believes that age is no longer a barrier to marriage as it can come any time. But her fans feel she is missing the thrill of matrimony. Acording to her: “There is no such thing as an ideal man. There is no perfect man or woman. What you have is work in progress. Once you meet half-way, you just have to build from there.” She is right but let’s hope 2013 will usher her into the journey of matrimony with an ideal man and one with whom she can build their future together. Even though she is not bothered about her marital status, well-wishers will be thrilled if she gets hooked with the right man next year. CYNTHIA AGHOLOR https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/cynthia-agholor.jpg This busty Nollywood actress is not afraid to flaunt what she’s got no matter whose ox is gored. Cynthia Agholor’s ugly scar for being in Nollywood is being sexually harassed by many producers and directors in her early days in the industry. Starting out at the age of six with the popular kiddies programme ‘Tales by Moonlight’, Cynthia has been in the spotlight all her life. She has had her share of love troubles when she dated a white guy. Years after the relationship hit the rocks, Cynthia is rumoured to be in a sizzling romance with a top Ghanian movie producer. The romance is altar-bound, according to the news making rounds. It is evident that the lovebirds are happy together and waste no time, flaunting their affection for each other openly. Nothing will thrill her fans more than to see the well-endowed actress get married next year. QUEEN NWOKOYE https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Queen-Nwokoye.jpg For this innocent-faced Nollywood actress, simplicity is her way of life. She has remained scandal-free since she joined Nollywood in 2004. This Sociology and Anthropology graduate of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has endeared many to herself with her sweet girl roles. But many wonder when this Nollywood good girl is walking down the aisle with a man after her heart. And if you think she is not keen on getting married, then you are wrong. Marriage is on her mind but she is not in a hurry to settle down. This pretty lady considers marriage a serious issue and not something one just jumps into. She says: “If you jump in just because you want to change status, you will jump out of it in no time. That does not mean that I don’t have people who have proposed and are still proposing. There are even those who have been pestering me.” Queen only desires a lifelong matrimony. Let’s hope 2013 makes her wishes come true. EBUBE NWAGBO https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Ebube-Nwagbo.jpg Despite Ebube Nwagbo’s flawless beauty and talent, she wasn’t spared the heartbreak of watching her ex-boyfriend, Kingsley Okonkwo of KC Presh, make a lasting commitment to another woman. Ebube’s journey into Nollywood has spanned over 10 years and yet, no man has been able to capture her heart for life. Right now, this Nollywood diva and Mass Communication graduate from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, is enjoying her status as a businesswoman. She owns Posh Hair and has directed her energy into building her brand. When it comes to marital issues, Ebube says most parents don’t want their sons to marry actresses or female musicians for fear that they would make bad wives. Of course, being a victim of such stance, her would-be husband should then know how to tread with his family, regarding her career. Perhaps, that is why she is taking her time, regarding marriage. Ebube is not still single because she is an actress; she is waiting for the right man, who will love her, acting and all. But Nigerians just wish this Nollywood sweetheart would walk down the aisle next year despite the odds. Many pray she would find a man, who will trust and believe in her as well as appreciate her job as an actress. HALIMA ABUBAKAR https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Halima-Abubakar-199x300.jpg You can call her Nollywood bad girl but she doesn’t care a hoot. Halima Abubakar took Nollywood by storm years back and there has been no stopping this never-say-die actress. Her rise to stardom wasn’t a bed of roses, given the tough times she experienced growing up. Her persistence paid off in the end and today, she is one of Nollywood’s darlings. Although she has been in the centre of some scandals, Halima doesn’t bother herself any more about bad press. Her only concern is to keep forging ahead. On relationship matters, Halima believes in love but has restrained herself from making a lasting commitment to one man because some married people are running out of marriage. Halima believes that when the time is right, she will say yes to the one. She doesn’t believe in joining the bandwagon of ladies, rushing into marriage just to get a ring. She is not in a rush because she wishes to remain married for life like her parents, who have been together for over two decades. Fans just wish that the right time for Halima is 2013, as they are expecting to know who will finally steal Halima’s heart for life. COSSY ORJIAKOR This busty Nollywood actress is controversy personified. Her flagrant display of her God-given boobs have gotten her more haters than fans. But in all these, Cossy is hard to erase from one’s mind easily. Like her or hate her, she lives her life the way she deems fit. One question Cossy should answer is if she is ready to settle down soon. She cried out at one time that she was tired of married men chasing her and sending her messages. At 37, no one knows for sure if the controversial actress is giving marriage a serious thought. Her fans wish her well in 2013. Many are actually pleading with her to settle down and raise children rather than continue displaying her boobs in public all the time. EJIRO OKURAME https://hotnaijanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Ejiro-200x300.jpg Pretty Isoko actress, Ejiro Okurame, joined Nollywood eight years ago and she has been able to hold her own in a highly competitive industry. Her role in Clinic Matters is so impressive and she has won many hearts with that feat. At one time, it was rumoured that she was in a hot romance with fellow actor, Segun Arinze, but she clearly refuted it. Those in the know insisted that the two had a flame but kept it discreet. Ejiro Okurame is definitely thinking about settling down. Her fans wish her the best of luck next year. SOURCE |
