Transxy:Your very first step is to write the DHA licensing exam (if you wish to practice in dubai) - DHA exam can be written in Ghana OR you sit for HAAD (if you wish to practice in Abu Dhabi). But before you commit your time and cash, try and search online for availability of demand for such positions. If you very much on the optimistic side, then write the exam and obtain eligibility letter and start job hunting either in Nigeria on in UAE (with 3 months visit visa) Goodluck. |
TammyAnybody:Hi Tammy, Justnsent you an email request via nairaland. KIndly reply, we need to talk. Thanks |
YelloweWest:To clarify further: Nigerians are not allowed to visit Qatar on either tourist or visit visa (except for a relative/spouse sponsored by a Nigerian working in Qatar). The only way to reside in Qatar is only through company sponsorship (You must be offered employment by a Qatar based company). Nigerians CAN work if the Nigerian government employs them at the embassy. No excuses. BTW: Indians also work at the Nigerian embassy in UAE. |
How far (in metres) is it from Reddington Schools? |
Please what is the footprint of this bungalow. Thanks in advance. |
A few points to note here 1. Optometry is recognized as a noble profession especially in the western hemisphere which can take up to 8 yrs to complete. (3-4 yrs Bachelors + 4yrs Optometry School). Pre-graduation for Optometrists theses are often considered Doctorate level. Most often than not, they bypass Masters degree and earn a PhD degree. 2. Dentists typically earn more salary than Optometrists in a hospital/clinical setting...but not by much really. Outside the west, Optometrists are not considered doctors...a myth... but they really are. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optometry 3. In Nigeria, and the Middle-East, Dentists earn more salary than Optometrists because they are considered doctors and Optometrists (not considered as docs.) Dentistry belong to the same association with Medical Doctors and will thus benefit from the political and lobbying power of the latter. For the record, the NMA approach the Optometry board to join, but were turned down for fear of suppression. Dental association agreed to join thus enjoying the largess that normally accrue to Medical doctors. 4. In a private clinic setting, Optometrists earn far more than Dentists due to the sheer volume and lucrativeness of eyecare. It is for this reason you often see optical retail chain behemoths in United States, Canada, Australia, U.K and the middle-east. The one my friend works in (Middle-East has about 100 branches and rakes in minimum N10b annually). Dentists will rely on occasional big-hitters which is often beyond the scope of most private dental practices (most surgical cases are treated in tertiary hospitals. 5. As far as course content is concerned, the Optometry curriculum closely mirrors that of their Medical Doctor counterparts. I won't dwell much on this here. A simple google search would suffice. 6. The failure rate within and outside Nigeria is huge. In Nigeria, you fail ONE clinical course, you repeat a YEAR! Fail two courses, you repeat TWO years...you get my drift. My brother currently earns about $4,931/month in the middle-east in a private setting. Tax free. A dentist (non-consultant) will earns between $5,480 - $7,670/month in the middle-east in private setups. Tax free. Closing thoughts: Optometrists earn a bit lower than Dentists overall albeit enjoying a "cleaner" work environment devoid of mouth odor, blood spills, and sundry discharges. Both Optometry and Dentistry are noble professions in their own right and the success of individuals in each profession depends on how you go about your career (Salary earner vs Private clinic entrepreneur). Hope this settles the unnecessary fight. Thank you. |
On the contrary, I will be absolutely ecstatic to see a state governor or any govt official parade their accomplishments using the state govt website or their personal websites (provided those personal websites were PERSONALLY funded). Sir, I have ZERO knowledge about State laws or policies...so if you can show me where it is written in State charters or laws or policies or constitutions where state govts are required to fund personal websites or projects of public servants...then I will hold my peace. Thank you. |
WHY did he change the logo of the website from lagos govt logo to a newly created logo after leaving office? While still in office, website title read: "the office of the governor of lagos state"...Now it reads "former governor of lagos state". He is NOT lagos state govt and never should have used his name to operate a state govt website. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong in owning a personal website BUT should only be funded out of pocket NOT using state funds. So his action was illegal and criminal. |
favoured234:Pls read carefully. Seems you didnt read my write up carefully. I never mentioned Nigerian doctors registered with west african college of surgeons. You MUST belong to a fellowship in a WESTERN country before you can work as a consultant here in the UAE irrespective of where you are from or where you did your first degree. Hope that clarifies the issue. Cheers. |
favoured234:I did not mention Nigerian doctors working in the middle east. For a Nigerian medical doctor to be accepted as a consultant in the middle east, he/she must be a fellowship member in a recognized society in a western country e.g Royal College of Surgeons etc...otherwise he will be accepted as a GP after passing the appropriate board exam with a minimum starting salary of $5500 tax free (in the UAE for example). Consultants like Ophthalmologists, Cardiothracic surgeons Neurosurgeons earn anywhere between $19k to $47k monthly if employed in a govt entity e.g Dubai or Abu Dhabi, Qatar etc. Of the middle eastern contries, Saudi pays slightly less and has the worst and most notorious labor contracts imaginable. I hope this helps. Cheers |
