I was discussing importance of stock taking and inventory counting with a friend sometime ago. When it comes to running a business with a large volume of products, raw materials, equipment or fixed assets, one thing business owners cannot afford to overlook is accurate inventory management. Unfortunately, some Nigerians, even big supermarkets lack this etiquette. I went to a supermarket in Lagos with my wife and the price on the shelf was almost half the price we were charged by the cashier. We felt cheated.

A company can be making impressive sales and still lose money through stock discrepancies, damaged goods, unrecorded movements, theft, poor warehouse controls, inaccurate records and outdated inventory information.

This is one reason I believe CUSH Consults deserves serious attention as one of the emerging professional stocktaking and inventory management companies in Nigeria.

Why Stocktaking Is More Important Than Many Businesses Realise

Stocktaking is more than simply counting items in a warehouse.

For businesses in manufacturing, FMCG, retail, wholesale, pharmaceutical, logistics, hospitality and other inventory-intensive industries, an accurate stock count can reveal what is actually available compared with what the records say should be available.

A proper physical stocktaking exercise can help identify:

Stock shortages and excesses

Inventory discrepancies

Damaged or obsolete items

Unrecorded stock movements

Warehouse control weaknesses

Inaccuracies between physical and system records

Fixed assets that are missing, misplaced or incorrectly recorded

This is where professional inventory managers and stock takers can make a significant difference.

I think Nigerians should do better. Get good stock takers and inventory Managers. I personally recommend cush Consults, you can search for them online or use any other reliable professional.
