Hello people, I desperately need someone that we can practice together outside our different classes. Preferably someone in A1.2 level, but A1.1 is also good. Someone we can practice together, compare notes and ideas. Please you must already be taking classes and a very serious minded person. Please indicate and I'll connect with you.

Please always be careful when buying tigernuts
I bought one from aboki
And i ate half of it there at the spot
Only for me to look over and see the bucket he was using to soak the tiger nuts cry highly disgusting

I ran home and forced myself to vomit all that i ate.
This morning i had a long time in toilet shitting recklessly.

Be careful when you buy roadside eatables
Sorry about that

Apart from tiger nut, don’t eat any fruit/food unwashed.

It’s recommend to wash under a running tap before eating.

Personally, I don’t but already cut fruits or fruit salad outside. I buy the fruit, wash, cut then eat

Emmafly:
With due respect to the op, you should have tried to get feedback before the venture and then make your investing decisions. But it seems you have already engaged your investments before looking for advice.
I am proud to say I have been following epainos since the times he was on pistotita and fluentinfor moniker and I have never regretted taking his advice on this forum in the agriculture section. Even his criticisms of his are legendary advice if you really don't want to make gross mistakes.
All what he has said is correct. The most competitive and riskiest of businesses is agriculture and it is also full of opportunists. Only real farmers who fear God will tell you the truth when venturing into agriculture.
I will advise you to avoid extending the lease, do shorter life span crop like the cassava and use the proceeds to acquire a land for longer span crops.
Agribusiness is not a get rich quick or wealth flaunt game, it is a business where you pay attention to every detail because the loss in agriculture is irrecoverable. I was gifted a free land to farm and after the first harvest the owner became jealous without me knowing. Owner waited for me to do the next planting and at flowering told me to come and clear my crops that she want to plant corn. I had no choice but to succumb.
I wish you all the best.
Hmm, thanks so much for the input boss

Delve:
I have been following this thread and I think I should just give my honest opinion.

To start with, I am a pig farmer and I have done plantain farming before. All what Epainos has been saying are all through.

I want to appreciate the op that created this thread and started this journey but I can find fault in this your journey. #5000/month per room for pigs is too high but maybe it's due to your location because here, I rent #10,000/year, hope you see the difference.

Also for your crop farming, I pray you don't have bitter experience on that. Farm owners do take advantage when they see that their leased land is used for crop with longer life span. After the expiry of the agreed duration for leasing, they can just say that they want to make use of their land and you will be left with no choice than to vacate... Don't think they will sell that same land to you.... They will not do that.

I wish you success in your agric journey
Amen

Thank you so much boss

epainos:
Hmmmm. I will give you clue...go and make further research. If I start telling you many things here, your consultants are reading. They will use another method to injure you. But for the sake of readers, I will drop two hints.

1. Stay away from people who jump to advise you especially that dr.doc. Please, stay away. I won't say much about it. If he is your consultant, use wisdom to handle him. I won't say much. Check everything everyone tells you well. Do not just listen to me too. Check what I have posted here.

2. Pineapple is a perennial crop that can give you back to back income for around 7 years or more if you take care of it well. So, do you think 2 or 3 years lease is a wise decision? And can anyone allow you have a longer lease? Use this information to see if its a wise decision to lease a land for pineapple production. Since there are not so many pineapple farmers around...go and consult banana and plantain farmers. Ask them...do they lease land and how long if they do? If they say yes, ask them the procedure. Also ask the pros and cons. Consultants always tell lies about its lifespan. Lol. Don't listen to that quack adviser.

Guy, real farmers are already smiling. They won't say much. cheesy I have finished my job here. With the questions I have giving you to ask around, you will understand everything very well. Even without asking anyone, anyone can use his/her common sense to quickly get my point.

Let me give you jara.

3. Do not start even that pig farm until you have answers to the questions. You will be shocked what you will unravel.

Goodluck!
Thank you chief

Please don't be weary in letting your advice if possible, I'm not under the influence of any consultant

1. I'll do well to make continuous research. The person you mentioned only made a comment here just like you, I don't know him personally. (Seems you guys have issue, well, please settle it amicably smiley)

2. Now I get your submission about the year of current lease just as DrDoc buttressed. As I mentioned before this reply, the plan is to purchase the land outrightly, although it's not in the current agreement. So I'll work on extending the lease period.

3. Well, for the pig, there is not going back in the stage I am currently. They are two different operations, in different locations, with different advisors I've been engaging.

Thanks for the input, really appreciate
AgricultureRe: My Journey Into Agriculture - Crop&&Animal (PICTURES) by atesunate16(op): 7:39pm On Jan 25, 2025
DrDoc:
Make sure that you pay for three years lease, so that if there is any delay in the production cycle that sees the frutiting enter into the third year, the land owners wont want to take advantage of the situation. You are on track. You will learn as you continue on your journey.
Alright thank you

The plan is to purchase the land outrightly

However, the available resource is not available for that

So the goal is to purchase it outrightly.

Following your advice, I'll work on adding another year to the agreed lease

Thanks

5*12 months=60k per room * only God knows how many rooms you have collected...I hope you did your market analysis very well sha...and for the crops, all I can say is "May God continue to strengthen you cuz this is going to be a very difficult journey, but i pray you win"
Yes I did some surveys in the locality here

I got a discount for the rooms

Starting with 5 rooms

2 to house the incoming sows till they farrow

Then utilise 2 more after weaning

I'll get boar just before the next cycle in a room

Would also use part of a room for store

What do you think?

I think you should stay with software oooo. 2 years leased for pineapple. Na waooo. Who dey advise you people? Damn! Cassava, pineapple and corn. Lol. That guy wey wan cash out has already cashed out selling his suckers. Anyway, I hope you are making dollars with your software stuff...cos it is very sure you will face serious challenges.

I'm just for waiting, and it is very sure that you will stop updating or start lamenting as soon as success is close by. They will make you invest very well and the time you start harvesting pineapple, you will understand. Happy spending.
Good day chief

2 years lease... Too much or not enough?

What challenges do you envisage?

Thanks

UPDATE: ANIMAL

I plan to start small. After several consultations, I have decided to acquire two pregnant sows.

I visited the proposed pen today and had a discussion with the owner. I'll be renting five pens:

Place each sow in a separate room for them to farrow
Utilize two more rooms after weaning
Keep one room for feeds and all other supplies
A room costs #5,000 per month

Also today, I went around to check for good sows and priced them. They are expensive, but I'm still negotiating.

Later in the week, I'm going to prepare the pen, fumigate, and get things ready for the Queen Mothers.
