torkaka: and why is it that ibeto wants to dodge taxes and duty? angry
He is not dodging taxes or duties. He was given the relief to enable him recover from the loss he incured within the period his factory was closed down which I know was engineered by Dangote.

CareerRe: Should I Resign? by Audinowing(m): 5:08am On Jul 19, 2012
dkolu: @spicy and skil_ict i really appreciate your comments, advise and encouragement. as you all mentioned the most important thing is to be focused and have the bigger picture in mind.that is what have been keeping me on the job. However it has been really challenging especially on the assignment part i am not asking that i should be told what to do at everypoint in time but at least some guidelines and training on d job is not asking for too much. Or is it?
I think u need to look around for other audit firms that will provide a better working condition. What makes you a good auditor is constant training and development and from the look of things you re not getting this in your current place of work. Remember, the requirements n demands on the profession keep on increasing every day n its only the updated that gets the job n the goodwill. ITS NOT ALL ABOUT WORKING HARD BUT THINKING SMART!
CareerRe: Professional Accountants, Let's Meet Here by Audinowing(m): 4:45am On Jul 19, 2012
mrjimmy: hello all. B.A, AAT.
I'm currently studying for my pe 1 exams. however, the failure rate in the past exam scares me a bit. I would appreciate materials that will aid my passing.
also, I heard that one needs to have work experience to pass pe exams. I don't have such, though I did my ATS without any reference. do I need to garner experience beforehand, or am I grounded enough?
You re grounded enough considering the fact that u ve gone through Ats. All u need is a good tutorial centre and constant reading (do not read outside the syllabus except AAA). You do not need any experience to pass ICAN exams
CareerRe: Professional Accountants, Let's Meet Here by Audinowing(m): 4:32am On Jul 19, 2012
Jarus: I'm always surprised how people fail AAA and other auditing courses. For any ICAN candidate that works in a Finance/Accounting unit, I honestly don't think he needs to read before passing AAA. If he reads, he should be able to grab it at once. Auditing is usually the cheapest course for me. Before I moved to Tax, Tax used to be the most difficult for me.
I do not agree with you. To me AAA is one paper that u can not boast of passing easily. May be you ve a technique to share with us on how to pass it with ease. I ve wrote AAA twice without passing it why? If one can pass mighty MA and FA what then do I do to crush AAA? Are u ACA?

CareerRe: HND Accountancy Vs BSc Accounting by Audinowing(m): 11:36pm On Jul 05, 2012
mikeapollo: Have you compared the standard of qualification required for entrance into universities and polytechnics?

Until recently, Nigerian polytechnics were admitting candidates with just 3 credits at WAEC/O Level(even if without Engl/Maths) while Universities dis not compromise on 5 credits at a maximum of 2 sittings. There was also JAMB requirement(very tough in those years) for university admission while the Polytechnics had no entrance exams!

So the standards were different.
University education gives an all-round education in other field related to your discpline, while polytechnics tend to concentrate more on ur discipline.

However, this does not mean that a university student is more intelligent or more brilliant than a poly student. It only means that one is comng from an environment with higher expected standards.
In the end, a poly graduate can do better if he works hard (likewise for a university graduate)
.
But there should be no controversy.....University education is at a higher level than Poly education. Not only in Nigeria, but worldwide. But the Nigerian situation of unemployment has made everybody to rush for the ultimate choice(university education) in order to have a better chance of securing jobs in the labour market. Both schools play very important roles in the economy/educational sector.

The best universities are almost always a notch higher than the best polytechnics
Can not be more correct.
