RomanceRe: 19 Yrs Of Courtship, 13 Yrs Of Living As An Unofficial Couple With 3 Children by Avedonn: 5:50pm On Jun 20, 2025
If she's truly a muslim, those 3 children are illegitimate and they can't inherit anything from their father.
PoliticsRe: Minister, Head Of Service Plot To Illegally Extend Permanent Secretary’s Tenure by Avedonn: 5:39pm On Jun 16, 2025
Tenure elongation has become a common practice under the current administration. Therefore, appealing to the president to reject the extension of Aduda's service is an exercise in futility.
The president himself set the precedent for this illegality by unconstitutionally extending the tenure of the Inspector General of Police. Given this pattern, any expectation that he will act differently in Aduda's case is unrealistic.
PoliticsRe: Soludo Denies Inviting A Native Doctor To Predict His Re-Election Chances by Avedonn:
Governor Soludo hasn't done anything wrong, whether or not he consulted a native doctor. Traditional practice is part of our African heritage and will remain so for thousands of years. Therefore, people should stop demonizing traditional practitioners, as not all of them are evil.
TravelRe: An Aerial View Of Phase 1 Of The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway (Video) by Avedonn:
This coastal road project is unnecessary. The government should instead prioritize initiatives that stimulate sustainable economic growth. This includes creating a viable business environment to attract both foreign and domestic investment, while simultaneously empowering local businesses.

This would generate more meaningful employment opportunities, directly addressing the root causes of poverty and reducing the alarming crime rates fueled largely by joblessness and desperation.

The existing roadway linking Lagos to the South-South region already provides the necessary connectivity. Rather than embarking on a costly new project, the government should focus on efficiently rehabilitating and maintaining the existing road to ensure it remains safe and fully motorable.

This will represents a far more strategic allocation of public resources than the coastal road, which appears to be a misplaced priority.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Trent Alexander-Arnold Joins Real Madrid (pix) by Avedonn: 12:35pm On May 30, 2025
Real Madrid always takes the best players from other clubs. To me, that’s not fair. They use their financial power and prestige to lure top talent, leaving smaller teams at a disadvantage. While it’s part of the game, it feels unfair how they consistently benefit at the expense of others.
Foreign AffairsRe: US Withdraws From Formal Ukraine-Russia Peace Negotiation by Avedonn: 9:56pm On May 04, 2025
Trump acts as if he’s a superhuman, telling his supporters during the presidential campaign that he’ll end the war before his inauguration without realizing how complicated the conflict truly is.

Russia has no intention of ending the war because its ultimate goal is regime change in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky believes he can turn the tide against Russia with the support of the EU and the U.S., though this is practically impossible.

The only realistic way to end this war is for Zelensky to step down, and I’m sure Trump will soon advocate for exactly that.
PoliticsRe: Sen. Natasha Caught In A Lie? Leaked Clips Contradict Her Facebook Denial - Duru by Avedonn: 6:20am On May 03, 2025
To be honest, we're tired of Senator Natasha's story. We have more pressing issues to focus on. Let them handle it themselves. It doesn’t concern us.
Foreign AffairsRe: US Will Abandon Ukraine Peace Efforts ‘within Days’ If No Progress Made, Rubio W by Avedonn: 5:03pm On Apr 18, 2025
This is a needless war that Ukraine could have avoided. Now, many of its citizens have been killed, the country lies in ruins, and its economy is in shambles.

