Family / Re: How To Concieve A Male Child by AskDrKendra(f): 8:29pm On Mar 22, 2018
StarUp:
The only way to get a male child is to eat lots of acidic fruits like orange, apple, lemon, lime, grapes etc...the acid in the fruits kill the weak sperms and gives strength to the male producing sperms. Eat those fruits six months before meeting your wife and let her also eat it to help you augment the process and the rest will be history. This is tested and trusted.

Kk then.
Family / How To Concieve A Male Child by AskDrKendra(f): 8:15pm On Mar 22, 2018
Yes I know, every child is a gift, however in our society, boys are valued more than the female species which brings me to this topic..... How to Concieve a Male Child.

I sought to have a male child, did my little research online and came up with these basic facts which worked cos now I have a male child

1. Eat lots of bananas and red meat cos the male spermatozoa loves potassium... This makes zero sense since no research has backed it up yet but hey, it was kinda the simplest thing to do so I ate those bananas and chowed lots of Suya.

2. KNOW WHEN YOU Ovulate! I can't stress this enough. Tried at first to use the ovulation kit and abandoned it pretty quickly cos it doesn't tell you exactly when you ovulate but predicts when you are about to ovulate in the next 24 to 48hrs which to me wasn't good enough. To know exactly when you ovulate, look for a competent radiologist to use an ultrasound to track your eggs.

3. In addition to using the ultrasound, check for physical signs like stringy vaginal secretions, mid cycle pain, pimples/oily face etc. You should know how your body changes during ovulation.

4. When you are absolutely sure of when you ovulate in your cycle, look for these 2 calenders: Chinese Calender and Mayan calendar. There are lots of calenders out there but go to baby center.com for the two. They will essentially tell you the months to have sex with your hubby if you want a male child.

5. After ovulation, and please note the word after, sleep with your hubby preferably the doggy style or missionary preferably 6 hours later ( you want the egg to be waiting comfortably in the fallopian tube ready to receive the male spermatozoa which is faster than the female spermatozoa) This is not the time for weird sexual positions. After sex, raise your hips up by putting a pillow behind your lower back and wait for a few minutes.

5. Hope for the best.

What you must never do
1. Never sleep with your hubby 3 days before ovulation. If I were you, I will make that a week.
2. Never believe the myth that every woman ovulates on the 14th day of her cycle.... You will be amazed.
3. Yes, lots of factors can affect your ovulation, so try not to overdo it. Be the normal you as much as you can.
4. The process of ovulation releases pheromones which makes your man to literally hunt you down for sex.... Resist this temptation until your ovulation day.

Best of luck

Please my baby of five months keeps having these recurrent rashes around his neck, I have taken it to be heat rash cos he sweats a lot, and due to the weather, but there is this particular rash that reoccurs on his back and arm that appears in a ring like form, so he might have like two of it on his back, I haven't seen a pediatrician but i have seen doctors and they all prescribed baby tribotan but nothing is working. Please what can I do.

if tribotan is not working. It is unlikely to be fungal. Looks like seborrheic dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. Essentially it is a skin disease with triggers and can mimic a fungal infection. It can also be chronic. Try topical hydrocortisone and apply on affected area twice a day. You can get that at any pharmacy shop.

Please, avoid funbact A esp in children. It has a steriod component that is way too high for children.

Hi Dr. Kendra. My 4year old fell off a chair and landed on his elbow
Thankfully xray revealed no fracture. It been 2weeks now and the area around his elbow is still a bit swollen., we still massage it using a Robb-like ointment from d hospital. Yet, he can't straighten the arm. He cries out when we try to straighten it out. What can we do?

Sounds like something is still.ongoing there and my best bet is a fracture. I will like to know this, did an orthopedic surgeon see the x ray? or better still, a specialist in radiology. My dear, there are so many types of fractures and in kids, a lot more. And most of them requires a trained eye for detection on an x ray. Some breaks are so thin that it can be missed by the best of us.

Please see an orthopedic surgeon and soon enough.

It's worse at night and even when the weather is cold

Sounds more like an allergy to me. Asides from actively preventing him from cold with sweaters, blankets, etc, i will advice you to see any paediatrician within your vicinity to listen to his chest and for further review and management.
Now coming to the management you have been giving so far, it is unsafe to give cough syrup to children less than 4 years. Its efficacy and side effects in children that young are yet to be studied and alongside with other reasons is generally considered unsafe and even dangerous for kids that young.

Currently, there is an outcry on the increase of "super-bugs"eg bacteria, viruses etc due to indiscriminate use of antibiotics. These bugs are resistant to antibiotics at our disposal today having learnt from constant exposure to antibiotics to sheath their swords. At the end of the day, children will be the worst hit.

So, dear, antibiotics and cough syrup seem to play no role in your child's plight. Please see a doctor as i cant precribe the drugs needed online here. It will be unethical.

Hi @askdrKendra goodmorning! Please my 2 year old doesnt eat any "solids" he was EBF till 6months of age! And after that its semi solids hes been on, I tried mashing foods and veggie for him but he does not take them, cereals, juices, cookies and water ( he likes to drink water) and boiled eggs, sometimes boiled fish are all he exists on sad asides his lack of appetite for a wider food range he is quite a healthy bubbly boy, but I am concerned about any long term effects this might have on him and if theres anything I can do to improve his feeding habits thank you.

My dear, can i just say that this is quite peculiar with that age group. I have a 2 year old too and i am going through same now. I need you to be patient with him. He will eventually learn to eat like us "humans". I am glad you mentioned that he is a healthy bubbly boy....he must be eating right to be that way. As long as he is getting his major and minor nutrients from his mashed meals, there is really nothing to worry about. Again, there are no long term effects to worry about like i explained earlier. If you must do anything asides what you are doing now, try cutting up his solids eg yam into little cubes on weekends ie when he will not go to school to allow for that extra time it will take to finish his meal. You can also use that opportunity to introduce new meals. As long as you are both relaxed, and meal times are kept happy and fun, i am sure he will pick up.

Hello Dr, I have a 3 yrs old child. She has been coughing for one month now. I have given have 3 different brands of cough syrup and antibiotics. What can I do, pls help

I am sorry to hear this. I can understand how distressing it must be. Now, lets talk about the cough. Cough is our  body's own defensive mechanism to clear dirt or any foreign particle from our airways. In a way, it is a good thing. It also informs us when there is an infection or an allergy. In children, there is increased tendency to cough because of their narrow airways, so any insult further narrows this airway and sends a signal to the brain, hence the cough.

In medicine, any cough lasting about a month or more is called chronic cough. And though there are many causes of this, the most common in children is allergy? So, is your baby's cough worse at night or early morning?  Does it seem to come when the weather is cold? When she breaths, is there any sound? Finally does she snore at night?

Might i also add, that it is quite dangerous giving your child different antibiotics and cough syrup at just age 3. Will explain further when you have answered my questions above.
