So much nonsense here. Is the GOVENROR an appointee? That he needs to resign to contest an election? Why don't you just pause and think this through? The senate has and has had many Govenrors, did they resign? Think please. BigYash: Yes,he needs to. He can't be on the seat, then pursuing another office. Even those in Bat's cabinet resigned as well, when he told them to ,if they had got intention of pursuing another office..
That was how minister of darkness, said he wants to be governor of On Your Own. Oyo State.. he has since resigned |

Business › Re: Naira Posted Its First Annual Gain In 13 Years by AsgardKing: 5:48am On Feb 03 |
Speculation has been minimized because the difference between the official rate and black market is now under 5%. Si when the official rate of the dollar was N450 the market rate was N800 - over 85% in commissions and arbitrage. That has been cut down to 5% and this is what foreign investors seek - a stable forex market so that they can know the true value of their money. Not to buy black market today, and then repatriation happens via official rates meaning they lose a lot or have to work thrice as hard. NaijaphiliaBlog: Naira Posted Its First Annual Gain In 13 Years

I like brilliant people like you. Incisive understanding of the issues. Not sentimental BS nairalanda1: If they appointed Adesina as president, he would do more than remove subsides on petrol, even subsidies on electiricty would go AND there would be massive cuts in the civil service and an even wider ranging tax law , more wide ranging than tinubu's own, and also cashless policy would be ruthlessly ensured. And nothing like cheap universites again...and absolute meritrocracy would be introduced...and it won't just be hausas affected by the way.
Something you should realize about Adeshina and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is that they are proper economists, not politicans. And proper economists take hard decisions most people don't like. If GEJ had followed Adeshina, NOI and SLS to the letter in 2012, by now you would be calling them wicked and evil people. |
Celebrities › Re: “Tax Don Start” — Influencer Cries Out After Paying ₦487,500 VAT On ₦6.5 Million by AsgardKing: 9:31am On Jan 03 |
Thank you for addressing the sentimental BS that's everywhere. seunmsg: You’re capping nonsense. Is VAT a new tax? If she had made the same purchases last year, would she not have paid the exact same amount as VAT? So, why will any manufacturer increase price in January over a VAT law that has been in effect since the 90’s?
Again, are you aware that with effect from 1st of January, 2026, Company Income Tax has reduced from 30% to 25%? So, will manufacturers whose CIT has been reduced force any price increment on their customers? Does that make any sense? Are you even aware that companies with an annual turnover of < 100m are now fully exempt from CIT? So, why will such companies push any increment to customers? |

Politics › Re: Who Lives Better: Income Of ₦1.5 Million In Nigeria Or $1,000 In The US? by AsgardKing: 7:31am On Oct 25, 2025 |
I'd rather read you over and over again than the decisively porous opinions I read earlier. Many cannot argue with so much ignorance otherwise what's the nonsense I read by some about 98% of people that japad never returned, etc etc. Such hollow understanding of issues on this forum atimes. Otherwise who can survive $1000 per month in the US if you are not barely surviving. What type of house would you be living in and how do you pay bills in winter with $1000 except you are a squatter? People Yan so much nonsense. 1.5M in Nigeria lives a far better human existence than the $1000 in UK, USA, AUSTRALIA, anywhere. If you have an inverter, what do you need the Gen for? If you are in Band A, you are likely having good electricity. If I spent N20,000 a day on Glovo for good food delivery to my house, I wouldn't have spent even 50% of that 1.5M for the entire month. DoTheNeedful: I have been living in the US for almost a decade, and I can tell you that value of $1,000 in the US is less than 90k in Nigeria.
It is surprising that many of you, including graduates, don't understand that you can't just arbitrarily convert dollars or pounds to naira in this context.
You cannot start a family anywhere in the US with $1, 000. You would need at least a job that pays you $6,000 per month to think of marriage. An ideal monthly salary would be around $10,000.
With 1.5 million in Nigeria, you can afford to marry a jobless partner, support two children, and own a decent car.
You could eat out in Nigeria with 2k, but eating out in the US would cost you around 25 dollars (35k). I get a haircut every month for $50 (75k) in the US. In Nigeria, I could get the same haircut for around 1k.
If you have a baby in the US, you would need to spend around $2,000 (3 million) per month on day care. In Nigeria, you would pay maybe 50k.
I laugh each time I see some posts on social media converting people's salary in UK/US/CA to naira, thinking the naira equivalent of those figures have the same impact in those countries. It is unfortunate that some people have such mentality.
That being said, if you manage to have some savings in places like US and you bring such to Nigeria, you could tie up a project. |

Is the February election not fresh into the new year when the same politicians would have stacked money up for the new year SlavaUkraini: Hmmm 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔
They now want to weaponize the election date
Most citizens are looking for money (and in some cases Bags of Rice) in November preparing for the festive seasons ...

Where the politician with the largest warehouse of Rice, Garri and Groundnut Oil will likely be the winner

The president is way smarter than imagined. Nigerians will experience a FREE and FAIR election hence why he is making very strong political moves. Now, his successors are being set up because they will not be able to undo the upcoming cleaner format that the 2027 election would be because the Tinubu reference would be strong.
The guest is, if IREV worked well, would Peter win? If IREV worked well, would Atiku win?
Now Tinubu has incumbency to win and doesn't need the INEC, be will bequeath a clean INEC election in 2031. The question then would be, would the politicians then be able to withstand FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS that Amupitan would oversee. |