Ukraine can never defeat Russia in this conflict, a fact the U.S. understands, which explains its reluctance to fully support the war effort. It’s like expecting Chad or Benin Republic to defeat Nigeria in an open war which is impossible.
CultureRe: 10 Most Powerful Kings In Nigeria by Avedonn: 4:53pm On Apr 16, 2025
Ruke1991:
All those kings you mentioned are powerful in your eye because they are connected to your tribe or because you are limited in knowledge. Their level of influence is local to their domain. For a full list of high ranking kings to boost your knowledge beyond your local culture, look at the list below. These kings have influence over separately different domains

SOUTH SOUTH
1) Oba of Benin
2) The Orodje of Okpe
3) Asaba of Asaba
4) Olu of Itsekiri
4) Obong of Ibom
5) Amanyanaboh of Opobo
6) Obong of Calabar
7) Ovie of ughelli
cool Dein of agbor

SOUTH WEST
1) ooni of ife
2) Alafin of Oyo
3) Soun of Ogbomosho
4) Oba of Lagos
5) Ewi of Ado
6) Deji of Akure

SOUTH EAST
1) Obi of Onitsha

NORTH WEST
1) Emir of Sokoto
2) Aku okar of wukari
3) Emir of jalingo

NORTH CENTRAL

2) Ohinohyl of Ebiraland
3) Tor Tiv
4) Attah of Igala

NORTH WEST
1) Lamido Adamawa
2) Shehu of Borno
3) Mai Kanuri

Speak for your culture if you are not knowledgeable about more popular kings outside your culture. There is no such thing as one king being more superior to another simply because they are from a large ethnic group. That doesn't make them powerful
There's no title called "Mai of Kanuri." The correct title is Shehu of Borno. "
TravelRe: “I Escaped Nigeria After Endsars, But The Country Still Stresses Me”–Abroad Life by Avedonn: 4:41pm On Apr 13, 2025
He isn’t being entirely truthful. Deep down, I know he misses Nigeria. Yes, life here is challenging, but we still find ways to navigate those difficulties and live happily. Truly, there’s no place like home.
PoliticsRe: "Maga Dog": Senator Ndume, Bwala Continue Offensive Online by Avedonn: 4:23pm On Apr 12, 2025
Ndume is dignifying Bwala by engaging him in conversation. No one knows Bwala in Borno State; he is a nonentity.

As for Tinubu, I believe those around him are not informing him of the true state of affairs. Tinubu is extremely unpopular in the North. Even the few northerners in his administration would not dare to promote Tinubu to the masses in the region.

If you wish to gauge Tinubu’s popularity, visit TikTok and observe what the northern youths are saying about him.
EducationRe: Dr Akinwumi Adesina Presents 14th NOUN Convocation Lecture In Abuja(photos) by Avedonn: 10:25am On Apr 12, 2025
Akinwunmi Adesina has recently shown increasing interest in Nigerian affairs. Seems like he may be considering a move into politics after concluding his tenure at AfDB.

Individuals like him and Peter Obi could bring meaningful progress if given the opportunity to lead the nation.

I have been struggling to build a community of space and astronomy enthusiasts in Nigeria. Mehn, it's harddddd.
I am a passionate astronomy enthusiast especially in exoplanets like Proxima Centauri b, stellar phenomena like type 2 supernovae and their remnants magnetars, pulsars, planetary migration, the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, astrobiology, and stellar spectral classification.

Please if there is any active astronomy communities, I'd love join so that we can discuss such topics.

PoliticsRe: 2027: "I will prefer Another Southerner To Replace Tinubu" - Nasir El-Rufai by Avedonn: 10:20pm On Feb 24, 2025
DeepSightZ:
STOP LYING.

He said that in 2023 he was clear that a southerner should succeed PMB because that was what they had agreed from the beginning.

When the host asked him about 2027 based on the same logic (the host said then a Southerner should remain till 2031) - he said no its different, and he gave reasons - He said -

1. In 2023 he was a governor and had clout to pull support for certain principles but in 2027 he will be a private citizen
2. In 2023 he was working for APC but he is not sure of being in APC in 2027, and that was an APC agreement.
3. In 2027 he can say, well southerners have been given the chance and if they didnt perform then BAT should be voted out.

