TravelDelta Unveils New Cabin Interior Across Its Fleet by avdo69(op): 11:59am On Oct 18, 2024
New cabin design enhances customer experience and showcases the future of flying with Delta. Debuting on a narrowbody Boeing 757 aircraft that will begin flying on domestic and short haul international routes later this fall, followed by a widebody Airbus A350 in early 2025.

A new cabin interior is on the horizon at Delta. Debuting this fall ahead of Delta’s centennial anniversary, the modern new design will bring substantial improvements to the airline’s aircraft interiors. From fresh seating materials, enhanced lighting and a renewed color palette, to new decorative motifs and signature branding, every aspect of the cabin interior has been carefully planned and thoughtfully redesigned to elevate the travel experience.
“Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel,” said Mauricio Parise, Vice President – Customer Experience Design. “As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations.”

A PREMIUM DESIGN FOR ALL CABINS
The new cabin design features an interior uniquely and intentionally designed to make Delta customers feel at home during their travels. Breathable materials, comfortable memory-foam cushions on widebody jets, and lighting that promotes relaxation will span the fleet.
Each design feature was carefully thought out with a focus on the details that matter most to our customers. As always, Delta customers and employees are at the heart of everything we do; this nose-to-tail transformation of our cabin interior is based on extensive feedback and research to create a cabin experience that reflects our customers’ changing expectations and lifestyles.
Customers traveling in Delta Comfort+ or Main Cabin will enjoy seats made from engineered leather with updated colors and signature stitching and accent stripes. Customers traveling in Delta Comfort+ or Main Cabin on a widebody aircraft will be able to enjoy new memory foam cushions to enhance comfort.

The Delta One seat also features a headrest made from comfortable engineered leather.

Enhanced lighting programs have been intentionally designed to create a cohesive and calming onboard environment. With mood lighting designed to suit each phase of the flight, customers will feel well-grounded and better adjusted to their time zone.

“Every flight is different, so we’ve focused on creating warm, calming and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive as they wish,” said Parise. “For boarding, we’ve focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’ – warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open. At mealtimes, we queue hues that feel like you’re at a candlelit dinner – making meals more natural and inviting. As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow from the sunset and slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm amber tones which are reminiscent of a sunset glow. When it’s time to wake up, the cabin slowly brightens into morning and daylight.”

BRAND COLORS & DESIGN ELEMENTS
Delta is reimagining how it uses its brand colors by leaning into a softer, warmer and more modern color palette with natural materials such as wool and accents of Delta’s original heritage colors throughout. The design is fresh, clean and elegant and elevates key Delta brand elements.
Customers will feel more at home thanks to unique touches throughout the cabin, including thoughtful choices of materials at customer touchpoints as well as Delta widget logos and seat tags that create subtle distinctions between cabins.
New design motifs on bulkheads feature an evolution of the current onboard branding patterns. The Infinite Grid welcomes the customers onboard reminding them that no one better connects the world than Delta. The Celestial Sky pattern leverages elements of our global network while evoking the excitement and wonder of flying.
Branded cabin identifiers appear on all widebody aircraft in Delta One and Delta Premium Select. For aircraft that do not have a full-sized divider between cabins, an under-bin divider will be installed in the celestial sky pattern.

Lavatories will also be refreshed with bright walls and an accent wall opposite the mirror in the Celestial Sky pattern. Cabinets in the lavatories will be in a fresh and modern Azure Blue color. The flooring is made from a smooth material with specks of color, ensuring improved cleanliness and safe traction.

LAUNCH SCHEDULE
Delta’s new cabin design will first debut on a narrowbody Boeing 757 aircraft that will begin flying on domestic and short haul international routes later this fall. In early 2025, a widebody Airbus A350 will debut with the new design on long haul international routes. Additional aircraft will receive the new cabin design as Delta’s schedule and operation allows over the next few years.
Delta is committed to having its entire fleet look uniform and updated with this new design. Our goal is to create a singular experience across our diverse fleet, not just a unique subset. When customers step onboard, they will know what to expect and what to look forward to, regardless of the type of plane that their flight is operated on.

TAKING FLIGHT
“Delta has taken the time to develop every detail of our new interiors; the team was intentional in creating an experience that mimics our customers’ lifestyles and puts them at ease as soon as they board our aircraft,” concluded Parise. “We look forward to sharing our hard work with our customers and welcoming them onboard.”

TravelNigeria, Ghana To Start Enjoying Delta Free Wi-fi By December/ January 2025 by avdo69(op): 9:58am On Aug 13, 2024
Delta Air Lines is extending its industry-leading Wi-Fi service to international routes, with Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal among the regions set to benefit. Beginning this summer, customers on select Viasat-equipped long-haul international flights can enjoy fast, free Wi-Fi provided by T-Mobile. This initiative moves Delta closer to its goal of offering free Wi-Fi across its entire global fleet.

Currently, nearly 700 aircraft—over 90% of Delta’s domestic mainline fleet—are equipped with free, streaming-quality Wi-Fi. The airline expects most of its customers to have access to this service by the end of the year.

“As we continue to roll out fast, free Wi-Fi and the in-flight experiences it powers, we’re able to serve customers traveling both domestically and internationally in new, in-the-moment ways,” said Ranjan Goswami, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design at Delta. “The scale at which we’re bringing free Wi-Fi to customers is unmatched in the airline industry, and it’s a testament to the incredible efforts of Delta teams across the business that have expertly navigated an extremely complex rollout.”

