TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by arikk001: 9:53pm On Jul 19, 2024
Even with my additional regular monthly allowance from husband and annual rent income, and the fact that my husband is sponsoring 95% of the trip, it's my salary that became the problem.

So as it is, even though my husband will sponsor me 100% without me spending anything for the trip, they will still deny me visa because of my low salary?
It is well o. Na wa. Na to pray make God change my financial situation be that from now on o
Cashmadam:
Sorry about the refusal.

Main reason: your salary is considered too low. The main issue is your salary.

Good evening Giselle. Thank you for your brilliant input. I love your brutal yet honest responses.

However, it's true that I earn 84+ as a civil servant.
It is also true that my husband sends me ₦250k as monthly allowance for upkeep. Out of this money, ₦40k is expended for both our daughters monthly upkeep and the remaining balance ₦210k is left for my own personal upkeep.

It is also true that my tenant paid me 490k annual rent to my account ( the tenant rented that place last year April and renewed the rent this year April). I submitted receipt given to the tenant, tenancy agreement and the property deed of assignment and change of ownership from my State Housing and Property Authority bearing both me and hubby's name was attached.)

In the extra information, I explained these funds in my statement and these are the only funds that enter my account and where I do all my normal monthly expenses as I don't have any other cash income asides these monies.
But I explained also that I had 1 landed properties owned soley by me and 2 owned jointly by my husband and I.

I also submitted 2 of my husband's personal savings accounts statements (Naira and Pound Sterling) showing earnings from his business, his company Registration Documents and CAC certificate (his company is also active on the website).

I also submitted my marriage certificate, all my kids birth certificates, our family pictures and explained that I wasn't traveling with them and would come back to them after my vacation.

I also submitted copies of my 6- months expired UK visit Visa in 2013 and my student visa in 2015.

As for travel Intentions, my husband was supposed to be my full sponsor as he had promised to sponsor me to visit the UK again since I hadn't visited the UK after my studies in 2015. But I thought that I could also show that from my own personal savings, I can take care of some few extra expenses that come up during the trip that was why I put ₦500k in that section.

So please what I want to know is that, where did I get it wrong? My salary account shouldn't have reflected my allowance from my husband and my rent or what? How should I have explained my allowance and my rent income part because you said my mention of these incomes with my salary in my application made it looked fake or confusing and made it them weary. How else would I have presented my personal finances of which my allowance and rent are part of my reality? Because even if my salary today increases, me and my children's allowance from my husband will not stop neither will my rent. So what was I supposed to do or how would I have presented it better? Or I shouldn't have just mentioned only my salary and exclude these other regular funds and told them my husband would sponsor me a 100%? I really don't understand this whole finance/economic part of the visa application and what the ECO expects from me fully.

Make me understand like a 5 year old please. Thank you. Sorry for the inconveniences

This might be where the problem lies.
The eco specifically said in the refusal letter that you have not portrayed a compelling financial picture as well as personal circumstances… everything looks wishy washyyy
Originally you can not afford the trip. This is true. Because you earn 84k
You then now tried to combine all manner of incomes to boost your financial position inorder that the ECO will give you visa, but instead they either got confused or saw this and were wary.
I mean why combining 84k + personal income from husband + mysterious rent of 490k which I presume is annually…
The financial picture will make anyone skeptical
Then again you said you will sponsor your trip with 500k and another money from your husband.
They have seen that you never had money of your own in the 1st place to afford this holiday as your personal circumstances too low.
Then to make matters worse… you just feel like vacationing and shopping in the UK, they expect you can go somewhere else with this lack of stable financial resources and do not necessarily have to come to the UK to vacation or shop.
I don’t think reapplying with all the join join is necessary except your husband can confidently sponsor your trip and has a very good financial picture. OR
You make your own money and have better personal finances and retry
Perhaps if you also have kids you can present their own side of the story and say they will be staying back.
How much does your husband earn monthly and did you provide his own financial statements to them perhaps to convince them that he is more than an odogwu and you would not go to the UK to become a liability and seek recourse to public funds?

If you did not provide his financial picture including his bank statements, payslips, evidence of the origin of his funds and think they will rely on your word of mouth and him transferring funds to your account…. Then no

Hi Giselle, thank you for your response. I really appreciate.
For purpose of visa, I explained that I was going for vacation, which included sightseeing, shopping etc.
For my financial/economic circumstances, I stated that I'm employed as a civil servant with 84k+ monthly. I also noted that I receive 250k monthly allowance from my husband for my personal upkeep as additional income.
I also received rent income of 490k from my tenant in one of our properties ( I showed deed)
I submitted my personal landed property document and 2 landed properties owned by my husband and I.
From my closing balance of 1.7 million I said I was going spend 500k personally but my husband will sponsor the rest of the expenses for the trip.

But the ECO still said my documents have not demonstrated compelling economic incentive to my home country.

So the incomes I receive on a monthly basis does not really make sense? And my husband's sponsorship subsequently does not help my case? Wow!

That means I need to have what sort of income range then before they can see me as economically viable?

giselle237:
You will overstay your visa as economically you have nothing that would compel you to return to Nigeria… starting from your salary of 84k… asin 40 pounds… they can not give you the visa….
Also your reason to want to visit UK with the information you provided, is not making sense to them.
All in all, you do not seem like a genuine visitor and they will mot take a chance to issue you the visa.

pls dnt reapply until you have better circumstances.. financially

Good evening guys. I've been a silent reader here. I applied for UK visitor visa 6 months on 26th June, and I just got a refusal mail.
Please I need the guru's in the house: Cash madam, Giselle, etc. to please look into their reasons and tell what they mean Honestly. Because I really don't understand the reason.

Thank you
