Clam down bro. 1. If it is being smuggled out of Nigeria, that is an act that is illegal. Does it not mean that, even though it is an export, it is undocumented and this has NO VALUE for Nigeria? 2. The duty of givernment is not just to set up refineries as cosmetic possessions but to guarantee stability of supply. When you have arbitrary export of what is supposed to be a national product, you risk instability on the demand and supply side. 3. Illegal exports fuel insecurity. MEEVEET: So if Nigeria is not paying subsidies again so why stop people from transporting petrol to other African countries?
This explanation makes no sense
Something is cheaper in your country but you are stopping your people from selling it to other countries? |

I don't understand the connection. Does being the presidemts son truncate his judgments or does being a president's son mean that his business associations must be failures? Are you suggesting that the president's sin cannot be or part own a company with capacity? moshino: And the contract was awarded to a company owned by tinubu's son, and tinubu friend's son, without due process. A brand new company that never built 10 km road previously, and without open bids from other companies. You don't see anything wrong with it? |

Sometimes I think that the problem is with some of you guys. A poor understanding of how things work usually drive these kinds of talks. Because I do not understand how strange this is hitting you coming from the Chairman of a political party. What do you expect from the leader of a political.party really? Maybe you need to have your expectations realistically calibrated. Otherwise, why are you not also asking him to weigh in on the issues of drug abuse in Nigeria's youth, the crash of CBEX, Nigerias poor failing at World Cup qualifiers, the prevalence of online prostitutes. Etc. A party chairman discusses politicis and you are here writing that he should discuss security as a priority. Is he now your IG, or DSS DG, or NIA Boss or Commissioner of Police or the Army Chief? nwakibie3: Thun.der fire Gaduje. At no time will any project of this scale not evoke questions, complaints and condemnation (in some cases). This is where the will of vision sets in - one that looks beyond tofay to the future. America built roads all over the huge mass of land - they looked ahead and didn't import these little, though valid sentiments, into what would be the I-10, I-20s of today. If you look at the vast road network of the US, you will see and understshd why this is as needed as advertised. We can't only be living for now or be working like locomotives - looking for perfection. Imagine all the states that this road is crossing through and how it it will impact logistics in 10 years time if I can do Calabar in 6 hours from Lagos. It's bigger than these issues you raise. PlasmaTV: While the Lagos/Calabar coastal road would be an interesting sight, I have many problems with it:
1) The government should first tidy up federal roads and make them drivable and safe. I've been to many parts of this country, and our federal roads are a deathtrap. Roads should be easily drivable, without senseless potholes.
2) Will this road be completed on time? I have a strong feeling that this road will eventually be a white elephant project that won't be completed in the next 10 years. Investing billions on a long stretch of road while the existing ones are an eyesore is ridiculous to me.
3) Why wasn't this project bid for? Why was it awarded without other construction companies submitting their bid? Sounds very tyrannical and impulsive. For a project this large, and this expensive, there should have been a fair bidding process.
4) Why are we spending so so so much on a road, when we have other more pressing issues? An estimated cost of more than 3tr is to be spent on this road. Why? Why not spend same money on kickstarting 24/7 electricity? Why not invest it in interstate security, so that kidnapping would be a thing of the past? Why not spread the money across other more important projects?
So many questions, so little answers. I have many reservations.
PS: Please respect your family name and don't drag tribalism or stupidity into this. If you wanna argue, engage the use of your brain. Selah |

O my, these guys are incurable. 15T in 8 years!!! MakindeHassan: It’s people like you that have the small mind honestly. N15tn on a road in 2025? If you do not fix production and have stable policies to attract investment, a road will not perform magic to boost your economy. If you like build the most beautiful road in the world, if your production is not active then it is useless.
Dubai did not start building roads when they discovered oil. They invested in more strategic ventures and the profit built the roads. We are borrowing money to build road that we cannot maintain. Hope you realize that road will require maintenance every 5-10 years and we already have highways we cannot maintain. A heavy rail line would have even made more sense.
Do you know how many other things we could invest N15trillion that would bring in yields? If BAT knows one secret about how this road will bring on trillions to the economy let him tell us. Transparency is key if you want people to see your vision. |

Otherwise, you do not need a million men to guard your forests - the so called advanced qorld do not do that. They achieve that with: - digital footprints management - sound records - enhanced technologies and - well integrated security forces and systems.

You clearly lack understandingof the procedure and the letters issued by INEC. TOTAL LACK OF UNDERSTANDING kelly72: By the provision of law, every signature on that list must have a name, address and phone number and these details must tally with the details on the voter register for the constituency concerned. They know some of you are starkly ignorant and that's why they proceed with impunity.
Only about 20 people sat to sign those 250,000 signatures, that's why they had no time to copy the addresses and phone numbers. Again, if they put phone numbers, the fraud will quickly cast.

I have not encountered more witty brilliance than this on Nairaland! Perfectbeing: He should have followed the populist line. It's simple. Just ask Cardoso to issue N20trn in ways and means. Mop up lower denominations of the currency and issue 5k, 10k, and 20k notes.
Leave the interest rate and blast the money on fuel subsidy. Ask JP Morgan for more funds, and use NLNG as collateral to defend the Naira, sell more oil in the futures market. Maintain the fuel price and FX rate. If the black market hits N4,000, let it be so as long as the official rate is N500. If we default on payment of our loan obligations, let everyone face the consequences. Tell NNPC to provide 6 months of fuel supply stock and manage 6 months of scarcity and fuel queues.
Burn the reserves, nobody cares, let imports be scare, there is enough Naira to pay any amount for goods. Issue another ways and means and increase minimum wage. There is no need for any tax reform. Just continue to pump Naira at any cost into the economy. Redenominate the currency in 2026 like Ghana and remove 2 Zeros before the elections.
Check out after 8 years for the next person. |

Knowing Nigerians, they will ask why you need a road like that when the roads are okay. Then people like you then would scream Mispalxe Priorities! Tinubu should continue biko. People will ALWAYS have opinions, tested or not. Zionmdde: It's a beautiful project. The only downside of this project is the timing at a time where akwa ibom to cross rivers is a deadly venture, Eleme Road is a death trap, Warri to benin something else, Imo to Anambra, PH to Imo is hell and so on and so forth, doing a project like this is a misplaced priority.
How many Nigerians will loose their lives on these highways before the coastal road is completed?. Assuming they focused on putting all federal highway in order, before venturing into the coastal raod, it would have been absolutely lovely |