What’s Next
To ensure Delta is delivering the premium service customers expect, the airline is rolling out fast, free Wi-Fi on Viasat-equipped widebody aircraft on a route-by-route basis. Additional routes will be phased in as high-quality, reliable service becomes available. This strategy mirrors the approach taken with domestic installations in 2022.

As free Wi-Fi rolls out internationally, the international Wi-Fi portal will not require a SkyMiles log-in initially. Later this year, all Viasat Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft will officially convert to the personalized Delta Sync Wi-Fi experience unlocked by customers’ SkyMiles memberships for exclusive onboard experiences and offers.

Timeline
Last month, Delta rolled out fast, free Wi-Fi on most flights to and from France (CDG and NCE) from all U.S. stations. The following is the anticipated rollout timeline:

August 2024: United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, and Italy
September 2024: Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland
October 2024: South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru), followed by Hawaii
December 2024/January 2025: Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal
Mid-Late 2025: Transpacific region (including Asia, Australia, New Zealand), and South Africa
Note: This timeline is subject to change based on testing and satellite availability.

Delta’s regional routes are expected to follow a similar process and come online into 2025, including those serviced by Boeing 717 aircraft.

TravelDelta Named World’s Most Admired Airline by avdo69(op): 3:04pm On Feb 02, 2023
Delta Air Lines recently celebrated 15 years of service between Nigeria and the U.S, lifting over 1.6 million customers since starting service to Lagos has been named the World’s Most Admired Airline by Fortune, with the company ranking No. 1 across the board in the industry for values including innovation and people management. Delta also rated higher than any other airline on the overall list of Most Admired Companies, climbing to No. 12 this year.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the Delta team on being named on Fortune’s list of Most Admired Companies for the 10th year in a row,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. “This award is a huge testament and a recognition of all their hard work, their dedication, and their success. It’s no surprise that they are consistently recognized among the best.”
In addition to Delta’s evolving brand experiences, the airline has been consistently recognized for its operational reliability – reflecting the airline’s operational complexity and the exemplary work of Delta people to achieve on-time performance while limiting the impact of disruption to its customers.
Fortune collaborated with Korn Ferry on this survey of corporate reputation. The survey began with a universe of about 1,500 candidates: the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue, along with non-U.S. companies in the Fortune Global 500 database that have revenues of $10 billion or more. That assortment was winnowed to the highest-revenue companies in each industry, a total of 645 in 27 countries. The top-rated companies were picked from that pool of 645; the executives who voted work at the companies in that group.
To determine the best-regarded companies in 52 industries, Korn Ferry asked executives, directors, and analysts to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent. A company’s score must rank in the top half of its industry survey to be listed.
To select the top 50 All-Stars, Korn Ferry asked 3,760 executives directors and securities analysts who had responded to the industry surveys to select the 10 companies they admired most. They chose from a list made up of the companies that ranked in the top 25% in last year’s surveys, plus those that finished in the top 20% of their industry. Anyone could vote for any company in any industry.

TravelDelta Continues Fleet Renewal With 30 Additional Airbus A321neos by avdo69(op): 9:48pm On Aug 25, 2021
Delta continues to refresh and upgrade its fleet, adding 30 incremental A321neo aircraft to its existing order book with Airbus. This transaction further positions the airline as a leader in the recovery, and beyond, with its cutting-edge, reliable and lower-emissions fleet, while reinforcing Delta’s strategic fleet objectives to boost operational simplification, achieve economies of scale and drive productivity.

“Adding these aircraft strengthens Delta’s commitment to replacing older fleets with more sustainable, fuel-efficient jets, and offers the best customer experience in the industry,” said Mahendra Nair, Delta’s S.V.P. – Fleet and TechOps Supply Chain. “Delta appreciates the extensive partnership with the Airbus team in support of our strategic growth plans, and we look forward to continuing to work together throughout the recovery and in the years ahead.”

The state-of-the-art A321neo is Delta’s most fuel-efficient large gauge narrowbody aircraft and is well-suited to complement Delta’s leading domestic network.

Delta is converting purchase rights for the aircraft into firm orders under its existing A321neo purchase agreement with Airbus. It follows a similar transaction in April when Delta and Airbus converted 25 A321neo purchase rights into firm orders and added 25 incremental A321neo options.

Delta operates 121 of the larger gauge A321ceo family, and with the incremental A321neos announced today has purchase commitments of 155 firm A321neo, in addition to six remaining A321ceo deliveries. Delta has purchase rights for an additional 70 A321neos. These purchase commitments look ahead to Delta’s future needs, supporting the replacement of older, less fuel-efficient narrowbody aircraft. In total, Delta now has 288 aircraft purchase commitments, including both widebody and narrowbody jets.

Delta expects to take delivery of its first A321neo in the first half of 2022, with deliveries of these aircraft continuing through 2027. Many of Delta’s A321neos will be delivered from the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama. The airline has taken delivery of 87 U.S.-manufactured Airbus aircraft since 2016.

“Our partners at Delta are underscoring the strategic role the A321neo will play as the highly efficient platform for Delta’s renowned customer service and reliability for many years into the future,” said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer.

The A321neo is powered by next-generation Pratt & Whitney PW1100G turbofan engines, which achieve 12% better fuel efficiency on a per-seat basis than the A321ceo aircraft. TravelFly Directly From Lagos To New York As Delta Increases Choice Of U.S Destination by avdo69(op): 4:03pm On Jul 14, 2021
Delta Air Lines returned its operations at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport to pre-pandemic levels with the resumption of its nonstop service between the capital and New York-JFK four times a week.

