There comes a time when a people must ask themselves the hard, uncomfortable question: What are we doing? The government that hasn't delivered on the promises of today is already preparing for tomorrow, chanting slogans and building structures for 2027 elections when the country is in crisis, and the people are bleeding silently. Our economy is on life support. Inflation has reduced dignity to survival. Food is now a luxury. Fuel is unreachable. Electricity is elusive. And hope is vanishing. Yet amidst all this those who claim to lead us have one goal in mind: another campaign. Another lie. Another seat. They Ask Us for Votes, but Give Us Nothing in Return How can a government plan for elections when: • Children are dropping out of school because their parents can no longer afford fees? • Hospitals are death traps, where the poor go to die, not to heal? • Security is a fantasy with kidnappings and killings no longer shocking, just normalized? • The currency is worthless, and even salary earners are now counted among the poor? They fly in chartered jets. We queue for buses. They hold lavish birthday parties. We bury children due to malnutrition. They live in mansions funded by our taxes. We squat, pray, and suffer in silence. And yet, they have the audacity to talk about 2027. What About Now? Democracy, we were told, was government of the people, by the people, for the people. But what we have is a democracy for the powerful, by the greedy, against the people. They tell us to “work hard,” while their children are abroad — well-fed, well-schooled, and well-protected. When last did you hear of a governor’s child kidnapped? A senator’s daughter dying due to bad healthcare? Or a minister’s son hustling to pay rent? You haven’t and you won’t. Because poverty is a tool, and they are its architects. We Are Being Used Every election cycle, they dust off old lies, repackage them as “renewed hope,” and feed them to us. They know we are desperate. They know hunger silences voices. They know poverty weakens resistance. So, they exploit it. They weaponize hardship. They bribe with rice. They promise with no intention of keeping any of it. And when you complain, they say: “It will get better.” When? When our dignity is gone? When our youth have all turned to crime or fled the country? When death becomes preferable to living? Nigeria Is Burning, and They're Holding a Party Billions are being spent on new government houses. On SUVs. On estacodes. On “fact-finding missions.” Meanwhile, people are selling their children to feed others. Young boys are dying in phone thefts. Girls are being trafficked. Mothers are begging. Fathers are vanishing into shame and depression. And what do we get in return? A timetable for 2027. This Is Not a Rant. This Is a Warning. Nigeria cannot afford another round of recycled lies. The people are tired. The country is boiling beneath the surface. And a nation that doesn’t listen to the cries of the poor is only postponing its own destruction. We cannot keep worshiping men who have failed us. We cannot keep clapping for politicians who eat while we starve. We cannot keep electing those who see us as tools, not humans. Wake Up, Nigeria. There is no savior coming. We must stop waiting and start demanding. Real change won’t come from those who benefit from our pain. It must come from us, from our refusal to forget, to forgive failure, to normalize suffering. "There was a country," Chinua Achebe wrote. If we don't rise now, those words will become a prophecy. |
I am reaching out for your kind support to help me overcome a challenging period in my life. In December last year, I was involved in a deal to purchase two iPhone 12 Pro Max phones for a trusted client. The supplier, Wholesale Gadgets Store on Instagram, turned out to be a well-orchestrated scam. The individual had every appearance of legitimacy—over 42,000 followers, professional product images, customized branded packaging, and transaction receipts that convinced me and many others of their authenticity. We even reached an agreement to ensure mutual trust: I would send ₦1,000,000 first, with the balance of ₦104,000 to follow once the phones were secured. To my shock, after transferring the funds to alleged company's account with the bank name sterling bank and the account name bearing the name of the store, the supplier refused to release the phones until I sent the remaining balance. Trapped and desperate to honor my agreement with my client, I sent the balance, trusting his earlier assurances. That was the last I heard from him. My calls, messages, and efforts to recover the money went unanswered. Since then, my life has been turned upside down. I owe a total of ₦1,160,000, and although my family has helped me pay back ₦600,000, I still owe ₦545,000. The client, understandably upset, has been pressuring me daily. I have visited the police, EFCC, and explored all possible legal routes, but none have yielded results. I never imagined finding myself in this situation. I take full responsibility for what happened, but the weight of this debt has left me sleepless, jobless, and emotionally drained. I am reaching out to kind-hearted individuals to help me raise the remaining ₦545,000 and rebuild my life. No amount is too small, and every contribution brings me one step closer to clearing this debt and starting fresh. Your support means more than words can express—whether it’s a donation, sharing this with others, or even connecting me to job opportunities. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I promise to learn from this experience and help others avoid similar scams in the future. You can reach out to me on this line +2348138897639 and also my whatsapp line.

