Olaide1295: This is correct. The foundation of the fuel problem of today was laid by President Yar'adua when he reversed the sale of the refineries in 2007. If private investors had been allowed to run those refineries, they'd be working now. It's a problem of many years, not just this government. However, this suffering must not go to waste. People must see more judicious use of govt. money else, another protest will surface.
SOCIALISM IS NIGERIA'S PROBLEM!!. Petrol is subsidized, Education is subsidized Rail transportation is subsidized, Healthcare is subsidized Importation has been subsidized by cheap dollars for many years until recently. Even our economy is subsidized by Oil.
Subsidy distorts markets, thats why subsidized sectors won't function properly. Everything is subsidize yet Nigerians can't afford it compared to other citizens in their own countries. Importation is subsidized yet Nigeriens import stuff through Benin or Niger Republic. Common water Nigeria can't give to her citizens let alone electricity. The system is expired and can hold, Nigeria must be restructured to free Indigenous people or get destroyed. Stop deceiving yourselves. |

Russia will gain nothing by doing so, You mean kicking France out means destabilising the region? Let it be! Before you get independence, you first fight for it, your country will be destabilised too. Look at Algeria, they faught and got their independence from France, they lost over 1.6 million lives before defeating almighty France in their country, today they are free and not like other francophone countries. Francophone and Anglophone countries in Sub-Sahara never faught for independence, they were given independence. You know independence is taken and not given, France and Britain arranged independence and gave us because the US asked them to free us. Non of the our leaders faced minor persecution as a results of fighting for independence. Today we aren't free but we keep celebrating independence every 1st Oct. The day we will get our independence from neocolonism eh, the country will be destabilised then Indigenous people will be free as we will have representatives not puppets. The time is near, the world will be restructured in Nigeria. This current Nigeria is finished and can't be saved, Nigeria will restructure to True Federalism or get destroyed by interested world powers who will turn it to battle field because no one will like to lose Nigeria entirely to their rivals because Nigeria is the potential giant of Africa. It's freedom for Indigenous people or destruction of the country. |

I remember the days of Dbanj, wandy Cole, 9ice, Tony tetula, Azadus, Tuface, Plantation boys, Konga, Olu maintain... Etc. Where are they today, most have moved on from music to other endavours. Some left the country, some became broke, some died.
It's easy to get a hit track, but it's not easy to maintain your popularity for long cos with time, you'll eventually fade away. That's why if you can survive up to 2 decades as a musician with back to back hits, the world would respect you.
Little wonder why people like Fela, Celine Dion, Snoop... Etc are know all around the world. You people keep mentioning Fella as musician, I'm yet to hear any of his song, he didn't even have popular songs or hit. But you what is your own gain? That your people are suffering and dying because you don't want an Igbo man to be president or you want to teach the Igbos a supposed lesson...
I'm not surprised though, if Tinubu who you people supported for using your lives to play politics, then you guys have concluded that your lives worth nothing to you people and it can be used anyhow to even inflate your ego....

nairalanda1: Nigeria is subsidisng fuel now..
The landing cost of fuel is close to N1200 per liter. Even with the recent hike, the government is still paying something close to N200 in subsides or more
Without subsidy we would be paying something like N1300 or more per liter of fuel
It also costs N720 to refine a liter of fuel as well. The more they increase the price of PMS the more Naira loses more value. Landing cost was not up to N800 before. |

Politics › Federal Government Don't Pay Cash For Subsidy - Indigene by AnyanwuSK(op): 2:13am On Sep 07, 2024 |
When you hear FG saying they are paying money for subsidy, that they don't have money again to pay for it. Here is the truth.
Nigerian government don't pay cash for subsidy, they use crude oil to pay for the subsidy.
NNPC don't buy import fuel(PMS) with cash, they also use crude oil to exchange substandard or impure fuel for Nigerians.
You can see that Dangote fuel is pure like pure water, that's European standard. Nigeria can't afford that for her citizens and that's why they are having problems with Dangote's refinery.
It's not a mistake that no refinery have been working in Nigeria, the refineries were deliberately allowed to spoil since they can get very cheap impure fuel and that will allow them to to loot more money.
For those of you thinking that fuel will become cheap in Nigeria if any refinery start working, you're wrong. Fuel will be more costly because it will be pure fuel and not like the cheap or inferior fuel imported.
Unless FG will be exporting the pure fuel to other countries and importing impure cheap fuel for Nigerians.
This is what will happen since they are finding it difficult to fix price for Dangote's fuel, if FG allows Dangote to fix price by himself then Nigerians won't be able to afford it as the pure fuel will be more costly for most Nigerians to afford. So, Dangote will start exporting fuel to other developed and developing countries around the world.
Meaning that Nigeria will be exporting and importing PMS at the same time.
It's very very dangerous, it means Nigerians are accepting poor standard living it Nigeria will keep going down and down to hell.
It's time for Nigeria to restructure, decentralised power and allow States to control their resources, in fact, trow away the 1999 military constitution imposed on us.
The world is coming to an end, Indigenous people should be free and walk into the New age as free people.
Current Nigeria is a slave camp