The flight from New York-JFK joins Delta’s existing daily service to Atlanta, which restarted last September following a short suspension due to the airport’s closure at the height of the pandemic. The choice of nonstop services to Delta’s largest hubs enable customers to connect onto flights to 130 destinations across the U.S. Within four hours of arrival in either Atlanta or New York. Delta flies Airbus A330-200 aircraft to Nigeria, which include Delta One business class, complete with fully flat-bed seats and aisle access for all, as well as Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.

“Delta is the longest-serving U.S. Airline in Nigeria and the country remains an important market for us,” said Bobby Bryan, Delta’s Commercial Director, Africa. “Facilitating trade, as well as providing valuable air links for families and friends to re-connect is key to our mission here in Nigeria and around the globe. Never has this been more important as the world recovers from the pandemic.”

The additional service from New York also provides cargo customers with increased capacity for the safe transportation of cargo from Nigeria. With short connection times in New York, cargo can be swiftly forwarded to destinations throughout the U.S. and beyond.

Delta’s flights to Lagos, which have been in operation since 2007, support the continued economic and trade ties between Nigeria and the U.S.. Data from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative shows that the value of U.S. goods and services trade with Nigeria totaled an estimated $10.4 billion in 2019 with exports valued at $5.3 billion and imports into the U.S. worth $5.1 billion. U.S. foreign direct investment in Nigeria (stock), meanwhile, was $5.5 billion in 2019, a 21.5% increase from 2018.

Customers traveling between Nigeria and the U.S. are encouraged to review entry requirements prior to travel. You can find details on the Delta Discover Map on delta.com or check the official government websites. Delta’s dedicated Travel Planning Center also contains detailed information for customers traveling internationally.

Delta prioritizes the health and safety of customers and employees above all. Layers of protection include regularly sanitizing high-touch surfaces and replacing onboard industrial-grade HEPA filters twice as often as recommended.

In addition to safer travel as part of the Delta CareStandard, all customers flying between the U.S. and Nigeria will enjoy hundreds of hours of in-flight entertainment options on personal seat-back screens, including titles from Nollywood. Delta’s award-winning customer experience also features touchless technology via the Fly Delta app.

Customers also have more flexibility than ever to plan and rebook their trips with an industry-leading travel credit extension for all tickets expiring in 2021 and all tickets purchased in 2021 through Dec. 31, 2022. For more information on Delta, please visit delta.com.

