PoliticsSubstituting Labour Party Constitution With Stakeholders By Olumide Akpata by Austoboh123(op): 8:58pm On Jul 12, 2024
*The Folly Of Substituting The Labour Party Constitution with a Stakeholders Committee By The Barr Olumide Akpata Campaign Team.*

The Labour Party constitution does not give any group called "Labour Party stakeholders" the power to constitute a national transition committee for the party.

Here are key observations from the constitution:

*1. Lack of Authority for Stakeholders to Act.*
*• Lack of Constitutional Authority:*
• It should be noted that the "Political Commission of the NLC" so called is a front for Comrade Joe Ajaero as the group is unknown to the Labour Party as such lacks powers to convene a meeting of 'stakeholders' to deliberate, let alone take any decision which will have a binding effect on a legally constituted party leadership.

*• The Labour Party constitution does not recognize any "Labour Party stakeholders" group that has the authority to take actions like setting up a transition committee.*

*2. Disputed Legitimacy of Actions*
• The Labour Party has rejected the actions of the stakeholders" meeting, since it is an "illegal assembly of a handful of aggrieved former members of the party and some 'social media tigers' who are not card-carrying members of LP.

• The party has stated that the resolutions taken at the "stakeholders" meeting "will again fall like a pack of cards" and have no binding effect on the legally constituted party leadership.

*Let's Not Forget..*
• The Labour Party constitution does not grant any "Labour Party stakeholders" group the authority to constitute a national transition committee for the party.

• The actions of the stakeholders meeting are illegitimate and without any legal standing.

• The party constitution vest decision-making power in the party's own structures, not external stakeholder groups.
