If PDP field a Northerner as their presidential candidate and the APC field a Southerner, the settings will make things more tougher for PDP. PDP can never get the kinds of votes GEJ got in 2011 and 2015 in the South South and Southeast.

The calculation favours the APC presidential candidate in 2023. The APC are in control at the centre and they have more states under their control.

I'm very sure that this politics una nor sabi am. The zones not voting for PDP is due to the Buhari effect. The North West and North East vote North and not Party. And they already have this love for Buhari. If a Southerner go against a Northerner, the two zones will vote the Northerner. If Tinubu like make he eat juju, the two zones will vote Atiku or Tambuwal.

Atiku inherited the political machinery of the major opposition party (PDP) that is what boosted his chances in 2019 not like Atiku add anything to pdp apart from his dollars.
If roles were switched and buhari was pdp candidate and Atiku was the president buhari will defeat him squarely