Dearest Compatriots, 1. I greet and felicitate with you all as we join the rest of the world in celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ the Messiah many years ago in Bethlehem. 2. Christmas and the lessons of Jesus Christ’s mission on earth have great significance for us as a people and there can be no doubt that we all, irrespective of our religious beliefs, can draw immense strength and inspiration from the Messiah’s enduring personification of selflessness, dedication to duty, and commitment to the well-being of others. 3. The virtues and ideals of peace, tolerance, faithfulness, honesty, justice, fairness, true wisdom, knowledge and understanding which He taught and exemplified also remain very relevant to us in Nigeria as we continue to grapple with the challenges of development and nation-building. 4. My Administration continues to do its best to give our beloved country effective leadership towards rapidly overcoming present challenges. 5. As we celebrate Christmas, the ultimate significance of which is the fulfillment of God’s promise of a Saviour for mankind, I urge you all to continue to trust in our unwavering commitment to fully achieving the objectives of our Agenda for National Transformation for the benefit of all Nigerians. 6. No one should doubt that we have the political will and determination to deliver on our promise of positive changes in the living conditions of our people in the shortest possible time. 7. While we continue to deal with the regrettable distractions posed by threats to peace and security in parts of the country, the Federal Government remains very focused on the primary objective of achieving significant improvements in priority areas such as public infrastructure, power supply, transportation, roads, health, education, job creation, agriculture and industrialization as quickly as possible. 8. It is my hope and expectation that more of the efforts, actions and measures we are already undertaking in these areas will successfully come to fruition next year and make the results of the diligent project planning and execution being done under this administration more apparent to all Nigerians. 9. I seize the opportunity of the Christmas celebrations to express my sincere appreciation, once again, to the vast majority of patriotic Nigerians who have kept faith with this Administration since its inception. 10.We will continue to count on your support and cooperation, as well as your prayers for peace, stability and progress of our beloved nation. 11.I wish you all a very merry Christmas. The Police in Gombe State on Thursday urged residents of the state to be on the look out for explosive devices that could be packaged in Christmas hampers as gifts for people. The warning was contained in a statement issued in Gombe by DSP. Fwaje Atajiri, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state’s Police Command. He said that such bomb-laden parcels could then be dispatched to unsuspecting members of the public as goodwill gifts. “Members of the public should be wary of hamper gifts and parcels as they could contain Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),” he said. Atajiri said that citizens should also take other precautionary measures to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations. christmas-present contain bombs He also told religious and community leaders to assist the police with useful information to protect lives and property. On completion of his secondary education, he worked as a Preventive Officer with the Nigerian Customs Service for two years before proceeding to the University of Port Harcourt as one of the pioneer students of the new university nestling on the shores of the Choba River. He chose Zoology. As a child he had been fascinated with nature, and growing up by the shores of the intertwining rivers and waterways of the Niger Delta, aquatic life was second nature. He graduated with Second Class Upper honours in 1981. In 1985 and 1995 he studied for his Master’s and Ph.D degrees in Hydrobiology and Fisheries Biology, and Zoology respectively, from the same University. His honesty, simplicity, charisma, quiet strength and determination made him an ideal running mate to Chief D.S.P. Alamieyeseigha on the Bayelsa People’s Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial ticket. They won the elections, and he served as a Deputy Governor from 1999 to 11 December 2005. On 12 December that year, he became the substantive Governor of Bayelsa State. It wasn’t long after that fate once again beckoned. He was busy preparing for re election to his first full term as substantive governor, when the PDP, which is the largest political party in Africa, nominated him as running mate to the Presidential candidate, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’adua. After a keenly