Nigerian youths, like many young people globally, often face societal pressures to equate success with wealth and material possessions. This can be influenced by various factors: Influences on Materialism Among Nigerian Youths 1. Social media: Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok showcase lifestyles of wealth and luxury, which can create unrealistic expectations and desires and cause youths to miss the priorities in life and then start idolizing money and people that have it within the society. This is more of a reason why we have so many wealthy youths but less sense and no content just obvious showcasing of money, drugs and cars all around and no value they are adding to the society which is one of the major dangers within our society leading to the influx of kidnapping, fraud, armed robbery amongst many other vices. 2. Pop Culture: Music, movies, and celebrities often glorify wealth and luxury items, making them symbols of success. 3. Peer Pressure: Seeing peers achieve material success can pressure others to pursue similar lifestyles. 4. Economic Challenges: High unemployment and underemployment rates may lead youths to believe that material wealth is a key measure of success and security. 5. Educational and Career Systems: Lack of opportunities and support can push youths towards seeking quick financial gains rather than long-term career goals. Consequences of Materialism 1. Mental Health Issues: Constant comparison and pressure to achieve material success can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression. 2. Ethical Compromises: Pursuing wealth at all costs can lead to unethical behaviors, including fraud and corruption which we can see all around us today. 3. Value System Shift: Overemphasis on material wealth can erode traditional values such as honesty, hard work, and community. Addressing the Issue Within the Society 1. Education: Incorporating financial literacy and ethics into the education system can help youths understand the value of money and the importance of earning it responsibly. 2. Role Models: Promoting successful individuals who prioritize integrity, hard work, and community service can provide positive examples. 3. Community Programs: Youth engagement programs that emphasize skill development, entrepreneurship, and personal growth can redirect focus from materialism. 4. Parental Guidance: Parents and guardians can play a crucial role in instilling values of hard work, contentment, and ethical behavior in their children. Looking deeply and close to how young people with billions within the society with no system in place to scrutinize them including the useless politicians that are only concerned about their own egocentric interests and leverage they have over the poor. Key Issues to Take Note of: 1. Lack of Accountability: There often seems to be a lack of mechanisms to scrutinize sudden wealth, leading to suspicions of illicit activities. 2. Political Corruption: Politicians prioritizing personal gain over public service exacerbate inequality and erode public trust. 3. Economic Disparities: The gap between the wealthy and the poor is widening, creating a sense of disenfranchisement among the less privileged. 4. Cultural Shifts: The glamorization of wealth without regard to its source can shift societal values, making unethical means of wealth acquisition seem acceptable including the so called religious institutions. Potential Solutions 1. Strengthening Institutions: Establish and empower independent bodies to scrutinize sources of wealth and ensure accountability without prejudice. 2. Promoting Transparency: Encourage transparency in political and financial sectors to build public trust and reduce corruption. 3. Public Awareness Campaigns: Educate the public about the importance of ethical wealth acquisition and the long-term benefits of integrity. 4. Youth Engagement: Create platforms for young people to engage in meaningful discussions about values, ethics, and the true meaning of success. 5. Legal Reforms: Implement and enforce laws that deter corruption and illicit financial activities. Promoting Positive Change Within the Community 1. Role Models: Highlight individuals who have achieved success through hard work, integrity, and ethical practices and not just anybody with money coming to social media and asking for acceptance from the people especially youths. 2. Community Involvement: Encourage community-based initiatives that focus on collective progress rather than individual wealth which will go a long way to fostering a healthy and better community with the right mentality needed to succeed the right way. 3. Civic Education: Incorporate civic education in schools to foster a sense of responsibility and community among young people. |

In Nigeria, as in many other parts of the world, social media brings both opportunities and challenges. Here are some of the dangers associated with social media, their effects, and potential solutions: Spread of Misinformation: One of the most significant dangers of social media is the rapid spread of false information. This can lead to confusion, panic, and even violence, especially in a country as diverse and populous as Nigeria. Effects: Misinformation can fuel rumors, stoke ethnic or religious tensions, and undermine trust in institutions. Possible Solutions: Encourage media literacy and critical thinking skills among the population. Social media platforms can also implement fact-checking mechanisms and algorithms to identify and label false information. Cyberbullying and Harassment: Social media provides a platform for cyberbullying, harassment, and online abuse, which can have severe psychological effects on victims. Effects: Victims of cyberbullying may experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and in extreme cases, even contemplate self-harm or suicide. Possible Solutions: Implement strict policies against cyberbullying and harassment on social media platforms. Encourage users to report abusive behavior, and provide support services for victims. Privacy Concerns: Social media platforms often collect and monetize user data, raising concerns about privacy violations and data breaches. Effects: Privacy breaches can lead to identity theft, financial fraud, and other forms of exploitation. Possible Solutions: Strengthen data protection laws and regulations. Social media users should be educated about privacy settings and encouraged to exercise caution when sharing personal information online. Addiction and Mental Health Issues: