The Nigerian Army has said it will court martial a serving two-star General (name withheld) for corruption related charges. Nigerian Army said it will court martial a serving general for corruption. New Telegraph reports that the serving Major General has been sent to Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison, Abuja, for jurisdiction. The general is expected to appear before a General Court Martial (GCM), which will be inaugurated for his trial. In a document obtained by this medium dated December 18, 2015, and titled: ‘Posting And Appointment/ Amendment /Deletion NA Officers’ showed that the affected senior officer was posted from Lagos to Abuja for jurisdiction, with effect from December 31 last year. A source said the Major General will be court-martialled on offences bordering on alleged official corruption. The details of the corrupt practices were not clear as at press time. “The General is to face trial before a court martial over his alleged involvement in official corruption. He has been investigated by a military investigative panel, which may have recommended the anticipated court martial,” the sources said. When the spokesman of AHQ Garrison, Col. Aliyu Yusuf, was contacted, he said: “Not for now; if there is anything, I will get in touch with you.” Attempts to contact the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, proved abortive as he refused to reply the message sent to him. A military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity said an officer posted for jurisdiction is expected to face court martial. “When an officer or soldier is posted for jurisdiction, what it means is that he is to be court-martialled for an alleged offence or offences, which had been investigated and report of possible indictment turned in. “In fact, an officer or soldier posted for jurisdiction remains at the said jurisdiction until the trial process runs its full course,” a source said. The document marked AHQ MS/G 1/300/207, showed that 799 officers were affected in the posting and appointment. Among the senior officers are 32 Major Generals and 160 Brigadiers- General. Others include 211 Colonels, among other officers. In the posting and appointment, which was signed by MH Garba, a Major General and Military Secretary (Army), it states that: “The posting and appointment of the under- mentioned officers is authorised with effect from the dates shown against their names. READ ALSO: Army Discovers Arms And Ammunition From Shiite Group “It is the responsibility of all formation/unit commanders whose officers are affected by this posting to implement accordingly. Officers must take over on the effective dates indicated. Formation/unit commanders will be held responsible for lapses in the implementation of the directives contained therein.” Meanwhile, a general court martial sitting at the AHQ garrison in October 2015, dismissed Brig.-Gen. Enitan Ransome-Kuti, a former commander of the disbanded Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Baga, Borno state. The GCM took the decision after finding Ransome-Kuti guilty of failure to perform military duty. The one-star general was sentenced to six months imprisonment, on a second count, which bordered on miscellaneous offence relating to service property. Recall that last week, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) warned that: “The military, like any segment of the government institution, operates within the laws. So, whoever goes in parallel with law of the land must be held accountable to move our country forward.” cc:lalasticlala https://www.naij.com/692092-corruption-read-nigerian-army-serving-general.html |

Henry240: That's the Igirigi. What we now know as the Igirigi, is designed by engineers of the Nigerian army and Streit group Nigeria built on a Ford F-150 chassis. The final product is a J.V, however it's the intellectual property of Nigeria. Every export of the Igirigi by Streit Nigeria has to receive the blessing of the Nigerian army. There's no need to be confused. lalasticlala let them no we are now selling arms cc: henry240 bidexiii

I just tire for this military... When they won't pick the right people to go to NDA, they will pick their own children that r not ready for it at all... Can u just imagine ... The Military is like this because the most patriotic Nigerians r not picked in the Military go to NDA and see for yourselves ull be disappointed |
