Bolori: 5,000 widows, aged, vulnerables get Zulum’s palliatives

Five thousand vulnerable persons, many of them widows and the aged in Bolori 1 and 2 wards, were beneficiaries of Sunday’s food palliatives, authorized by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The ward distribution, started on Friday has reached close to 10,000 persons Gwange 1, 2 and 3 wards.

The relief is to cushion the effect of the lockdown imposed by the Borno State Government for the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 in Borno State.

Engr Bukar Talba, Chairman of the high powered palliative distribution committee led the exercise.

The beneficiaries at Bolori 1 and 2 included 1000 Widows, 1000 physically challenged, 500 aged persons and 2500 vulnerable members of the the two wards.

The excersice took place in two centres of Federal Low cost Primary as well as Umarari Primary Schools consecutively.

Addressing journalists at Federal Low cost Primary School, Engr. Talba said, each beneficiary received 1 bag of rice, 1 bag of Semovita, 1 bag of millet grain, 1 carton of pasta and condiments.

Engr. Talba further commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for the foresight to approve the support for the vulnerables in time of their needs.

The committee also visited Umarari centre to monitor the progress of the exercise.

I don't stay in Onitsha even though I MUST pass through it to get to my village from Lagos. From Head Bridge to Upper Iweka before linking to Owerri/Onitsha Road for my onwards journey is okay. Well tarred roads on both sides, plazas n modern bus parks on both sides. I don't know about inner Onitsha but along the road is okay. Better than when I first stayed in Anambra for a while almost two decades ago.
