On Dec. 25th, Nigerians & the world @ large were awakened by the horrifying news of a failed suicide-bomb attempt on a passenger flight destined for the United States.The news wouldn't have courted so much attention(@ least to us) if this terror suspect was not a Nigerian because Terrorism as we all know is now the order of the day.Thank God he didn't succed but he,nonetheless,sent a strong message to the world that Terrorism has come to stay & that this menace is no respecter of age,class,background,nor geographical boundaries.Finally,we have completed the cycle of evil.We are now officially a threat to global peace.Since then several comments and reactions have trailed the incident with many condemning the inhuman,dastardly act of the attempted bomber.Many Nigerians,both home & Diaspora,are still in a state of utter shock that a fellow countryman is capable of attempting such a wicked,callous act.A friend of mine even told me the news had left him traumatised & had spoilt his Christmas mood.But does this lad deserve our attention? Did he see himself as a Nigerian when he decided to yield to callousness rather than to conscience? Did he care about the image of his motherland and the people therein?I don't intend to say much but i hope my question gets an answer.Does the now infamous Umar Farook Abdulmutallab see himself as one of us? Does he regard himself a Nigerian?