TravelTravel Leaders Assemble To Call For Re-opening Of Transatlantic Travel by avdo69(op): 11:22pm On Jun 07, 2021
The CEOs of all airlines that offer UK-US passenger services – American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic joined today with Heathrow Airport and other industry-leading CEOs in calling for the re-opening of transatlantic travel, a move that will be essential to igniting economic recovery.
Top leaders in aviation and travel came together ahead of the G7 meeting in Cornwall later this week to push for the reopening of the UK – US travel corridor. With world-leading vaccination programmes in both the UK and the US, there is a clear opportunity to safely open up travel between these two low-risk countries, enabling consumers on both sides of the Atlantic to reconnect with loved ones, re-establish business relationships and explore new destinations after more than a year of lockdowns and restrictions. The CEOs urged both governments to take a data-driven and risk-based approach to re-opening borders to travel.
A line-up of American Airlines CEO Doug Parker, British Airways CEO and Chairman Sean Doyle, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye, JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes, United CEO Scott Kirby, U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow and Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss joined forces at the panel event, hosted by Duncan Edwards, Chief Executive of BritishAmerican Business.
The participants spoke up after more than a year of travel restrictions that have deeply impacted the global economy and trade and tourism between the two countries. They discussed the merits of having the US on the UK’s ‘green list’, which means travellers from the US would no longer need to self-isolate on arrival in the UK, as well as the benefits that would arise from the US lifting the UK-related travel ban (the so-called 212(f) order) to open up the transatlantic corridor for UK residents to enter the US. The US is the UK’s largest trading partner and UK businesses are losing £23 million each day that transatlantic links remain closed. In 2019, 900,000 tonnes of cargo also travelled between the two countries.
In the US, 63.5 per cent of adults have received at least one dose, while about half of adults – 139 million people have been fully vaccinated. In the UK, almost 68 million have received shots – more than 75% of the country’s adult population. Studies show that the vaccine programmes in both countries are successfully reducing transmission and the severity of infection, plus fighting variants, and case counts in both countries continue to decline rapidly.
Shai Weiss, CEO, Virgin Atlantic commented: “There is no reason for the US to be absent from the UK ‘Green’ list. This overly cautious approach fails to reap the benefits of the successful vaccination programmes in both the UK and the US. While transatlantic links with the US are restricted, it’s costing the UK economy £23 million each day. We urge Prime Minister Johnson and President Biden to lead the way in opening the skies, making it a top priority at the G7 Summit. Customers, families and businesses need to book and travel with confidence. After 15 months of restrictions, the time to act is now.”
Sean Doyle, Chairman and CEO, British Airways said: “As President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Boris Johnson meet this week, they must address the transatlantic ban that is separating our two low-risk countries at a major cost to our citizens and economies. We urgently need them to look to the science and base their judgements on proper risk analysis, allowing us all to benefit from the protection offered by our successful vaccine rollouts. In the UK this means making the traffic light system fit for purpose, including a pathway to restriction-free travel for vaccinated travellers, and getting rid of complexity surrounding ‘amber list’ countries, eliminating quarantine and reducing the number of tests passengers are required to take.”
John Holland-Kaye, CEO, Heathrow said: “Connectivity between the UK and the US is one of the great engines of the global economy. The scientific data shows transatlantic travel and trade can be reopened safely and every day that policymakers delay puts jobs, livelihoods and the economic chances of hardworking folks across our countries at risk unnecessarily. We cannot continue to keep locked up indefinitely. Politicians should seize on the successful vaccination programmes in our two countries to begin looking to a future where we manage COVID rather than letting it manage us.”
"As we see people reclaiming their lives and reconnecting with loved ones, it’s clear that the infection rates of our countries indicate an extraordinarily low risk to travel between the US the UK, provided travellers are vaccinated or can produce a negative PCR test prior to boarding a flight,” said Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta Air Lines. “Our modelling studies conducted with Mayo Clinic put the risk of transmission on a plane travelling between the UK and US at 1 in 1 million.”
“We’re proud of the measures American and others have taken to navigate the pandemic and ensure we deliver a safe, healthy and enjoyable experience for customers as they return to travel,” said Doug Parker, Chairman and CEO of American Airlines. “Reopening travel between the US and UK is a critical next step in both the travel industry and the global economy’s recovery. With vaccine availability continuing to expand, we know that our business and leisure customers are increasingly eager to cross the Atlantic, and we know that when they do, it will provide a major boost to the economies in the US, UK and around the world. We look forward to continuing to work with both governments as they make this important decision.”
“Throughout the pandemic, experts have encouraged governments, businesses and the public to follow the science,” said United’s CEO, Scott Kirby. “United and other airlines have done just that and implemented the necessary safety protocols to confidently re-open key international routes like the air corridor between our two countries. Programs like the trials of COVID-free flights between Newark and Heathrow and the US Department of Defense air filtration study conducted onboard United aircraft not only contributed to the body of scientific knowledge, they have demonstrated the near non-existent rates of viral transmission aboard an aircraft. And now, through the mobile app, travellers can upload verified test results and vaccine records before international travel. All this with the successful leadership of vaccination efforts by both governments, no interests are served by delaying the re-opening of these essential air routes any longer. We are ready.”
“The surge in travel in recent weeks has been remarkable as case counts fall and vaccination rates rise and we’re confident that demand for travel between the US and the UK would follow a similar recovery pattern with an established travel corridor between the two countries,” said Robin Hayes, Chief Executive Officer, JetBlue. “As international destinations have opened to travellers across our Latin America and Caribbean network and travelling has been made easier with fewer border restrictions, we’ve seen a notable uptick in the number of people flying to these destinations. Data has shown that people can travel safely when certain health and safety protocols remain in place and we believe the UK should implement revised border restrictions similar to those that have already been successful in many other countries.”
A recent York Aviation report stated that a second ‘lost summer’ of international travel would result in £55.7bn in lost trade and £3.0bn in tourism GDP if reopening is delayed until September. If international travel remains restricted, it will cost the US economy $325 billion in total losses and 1.1 million jobs by the end of 2021, according to an analysis from the U.S. Travel Association.
“The millions of travel-supported US jobs lost to the pandemic cannot be replaced without the return of international visitors, and the UK is our No. 1 overseas travel market,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow. “Advancing a science-driven approach to restart international travel is crucial, and a US-UK corridor is a logical place to start because of the two countries’ excellent records on vaccinations and declining infections, as well as their strong relationship.”
The group has encouraged the US government to consider lifting entry requirements for UK travellers who have provided a negative COVID test ahead of arriving in the US or are fully vaccinated or can present proof of recovery.
On the UK side, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was asked to consider removing the need for travellers returning to the UK from ‘green list’ countries to complete an expensive and time-consuming PCR test on their arrival, instead of calling for lateral flow tests, used in care homes and schools, with only positive tests requiring a PCR test.
TravelDelta Gives Customers More Ways To Reclaim The Joy Of Travel by avdo69(op): 2:17pm On Mar 31, 2021
Delta customers can now look forward to industry-first loyalty rewards, digital tools that make it simple and seamless to satisfy travel requirements, more seats to more destinations, and new and classic onboard refreshment options.
Consumer confidence and demand for travel are growing as COVID-19 vaccinations accelerate, and Delta is welcoming customers back with new travel experiences – all while enhancing the Delta CareStandard health and safety commitment the airline has become known for during the pandemic.
Delta is launching new digital resources to make travel planning easier, including an interactive map that is searchable by price and destination type; offering SkyMiles Members the ability to earn up to 75 per cent more toward Medallion Status on most ticket types, including Award Travel, in a first for the industry; reintroducing onboard snacks and beverages; and extending the validity of all tickets expiring in 2021 – as well as all-new tickets purchased this year – through the end of 2022.
“Our customers have always been the voices that guide us at Delta, and that was amplified during the pandemic,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. “During the past year, we transformed our service to ensure their health, safety, convenience and comfort during their travels. Now, with vaccinations becoming more widespread and confidence in travel rising, we’re ready to help customers reclaim their lives.”
More available seats to choose from starting May 1
“While Delta’s decision to block middle seats has given many customers a reason to choose Delta over the past year, the signature hospitality of our employees and the experiences they deliver to customers every day have also deepened their trust in our airline,” said Bastian. “The relationships we’ve built, together with the knowledge that nearly 65 per cent of those who flew Delta in 2019 anticipate having at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by May 1, are what’s giving us the assurance to offer customers the ability to choose any seat on our aircraft, while also introducing new services, products and rewards to support the journey. We take great pride in the trust we’ve built with customers by listening and delivering on what they said was most important, and that is the approach you can continue to expect.”
Since Delta introduced its middle seat block in April 2020, consumer behaviour and vaccination rates have been the baseline for Delta’s decision to remove or extend the block throughout the pandemic. While scientific studies showed the risk of transmission onboard a full aircraft with everyone wearing a mask is nearly one in a million, Delta was the only airline to continue its middle seat block for an entire year to give customers peace of mind.
Masks will continue to be required and Delta’s industry-leading cleanliness standards will remain in place. Experts at Mayo Clinic and Emory, as well as our own Chief Health Officer Dr Henry Ting, are helping to guide our way back.
More digital planning power, less guesswork for ever-changing travel landscape
Customers can use a new interactive digital map to search by price or destination type – or use miles to discover somewhere new. This tool is at the centre of Delta’s streamlined digital Travel Planning Center, a one-stop guide to resources to manage travel restrictions, testing requirements and everything else along the journey as the carrier continues to add service to popular leisure destinations including Alaska, the Mountain West, beaches and abroad.