contested election, the Yar’adua/Jonathan ticket won, and on May 29, 2007, he was inaugurated as Nigeria’s Vice President. Precisely on February 9, 2010, Dr. Jonathan assumed office as Nigeria’s Acting President by virtue of a National Assembly resolution empowering him as Acting President, following President Yar’Adua’s long absence for medical attention in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was sworn-in on May, 6, 2010 as President, Commander-in-chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria following the passing away of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on May 5, 2010. He faced other candidates in the April 16, 2011 general election, including Mallam Nuhu Ribadu of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Muhammadu Buhari of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). On April 18, 2011, Goodluck Jonathan was declared the winner of the 2011 Nigerian presidential election. This year’s list of nominees for the FIFA Ballon d’Or has been released, with 12 of the 23 players plying their trade in La Liga. Barcelona star Lionel Messi, 25, has been awarded the FIFA Ballon d’Or for two successive years, after lifting the European Footballer of the Year in 2009 prior to it merging with the World Player of the Year in 2010. Messi and Real Madrid’s Ronaldo have both been prolific goalscorers for their respective clubs over the last 12 months, and the latter’s role in helping his side wrestle the Liga title from their rivals could tip this year’s award in his favour. But while Messi and Ronaldo are considered strong favourites for the prize, Spain and Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is being tipped to rival his counterparts after helping his nation claim glory at Euro 2012 when he was named as the tournament’s best player. Wayne Rooney is the one Englishman on the list, after he scored 27 Premier League goals for Manchester United last season, while he is joined by Premier League counterparts Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli, Yaya Toure and team-mate Robin van Persie. The Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place in Zurich on January 7, 2013, when the player who receives the most votes from coaches and captains of international teams, and journalists, will be announced. FIFA Ballon d’Or nominees Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) Mario Balotelli (Manchester City) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) Sergio Busquets (Barcelona) Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) Didier Drogba (Chelsea, now Shanghai Shenhua) Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan, now Paris-SG) Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) Lionel Messi (Barcelona) Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich) Neymar (Santos) Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid) Gerard Pique (Barcelona) Andrea Pirlo (Juventus) Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) Yaya Toure (Manchester City) Robin van Persie (Arsenal, now Manchester United) Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) Xavi Hernandez (Barcelona) There were also ten nominees announced for the FIFA Coach of the Year award. http://hotnaijanews.com/2012/10/29/see-the-full-list-la-liga-has-12-players-among-the-23-nominees-for-fifa-ballon-dor-award/ |

“as we celebrate our flag and shambolic autarky at 52, we must realise that Nigeria is still more of a geographic contrivance as has been rightly posited by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Not with our centrifugal excrescences preponderating over our centripetal proclivities. “It’s a matter for mental pabulum that we are daily drifting into our ethnic cocoons. We still remain one country with disparate ethnic agendas and I can say it for the umpteenth time again that we must sit down in a sovereign national colloquy to discuss the basis for our nationhood. Anything short of this is just vacuous scahiamachy.” |

Where Are Our Virgins? During the days of my mothers and grandmothers, virginity was the pride of every young maiden. A priceless gift they present to their long-awaiting hubby on the night of their wedding. Those days, couples looked forward to their honey moon with so much anticipation. Because for the bride (sometimes the groom too), it’s a new beginning of their sex lives. All the things they’ve heard in whispers would be totally put into practice. Wow! I could imagine how she would feel as she spread her innocent legs wide and watched the Almighty Anaconda slowly and ticklish penetrated her cubicle, breaking the gate that has been shielding it and then welcomes her into the ever- exciting world of sexual ecstasy. But could the same be said of our contemporary society? Impatience and moral decadence has really stolen the virginity pride from us. Girls wouldn’t want to be toldabout sex, they want to experiment it themselves.http://hotnaijanews.com/2012/09/18/virginity/ |

Miracles are still happening! Twenty-one-year-old Adora Ugwu is planning to be a soldier. She also wants to secure admission into one of the country’s tertiary institutions. She had put her hands on the plough of her latter dream by writing the last UMTE. But, as she was going for the other one, she died. Two days after the lady wrote the examination, she was heading for her home state of Enugu for the recruitment into the Nigerian Army when the vehicle she was travelling had a head-on collision with a similar minibus. The result: her death and that of 25 others who included four discharged members of batch B National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