He was CLEAR.
Its either you are lying or you dont understand English
El-Rufai said no politician in his right sense would approach northerners to vote for Tinubu today. So, he was implying indirectly that Tinubu should be replaced.
PoliticsRe: Bauchi Chief Judge Raises Concern Over Rising Cases Of Witchcraft In Court by Avedonn: 8:24am On Feb 22, 2025
MadamExcellency:
It's a traditional religion. And one of the religions in our constitution. The persecution in court has to stop. If your "god" is too weak to counter the "god" of the traditionalists then your religion or Spirituality has to be reexamined.

Traditionalists are free to worship as they see fit provided the human sacrifice of any part of the body in parts or as a whole is 100% prohibited.
What he was saying is that it is against the constitution to bring such cases to a court of law. The constitution does not recognize the existence of witchcraft.
PoliticsRe: Bauchi Chief Judge Raises Concern Over Rising Cases Of Witchcraft In Court by Avedonn: 8:15am On Feb 22, 2025
I thought that, constitutionally, the law does not recognize the existence of witchcraft. It's strange for a chief judge to make such a statement.
PoliticsRe: Atiku, El-rufai Pay Condolence Visit To Edwin Clark's Family by Avedonn: 10:54pm On Feb 21, 2025
Nasir El-Rufai is determined to unseat Bola Tinubu. What many people fail to realize is that El-Rufai is a master strategist in politics, and his alliance with Atiku and Obi will create a formidable force. The 2027 elections are shaping up to be quite intriguing.
Christianity EtcRe: ‘I May Not Survive This’ – Pope Francis Tells Aides by Avedonn: 8:38pm On Feb 19, 2025
The political and religious influence the Catholic Church once held for many years has significantly declined in recent times. Today, most Europeans and Americans identify as atheists or agnostics. Even among those who still identify as Christians, many do so in name only, as they no longer actively practice the faith. The only regions where Catholicism maintains a strong presence are in Africa and South America.

Wishing the Pope a speedy recovery.
PoliticsRe: FG Orders Nigeria Police Force To Stop Parading Suspects by Avedonn: 8:22am On Feb 18, 2025
Misplaced priorities. Even in the United States, the mugshots of criminals are released to the public. Also, public parades of criminals could serve as a deterrent, discouraging misguided individuals from engaging in criminal activities. Therefore, I fully support the police policy of publicly parading criminals, and I hope the Federal Government will reintroduce public executions of criminals, as was done in the 1980s and 1990s.
PoliticsRe: Osun: Amotekun Clashes With Policemen Guarding Illegal Miners, Officers Injured by Avedonn: 1:53pm On Feb 13, 2025
I believe there is something fundamentally wrong with the entire police institution. I have observed that no matter how responsible or upright someone may be, they tend to develop questionable character traits as soon as they join the Nigerian Police Force. The most disturbing part is that when they retire, their lives often become pitiful.

PoliticsRe: Creation Of 31 New States: Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Arewa Speak by Avedonn:
Politicians are using this as a distraction to divert the public's attention from the current state of chaos the country is in.

This is how they have been employing the nonsensical Revenue Derivation Formula for months without taking any meaningful action. Just watch after this, they will introduce yet another diversion.
EducationRe: Best Universities In Nigeria, 2025 (Full List) by Avedonn: 7:03pm On Jan 21, 2025
tunjijones:
Why wld you count the whole north as a single region and count every region in the south separately?

Why do you people do this crap. Is it inferiority complex. Do you think you are inferior to the north?

It's still same you that wld come and say Niger state is bigger than the whole south east.
This rubbish has to stop.
Because the North is a homogeneous society, while the South is a heterogeneous society. Sixteen out of the nineteen northern states speak Hausa, a common language, while the southeastern part does not have a common language, except for English

EducationRe: Best Universities In Nigeria, 2025 (Full List) by Avedonn:
Southwest = 15 Universities:

South South = 12 Universities

North = 12 Universities

South East = 5 Universities.

I think the Federal Government needs to focus more on education in the southeastern part of the country. They seem to be educationally disadvantaged.
