A renowned farmer and South East Coordinator of Cassava Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria , Eze Philip Ajomuiwe, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to jettison but sustain the laudable policies and achievements of ex- President Goodluck Jonathan in agric sector. Ajomuiwe, who is also the Traditional Ruler of Oriendu Autonomous Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, said Jonathan’s administration made some commendable achievements in the sector which needed to be sustained by successive governments. He identified dry season farming, clean- up in the fertiliser distribution channel, cassava transformation, and agric loan as some of the key achievements of Jonathan in the sector. The monarch, who spoke exclusively with The Authority in Umuahia, argued that agriculture remains the only way Nigeria can overcome its economic challenges following the dwindling oil price. “Oil has failed us and if we must survive, we must not fail in agriculture”. The French-trained Farmer and Industrialist called on Buhari to..... http://www.authorityngr.com/2015/11/-Farmers-to-Buhari--Don-t-jettison-Jonathan-s-reforms-in-Agric/

Apparently still warming up to its new role as the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, is carrying on like an opposition platform, leaving the erstwhile ruling party, the People's Democratic Party, PDP, looking like the power still in charge of government, writes SAMUEL OGIDAN This question became imperative following accusations and counter-accusation in the nation's political clime, occasioned by the verbal war between the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). From the argument and issues raised by both parties, conclusion could be reached that PDP is still in charge of government, while APC is still playing the role of opposition. And not only that such conclusion be drawn, APC, from all indications, has not changed its tactics as a political party, but continued to follow its old line of action even when the party has been sworn-in to take charge of governance. In May 29, this year, the APC-led government was sworn-in to take over the leadership of the nation. Consequently, it would have been expected that the APC government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, would take charge and control the political direction of the nation. But the hand writing on the wall shows something different, as the actions and inactions of the APC portray the characteristic of a party that is still in the opposition. More than five months after it was sworn-in to take over the leadership position, the APC government is still blaming the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the woeful situation of the country. Even when the paraphernalia of the nation's institutions ............................... http://www.authorityngr.com/2015/11/When-ruling-party-sings-like-opposition/

Detecting whether or not your spouse is cheating on you is not a tea party. It is even worse when God is not engaged in your marital or pre-marital relationship. However, there are a number of behavioural switches that could call for suspicion. For instance, if your spouse was very committed to Christian activities before or at the early point of your marriage and suddenly lost interest in prayers, church programmes, bible reading or even church service, there is need to probe the cause. At the same time, if someone that hitherto hated late outings, now comes home at ungodly hours and is unperturbed, such behavioural switch too should not be dismissed with a wave of hands. A change in job, job schedule and business type, however, could cause the above switch. But if this is not the case, there is need to check if close friends and associates have changed. This is because evil communication corrupts good manners. In these days of secret terrorist groupings, knowing who and who is your spouse's friends and associates should no longer be taken for granted. This is because it is necessary to know, at all times, the thinking pattern, mental predicament and philosophical status of your life partner. The fact that your spouse was not the eat-out type initially but can now do without your food, calls for suspicion, especially when you raise eyebrows but he does not see any issue in such matter. Your spouse is a suspect of unfaithfulness if he or she suddenly and strangely becomes too secretive and too protective of his or her space. For instance,..... http://www.authorityngr.com/2015/10/-Signs-of-unfaithfulness-in-marriage--.html/

A mother of four, Yemisi Daramola, on Wednesday told an Ikorodu Customary Court in Lagos State that her husband was fond of handling his step-daughter's breasts whenever she was asleep. The 36- year- old fashion designer then prayed the court to dissolve her 15-year-old marriage to her husband, Babatunde, over the indecent act. The woman, who almost shed tears while narrating her ordeal in court, said that Babatunde used to 'touch' her 19-year-old daughter whom she bore for another man. "I caught my husband touching my daughter's breasts while she was asleep; he left me on the bed and went to meet my daughter on the mat to romance her. "After I caught him, I asked my daughter why she did not tell me, and she told me that my husband gave her money and warned her not to tell anyone. A Niger Delta group called Niger Delta Youth Congress (UDYC) has disassociated itself from the recently heated secession agitation and move by a socio-political organisation called Biafra. This was contained in a statement signed by the group's National Coordinator, Comr. Israel Uwejeyan in Abuja. Uwejeyan in the statement condemned the recent protest organised by Biafra agitators and supporters held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and described it as a planned distraction from the Niger Delta Region to portray the people and South-South region in bad light for championing the secession plans of some persons from the South-East region of the country. Uwejeyan said: "The good people and youths of the Niger delta region will not and never again tolerate our region to be used as a base or avenue for any politically calculated moves, aimed at frustrating and distracting the present administration through the deliberate cause of chaos as evident in the so called Biafra secession moves. "We the Niger delta youths.... http://www.authorityngr.com/2015/11/Biafra-Secession--Niger-Delta-Group-Disassociates-Self/

Senate President Bukola Saraki has arrived at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) where is trial for alleged false declaration of assets continues. He arrived in company of several Senators at 9:45am. Although, he came to the tribunal voluntarily, he had sought to stop his trial at the high court, but failed. On October 30, the appeal court also dismissed Saraki’s application to stop his trial at the CCT for lack of merit. Consequently, he appealed to the supreme court to set aside the judgment of the appeal court. The case is yet to come up for hearing at the apex court. This is his third appearance at the CCT. On his second appearance on October 21, the tribunal adjourned his trial on the grounds that there was a pending judgment at the court of appeal...... http://www.authorityngr.com/2015/11/Breaking--Senator-President-Arrives-Tribunal-With-Over-Half-Of-Senate-/

http://www.authorityngr.com/2015/11/NSC-May-Hire-Foreign-Coaches-For-Rio-Olympics/ The National Sports Commission (NSC) is considering hiring foreign coaches to prepare Team Nigeria for the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil. This is one of the plans by the National Sports Commission (NSC) towards achieving podium appearances at the games. The last time Nigeria won an Olympic Games medal was in 2008 when Uche Chukwumereije won a silver in Taekwondo. Yakmut disclosed that the Commission has swung into action to ensure that his target was met, adding that the NSC will ensure that Team Nigeria picks athletes and officials that are determine to achieve the set goal. The former national volleyball player also warned that only coaches that are determined and experienced would be handed the job of training the Olympics athletes for the Olympic Games. "My greatest concern now is to get Nigeria back on the podium at the Olympics. Honestly, we are putting in technical and financial resources to achieve our goals. We are expanding our frontiers of stakeholders to participate in it. We are going to make sure that all our coaches will be well tasted and they don't have to be Nigerians," he insisted. |

The agitated members of the communities sought to know if part of the large expanse of land donated to the army had been converted to grazing field by the herdsmen whereas the army authorities forbid the locals from farming on same land.