Delta is making each flight count for more. Starting April 1 through the end of 2021, customers can earn up to 75 per cent more toward Medallion Status on most ticket types, including Award Travel – a true industry first. These offers follow Delta’s pace-setting status extension program and ensure Medallion Members can continue to enjoy Status and benefits for flights now and in the future. Members also have more time to plan travel with select Consumer and Business Delta SkyMiles American Express Card benefits extended through June 30, 2022. For more ways to earn Status at home or on the go, Delta also continues to offer special opportunities to get closer to Status on Delta SkyMiles Platinum and Reserve American Express Cards.
More to enjoy with reimagined snacks and beverages, refreshed IFE content and more open Delta Sky Clubs
Snacks are back on April 14. After an exhaustive redesign process that included flight attendant feedback and tips from our partners at Mayo Clinic, onboard food and beverage service is taking the first step toward a safe return with classic favourites and new treats. In early June, customers flying in Delta One or First Class on select domestic coast-to-coast flights will see hot food options return, and First Class customers on other key U.S. routes will enjoy fresh boxed meals beginning in early July. Catch your favourite movies or shows while you sip and snack, and stop by more open Delta Sky Clubs once your feet hit the ground.

Delta is giving customers more time to plan and rebook a trip than any other U.S. airline with a travel credit extension that allows for unmatched flexibility. Tickets normally expire one year after purchase, but Delta is extending the validity of all tickets expiring in 2021, and all tickets purchased in 2021, to now expire Dec. 31, 2022. Additionally, to provide more protection for more tickets, Delta is extending its existing change fee waiver for all Basic Economy tickets purchased through April 30, 2021 – as well as all tickets that originate outside North America. Delta has already made lasting changes to help simplify travel into a seamless, stress-free experience, including permanently removing change fees for premium and Main Cabin tickets (for travel originating in North America).
Beginning last year, teams across Delta quickly and effectively established a new standard of cleanliness for the airline and our industry. Delta’s Global Cleanliness organization is one of the unique ways Delta continues to innovate on cleanliness as part of the layers of protection offered to customers. In recent months, the team has led efforts to develop a strict quality assurance program with input from partners at Mayo Clinic, Emory and Reckitt, the makers of Lysol; install onboard hand sanitiser stations and antimicrobial lavatory lighting; introduce contactless payment technology onboard to minimize touchpoints during the payment process; provision Lysol Disinfecting Wipes to clean customer-facing areas at airports and on aircraft; and work with TSA to ensure checkpoint cleanliness in airports nationwide.

Delta remains focused on delivering innovation in the air and on the ground, having been recognized as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies worldwide this year. Delta also recently announced plans to bring high-speed Wi-Fi onboard in 2021 – a key step in offering free Wi-Fi in the future – and launched a new digital identity test in Detroit aimed at providing a touchless curb-to-gate experience.

TravelDelta Resumes Lagos To Atlanta Service With Added Safety Measures by avdo69(op): 6:34pm On Sep 09, 2020
Delta Air Lines has resumed operations from Lagos to Atlanta. Starting today (September 9, 2020), the airline will fly four times a week with departures on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

“We know how important access to the United States is for our customers and now the restrictions have been lifted, we’re looking forward to re-starting our Lagos service to facilitate travel and business opportunities in Atlanta and beyond,” said Bobby Bryan, Delta’s Commercial Director – Africa . “Customers will have a different flying experience the next time they step onboard but this is to ensure the highest standards of safety for them and our people, which is our number one priority. We are also offering additional flexibility with tickets so customers have extra peace of mind should they need it.”

Flights between Lagos and Atlanta will temporarily make a brief stop in Dakar, with final administrative approvals for nonstop service expected shortly. Customers will not be able to board or disembark in Senegal. The flight will be operated using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft.

Last month, Delta announced that it will extend its middle seat block and limit the number of customers on board every flight until at least January 6, 2021. For customers traveling alone or with one other companion, middle seats will be blocked for safety. For parties of three or more, middle seats will appear as available for booking, to allow families and travel companions to select seats together.

Customers can also continue enjoying peace of mind in case their travel plans change. For all new flights purchased through December 31, 2020, travelers have the option to change their flight without a change fee for a year from the date of purchase. Changing an existing booking is easy via “My Trips” on delta.com or in the Fly Delta app. See delta.com for details.

