DSC was sold by the Obasanjo government in 2005 to Arcellor Mittal for $30m, the factory that has gulped over $1.5Bn for turn around maintenance and was still moribund. Was revamped by Mittal, he brought in mechanics and technicians from India. Within 2 weeks of acquiring DSC, he started steel exportation from the same factory the Nigerian government couldn't maintain. The Yaradua government reversed the sale, which was a very big mistake. Mittal left and up until today the factory has stopped working. Premium steel couldn't maintain the factory, instead they're selling off assets belonging to DSC including DSC technical high school. Nigeria's problem has always been management problem, I still believe if the factory is sold to Mittal it will start working perfectly.