Excessive use of social media can lead to addiction and negatively impact mental health, particularly among young people. Effects: Social media addiction can lead to social isolation, sleep disturbances, and a decline in academic or occupational performance. Possible Solutions: Promote digital well-being and encourage balanced use of technology. Provide resources for mental health support and counseling, especially for vulnerable groups such as adolescents. Erosion of Traditional Values: Social media exposure can contribute to the erosion of traditional cultural values and norms, especially among younger generations. Effects: Rapid cultural change may lead to conflicts between generations and a loss of identity. Possible Solutions: Promote cultural education and heritage preservation efforts. Encourage dialogue between generations to bridge the gap and foster understanding. Addressing these dangers requires a multi-faceted approach involving collaboration between government agencies, social media companies, civil society organizations, educators, and the general public. It's essential to balance the benefits of social media connectivity with efforts to mitigate its negative impacts on society. |
Dear Community, I am reaching out to you in a desperate situation that has left me in a state of turmoil and uncertainty. Recently, I was involved in what seemed to be a legitimate business transaction, where I sold two iPhone 12 Pro Max devices to an individual who, unbeknownst to me, turned out to be a fraudster. Despite my best intentions and efforts, the person I dealt with disappeared without a trace, leaving me to face the consequences of their deceitful actions. I have taken all necessary steps to rectify this situation by reporting the incident to the authorities, including the police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. However, despite my cooperation and relentless pursuit of justice, I find myself in a precarious position where I am being held responsible for the financial loss incurred by the rightful owner of the money. The individual who was defrauded is now demanding restitution, threatening legal action and even my arrest if I fail to reimburse them the sum of 1.2 million naira, which is the amount they entrusted me with for the purchase of the iPhones. It is important to clarify that I did not benefit from this money personally; rather, I was duped by the fraudulent individual who vanished with it. I am now turning to you, my community, for support in raising the funds needed to fulfill my obligation to the rightful owner and avoid facing dire consequences that I do not deserve. Your generosity and compassion in this difficult time would mean the world to me and would help me regain my peace of mind and reputation. Please consider contributing whatever amount you can spare to help me rectify this unfortunate situation and restore faith in honest business dealings. Your kindness will not go unnoticed, and I am eternally grateful for any assistance you can provide. Thank you for your understanding and support. My account details below please: 0504050243,samuel, gtbank. Thank you very much, i'm grateful |

I'm a young corper in Abuja but trying to hustle for a better life by being an iphone vendor. So on 28th of December a friend of mine ordered for 2 iphone 12 pro max 128gb and he said he only has 570K for each phone and after a lot of up and down because i believe you can't get an iphone 12 pro max brand new for less than 630K-650K. I later agreed on the price cause I wanted to help and I also needed the business and I agreed 570k each which totals 1,140,000 and I received an alert of 1,160,000 in my Gtbank account (0504050243) and I sent back 15k to the owner cause he dashed me 5k from the 20K and paid for the phones for a supplier I saw online on instagram (wholesale.gadgets.store) and I negotiated with him he offered me the phone for 550k each because he said they were on Christmas sales which totals 1,100,000Million which was a good price and not because I was greedy cause I saw one that was offering a brand new 12 pro max for 450k which sounded too good to be true but this one knows his craft well he looks so legit with 50K + followers and walk in shop receipts and everything to make it look legit and followed through to confirm if they are scam and not and to my little knowledge they don't appear to be one so I sent the money to him. I told him I couldn't send everything cause it's a lot of money to me because that's the first time I'm handling such amount of money but I sent 1M to the company account that he claimed he gave me on Instagram but he later came up with something that is boss did not agree to send it that they were going to use GIG logistics and they won't interfere with with whether the customer has finished paying or not and sent him the balance Of 104,000 to the company account in sterling bank, account number 8513743738 and the name on the account is Wholesale Store Ng Company Ltd so I can get the phones delivered to the customer cause he gave me a deadline and even sent him the delivery fee which was #4000 from Edo state to Osun state during festive period because I went home to Osun state from Abuja and he assured me I was going to get the phones. Since 28th of December, 2023 I did not get anything he hardly responds to my messages and now he has blocked me on Instagram but if you check with another account you will see the Instagram account still very active and i'm sending this out not just to solicit for help but to help others from falling victim to him cause he is still out there and now that i'm in trouble of paying back my customer who does not want to listen to me at all cause he said he was dealing directly with me that whatever happens is none of his business. Have been trying to get justice and i have live evidence to back up my claim i went to the Police Station in Maitama nobody is ready to help me and even the EFCC office in Wuse 2 asking me to write a petition to them in which i sent a full mail with screenshots and evidences to back up my claim no one is ready to help which i believe they should be able to because the account i sent money is STERLING BANK in Nigeria which should be traceable and nobody is ready to help me. If anybody tells you the Justice system in Nigeria is Active the person is a big liar. i will attach pictures with evidence to back up my claim. Nigerians please assist me and please look out for wholesale.gadget.store on Instagram with 50K + followers a BIG SCAM[/b]