As part of its COVID-19 health and safety measures, Delta requires employees and customers to wear a face mask or appropriate covering when travelling. Furthermore, the airline has introduced the Delta CareStandard its commitment to a superior level of cleanliness, more space and safer service designed to ensure customers can travel with confidence. As part of this, the airline has founded a Global Cleanliness Division dedicated to innovating and evolving its already-high cleanliness standards to ensure a consistently safe and sanitized experience across its facilities and aircraft for employees and customers, alike. Customers travelling between Nigeria and the United States will see these measures on their next flight. They include:
• Sanitizing the aircraft before every flight
• State-of-the-art air circulation systems with HEPA filters that extract more than 99.99% of fine particles in the air, including viruses and bacteria, on all trans-Atlantic flights (and mostly across Delta’s network).
• Boarding flights from back-to-front – reducing the instances of customers needing to pass by one another
• Temporarily streamlining onboard food and beverage service
• Providing supplies directly to customers when available, including hand sanitizers in wellness kits

Delta’s Lagos-Atlanta service will operate as follows:
Flight Departs Arrives Frequency
DL249 Lagos at 20:15 Atlanta at 05:30 (next day) Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
DL248 Atlanta at 22:25 Lagos at 17:05 (next day) Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
TravelFive Ways Delta Is Keeping Lavatories Safe And Clean For You by avdo69(op): 11:54am On Sep 01, 2020
Cleanliness across travel and particularly in airplane lavatories is of utmost importance, especially in the COVID-19 era, but Delta customers can rest easy.

“Over the past few months, our customer satisfaction scores have skyrocketed by double digits, including those for onboard lavatory cleanliness,” said Bill Lentsch, Chief Customer Experience Officer. “But that's not stopping us from going even further to make sure customers feel safe and comfortable when they travel with Delta.”

Here are five ways we are keeping lavatories – and the rest of your onboard experience – safe, clean and comfortable on every flight, with even more enhancements to come:

1. Hand sanitizer stations are coming to your flight soon: Delta will become the first U.S. airline* where customers can find hand sanitizer stations near the boarding door and bathrooms on every Delta aircraft. Now, you’ll truly never be more than a few feet away from hand sanitizer, with stations available from curb to claim.

Depending on the size of the aircraft and the number of customers, each Delta aircraft will have up to five hand sanitizer stations. Installations begin on Aug. 28 with the Boeing 757-200 fleet.

2. Flight attendants are wiping down high-touch surfaces in lavatories frequently during each flight:
While in the air, flight attendants regularly make sure lavatories are clean, tidy, fully stocked with supplies and ready for customers. Using kits that include disinfectant spray, wipes and gloves, flight attendants ensure the thorough sanitization completed prior to boarding stays fresh.

3. Look out for hands-free features already in many lavatories: Bathrooms on Delta’s A350s, A330-900neos, 767-400s and 757-200s already have some hands-free features such as touchless faucets, flush levers and waste lids. As we continue to look for more ways to reduce touch points, we’ll be exploring how we can bring touchless features forward throughout the travel experience.

4. Hand-washing reminders will be in each lavatory: Already installed on more than 130 planes, all aircraft bathrooms will soon feature hand-washing reminders.

5. We will continue to use electrostatic sprayers before every flight, every day: Every interior surface is thoroughly sanitized prior to boarding using electrostatic sprayers. Following this process, cleaning crews complete an extensive checklist of cleaning procedures using this same high-grade disinfectant to wipe down personal and common areas of the cabin – including lavatories. Our employees then perform spot checks throughout the aircraft and if it doesn’t meet their high standards before you board, our teams are encouraged to hold the flight to call back the cleaning crew.

TravelDelta Brings Back More Flights Across The Atlantic This Winter And Summer 2021 by avdo69(op): 1:43pm On Aug 26, 2020
As Delta works to restart service in line with the lifting of travel restrictions, potential vaccine availability and the gradual return of demand, customers will see more trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific flights to top business and leisure destinations for the winter 2020-2021 and summer 2021 seasons. While the airline expects pre-COVID level recovery for international flying to continue to lag U.S. domestic, Delta plans to add over 50 transoceanic flights next summer, compared to the summer 2020 schedule.
Delta will focus its strengths in its core markets and with the support of its partners, offer customers a wide array of onward connections.
“While significant hurdles remain in the global fight against the pandemic, we are ready to connect customers to the people, places, opportunities and experiences they’re longing for,” said Joe Esposito, S.V.P. – Network Planning. “Customers flying internationally can look forward to a modernized fleet featuring our latest cabin products and a travel experience that prioritizes their health and the health of our employees from check-in to baggage claim.”
As customers consider future travel, whether international or domestic, Delta’s multi-layered approach to their health and safety ensures peace of mind throughout the travel journey. These include, but are not limited to:
• Sanitizing all aircraft with electrostatic spraying before departure and extensive pre-flight disinfection of high-touch points throughout the aircraft interior.
• Using state-of-the-art air circulation systems with HEPA filters that extract more than 99.99% of particles, including viruses.
• Blocking all middle seats and limiting the number of customers per flight through Jan. 6, 2021.
• Requiring face masks throughout the airport, in Delta Sky Clubs and on board the aircraft
Delta’s partners have also introduced measures to ensure that customers enjoy a hassle-free, seamless and safe experience from start to finish, with regular updates posted on their websites as service returns.
Delta will operate the adjusted schedule with a more efficient, upgraded fleet of Airbus A350-900s, A330-900neos and refurbished Boeing 767s, following the retirement of its Boeing 777 aircraft by the end of October 2020.
Customers can also enjoy greater flexibility in case their plans change, as Delta has extended its change-fee waiver for new flights purchased through Sept. 30, 2020.
Delta’s schedule remains subject to change due to the evolving nature of COVID-19, customer demand, government travel regulations and federal health guidelines. Specific restart dates may vary for previously suspended routes due to travel restrictions and other operational requirements. Delta will make decisions about resuming additional service on other routes at a later date.

