The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board ( JAMB ) has disclosed that it will enforce a new rule before offering admission to candidates in the 2017/2018 academic session.
According to JAMB , the new rule is that institutions must provide the O’ level results and Advanced level results of all the candidates recommended for admission for verification by JAMB before such candidates can be offered admission .
This was disclosed by the JAMB Registrar on Tuesday in Abuja during the this year’ s meeting on admissions exercise/processes for Innovative Enterprise Institutions in Abuja on Tuesday, September 26.
”From this year now, we are demanding records of the O levels of the candidates you are admitting and that is for the first time . “When you recommend a person for admission we want to see what qualification he or she possesses not just you telling me that he or she scored 300 in UTME . What of the real qualification?” Oloyede said.
This means that what ever O’ level result or Advanced level result ( for Direct Entry candidates) you submitted to your school of choice during Post- UTME registration or screening will be verified by JAMB before admission will be offered to you . This is to ensure that only candidates with the right O’ level subject combination for their intended course of study will be admitted to study that course. So if you do not have credit passes in the required O’level subjects for your intended course of study , there will be no admission for you into that course.
The JAMB Boss equally emphasized that the JAMB will no longer regularise the admission of candidates admitted illegally in any institution .
He said: “Illegal admission in terms of people not even taking the unified tertiary matriculation examination , UTME at all not to talk of scoring zero . Illegal admission by even admitting people who do not have the requisite ordinary level ( O level) because before now JAMB does not have the record of their O level ( results) .”
The implication of this is that even if your school of choice admits you when JAMB has not approved your admission , that admission will not be officially recognized . You will definitely have issues in the future with such admision .
For instance , you will be unable to go for the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC) because only candidates whose admissions were approved by JAMB will be able to register for NYSC.
And don’ t forget that with the newly introduces Central Admission Processing System , it will be very easy to identify candidates whose admissions are illegal or whose admissions were not officially approved by JAMB .

2017/2018 SCREENING AND VALIDATION OF CREDENTIALS EXERCISE


Application for screening and validation of credentials is hereby requested from interested candidates who wrote the 2017/2018 UTME and made Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro their 1st Choice or are willing to change to Ilaro as their 1st Choice Institution.

(A) ELIGIBILITY

(i) Candidates who chose the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro as their 1st choice and whose score in the 2017 UTME is not below 150.

(ii) Candidates who did not choose the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro but are ready and able to effect change of Institution to make Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro their First Choice Institution.

(iii) Candidates belonging to the categories in (i) and (ii) above who complete the Screening Form online following the procedure in (D) below:

(B) METHOD OF APPLICATION

Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro candidates are required to complete the Institution’s Form on the Portal by navigating to the portal through: www.federalpolyilaro.edu.ng or www.federalpolytechnicilaro.net.

(C) PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING THE ONLINE SCREENING FORM

Candidates seeking admission for ND (Full Time) programmes are expected to generate a Screening Form Invoice by filling in their details on the institution’s portal by accessing the Portal through the institution’s website: www.federalpolyilaro.edu.ng or www.federalpolytechnicilaro.net

With the Screening invoice, candidates should obtain a CONFIRMATION ORDER NUMBER from any branch of the under-listed banks upon the payment of the screening fee.

Please note that the CONFIRMATION ORDER NUMBER must be obtained in the name of the applicant

(D) Instructions to Candidates

1. Log on to www.federalpolyilaro.edu.ng
2. Click on "Portal " on the main menu
3. On the Portal, click on the "Generate Invoice" button
4. To generate your invoice fill in your Name and other details (as you
have them on your credentials) and select your programme and Course of study.
4. Proceed to the bank with the invoice generated. Pay at the bank and
obtain a CONFIRMATION ORDER NUMBER
5. Return to the portal by repeating steps 1-2 above; on the portal click on the
"Fill Application form" button
6. Enter the CONFIRMATION ORDER NUMBER obtained from the bank
7. Complete the application form.
8. Scan and upload the following :
(i) a colour passport-size photograph of not more than 50kb in the space provided on the online form.
(ii) UTME notification of result slip
(iii) O’level Result(s) for candidates who are not awaiting their result.
(iv) All awaiting result candidates should indicate their year of Examination and Registration Number and put (AR) in the columns provided for this purpose. They should however upload their result when available.
9. Confirm and submit. Print a copy of the Acknowledgement Slip

N.B:
 Each applicant should use his/her own phone number and valid e-mail in filling the form in order to receive alerts, messages and directives. Do not use those of a cybercafe operator or any other third party.

 Awaiting Result Candidates are allowed to submit their credentials whenever they get it. Also, obtaining screening form is a continuous exercise.

 All uploaded documents must be clear and readable.

 Applicants should visit the website and portal home pages from time to time for announcements and necessary processes.