Trans-Atlantic Schedule
As travel restrictions lift and Delta begins to restore its global network, the airline plans to increase flying in the trans-Atlantic market from winter 2020-2021 to summer 2021.
Between September and October, Delta will resume service to several major business and leisure markets, including a buildup at its hub in New York-JFK.
Delta will resume Atlanta – Lagos*(LOS) – subject to Nigerian government approval for resumption of international flights operation.
In September Delta will resume:
• Boston – London-Heathrow (LHR)
• New York-JFK – Accra* (ACC)
• New York-JFK – Barcelona (BCN)
• New York-JFK – Madrid (MAD)
• New York-JFK – Rome (FCO)
In October, Delta will add:
• New York-JFK – Brussels (BRU)
• New York-JFK – Dublin (DUB
• New York-JFK – Frankfurt (FRA)
• New York-JFK – Zurich (ZRH)
• Seattle – Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
Service between Boston and Paris will return in November.
Following this resumption of service in the fall, Delta expects to maintain a similar schedule across the Atlantic through winter 2021.
Moving into next summer, Delta will expand its hub-to-hub flying between the U.S. and Europe, offering nonstop daily service to Amsterdam (AMS), Paris and London-Heathrow from Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, New York-JFK and Minneapolis. From Seattle and Salt Lake City, customers will have nonstop daily access to Amsterdam and Paris. Delta’s LAX hub will offer nonstop service to Paris. This expansion also marks a restart of trans-Atlantic service for L.A., Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.
Additionally, Delta will add back service to Paris from our focus cities Cincinnati (CVG) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU), as well as service to Amsterdam from Portland (PDX).
From AMS, CDG or LHR, customers will then have access to over 160 destinations throughout the region via partners Virgin Atlantic and Air France-KLM.
Delta remains committed to ensuring customers benefit from easy access across the pond through its key hubs in ATL, BOS and JFK. By next summer, customers traveling through JFK will have direct access to six more seasonal destinations popular with leisure travelers. Delta will also resume popular vacation spots from Atlanta, such as Barcelona, Dublin, Rome and Madrid. Service from Boston to Paris, London-Heathrow and Dublin will increase to daily.
TravelDelta Air Lines Accelerate Employee COVID-19 Testing by avdo69(op): 11:03am On Aug 20, 2020
Delta Air Lines is partnering with CVS Health to accelerate employee COVID-19 testing with a rapid-response option for flight crews, a move that will build confidence about traveling with Delta among our people and customers alike. The CVS Health Return Ready SM testing will be overseen by a CVS Health clinician at Delta hub crew lounges and takes fewer than 15 minutes to diagnose whether the active COVID-19 virus is detected.
“Just like there’s no single method to reducing the transmission of the virus, there’s no one solution to testing our global workforce that is always on the move,” said Joanne Smith, Delta’s Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. “That’s why we’re excited to be partnering with CVS Health and their clinicians to offer an additional convenient and reliable option to our people.”
The rapid-response nasal-swab test is the newest testing option Delta is providing employees so a baseline understanding of the infection can be established across Delta.
“It’s not feasible right now for everyone to take a test every time they walk out the door,” Smith said. “That’s why our baseline testing is so important, and we’re grateful to have partners who share our values and our vision to make testing easy and accessible to all Delta employees. We intend to use what we learn from this round of testing to make sure our re-testing program is one that continues to instill confidence among our people and with consumers about traveling with Delta.”
“Our relationship with Delta and their commitment to testing underscores Delta’s leadership in taking swift action in response to the pandemic, serving as a model for organizations with large, diverse and geographically dispersed workforces, and shows the important role that Return Ready COVID-19 testing can play in supporting continuity for the business community across many different industries,” said Troyen Brennan, M.D., M.P.H., Chief Medical Officer, CVS Health. “This is also another example of two values-based companies working together in innovative ways to keep people working while providing services people rely on.”

Health experts agree that a multi-layered approach that includes testing, regularly checking symptoms, wearing masks, distancing and personal hygiene are the greatest inhibitors to spreading COVID-19.
TravelDelta Air Lines Teams Up With RB, The Maker Of Lysol®, by avdo69(op): 3:08pm On Jul 28, 2020
Delta is partnering with RB, the makers of Lysol®, to drive greater confidence in travel by innovating cleaner more hygienic experiences for customers and employees, alike. The partnership will pair Delta’s strength in safety and operational rigor with Lysol’s 130 years of germ-kill expertise and innovation to continue improving upon Delta CareStandardSM protocols launched during the COVID-19 pandemic across Delta airport locations and on board our aircraft.
Keeping surfaces clean is one of the areas the Delta CareStandard focuses on, along with giving travelers more space, cleaner air and providing safety and personal care from check-in to baggage claim, and every point in between. Together, Delta’s newly established Global Cleanliness division and Lysol will strengthen current Delta CareStandard cleanliness efforts and create the gold standard across touchpoints through:
• Breakthrough Disinfection Innovation: Delta and Lysol will work together to gather insights on consumers’ travel experiences to help inform the development of new, innovative disinfecting solutions for both the airport and onboard experience. We will also work together to identify and address ongoing germ-related travel concerns for customers. One of the first areas of focus will be developing breakthrough airplane lavatory solutions to help kill germs and protect customers and crew.
• Disinfecting Protocols and Best Practices: Microbiologists and germ-kill experts from Lysol will coordinate with Delta Global Cleanliness team to develop protocols for disinfection that will help protect customers against illness-causing bacteria and viruses in high-traffic areas where customers are most concerned about germs including departure gates, aircraft lavatories and Delta Sky Clubs. Delta will also deploy Delta Care Carts including EPA-approved disinfection products recommended by Lysol, making it easier to disinfect large seating areas and countertops more frequently.
• Lysol Products: Lysol will provide products to Delta, including Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfecting Wipes, to be used with disinfecting protocols recommended by Lysol on high-touch germ hotspots across Delta areas from check-in to baggage claim.
The US Environmental Protection Agency recently approved both Lysol Disinfectant Spray and Lysol Disinfecting Wipes among the first to test effective against the novel coronavirus when used as directed on hard, non-porous surfaces.
“There’s no finish line for cleanliness – there’s always more we can do to innovate and elevate our already-high standards because that’s what our customers and employees expect and deserve,” said Bill Lentsch, Delta’s Chief Customer Experience Officer. “The experts at Lysol share our drive for innovative, continuous improvement – they’re the best at their craft. TravelMore Flights, Service Return In July As Delta Leads Safety Measures by avdo69(op): 9:35am On Jun 19, 2020
As economies reopen and border restrictions lift, Delta will add almost 1,000 flights system-wide in July, boosting service and nonstop connectivity to popular summer destinations and major business markets.
Customers travelling or considering travel this summer can feel confident in a safe experience throughout the journey, from check-in to baggage claim. Delta has implemented several measures to encourage extra space and provide peace of mind at the airport, as well as committed to capping cabin seating at 60 per cent in Main Cabin and 50 per cent in First Class and blocking middle seats through Sept. 30, 2020.
Pending a lift on border restrictions, Delta will resume service to customer favourite summer destinations – four-times-weekly service from New York-JFK to Lisbon and daily service from JFK to Athens. Delta is also expanding its focus on hub-to-hub flying to coastal markets by adding four-times-weekly service from Boston to Amsterdam and daily service from Seattle to Amsterdam. We will also restart Detroit to Paris-Charles De Gaulle service.
Connectivity within Africa will also expand, pending government approval, with the resumption of service from New York-JFK to Accra, as well as service from Atlanta to Lagos.
“Confidence in a safe travel experience is key to a successful recovery,” Joe Esposito, Senior Vice President – Network Planning said. “While we’re rebuilding our network at home and abroad, it’s even more critical that we provide the highest industry standard of safety, space and clean so when our customers are ready to travel, we’re ready for them”, he also added.
Customers also have the flexibility to change their plans without a fee for a year, for new flights purchased through June 30.
Even with the modest growth in demand, Delta’s July schedule will be approximately 70 percent smaller than the same time last year, including reductions of about 65 percent for U.S. domestic travel and nearly 75 percent for international.
As Delta looks ahead to the remainder of the summer travel season, the airline will stay focused on adding seat capacity, gradually rebuilding its footprint in local markets, and resuming high-demand service suspended due to travel restrictions.
Delta will continue to add more nonstop connectivity between top markets, with a focus on major hubs like Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Salt Lake City. For customers looking to vacation closer to home this summer, Delta is adding capacity to popular leisure markets like Florida and throughout the West Coast, as well as more transcontinental flying for business travelers.
While seating is capped to ensure more space between customers this summer, we will look for opportunities to up-size to a larger aircraft type or add more flying on routes with increasing customer demand.
With non-essential travel guidelines between the U.S. and Canada extended into July, Delta will continue to operate a limited schedule for those with critical travel needs. Minneapolis, Detroit and New York-JFK serve as Delta’s main gateways to destinations like Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Winnipeg. Delta will also continue service to Vancouver from Seattle.
Delta has also temporarily consolidated operations in some markets served by multiple airports, as well as suspended flying to select U.S. cities while customer traffic is significantly reduced.
TravelDelta Launches Unique Global Cleanliness Division To Drive Long-term Commitment by avdo69(op): 11:25am On Jun 12, 2020
Delta is establishing the airline’s first Global Cleanliness division, a new department within the Customer Experience organization dedicated to innovating and evolving our already-high cleanliness standards.
In the three months since the global pandemic dramatically impacted the world, teams across Delta quickly and effectively established a new standard of cleanliness for Delta and our industry. This latest move is a unique way for the global carrier to continue bringing a laser focus to cleanliness efforts as part of the layers of protection we are offering customers.
The cleanliness transformation that customers experience today it is the foundation upon which Delta’s future travel experience is being built for our customers to enjoy. Leading the organization is Mike Medeiros, vice president – Global Cleanliness.
“Mike has been a steadfast leader in our transformation and cleanliness focus to date, effectively working across teams to coordinate our massive efforts at scale,” said Bill Lentsch, Chief Customer Experience Officer. “This team will bring the same focus and rigour to cleanliness that we’re known for in transforming customer expectations for on-time, completion and baggage performance so that customers can feel confident when choosing to fly with us.”
The Global Cleanliness organization will further develop and execute Delta’s cleanliness standards, methods and quality management to ensure a consistently safe and sanitized experience across our facilities and aircraft for employees and customers, alike.
“Nothing is more important than the health and safety of our colleagues and our customers,” Medeiros added. “I’m looking forward to innovating our processes and elevating our standards so that every customer, every flight feels confident in their choice to fly with Delta.”
