Right now, some states atr still paying 18k as minimum wage and they are always owing salaries...they only rely on the federal monthly allocation to pay salaries and run the govt besides other infrastructure they need to put in place...where do you expect such state to have 62k to pay?
Or you expect the fed govt to base their decision on the payment capacity of Lagos and Edo...even Edo state is doing that to score political point not because they can really afford it. Only Lagos and probably the Oil producing States can afford that 62k...none of of the northern States can afford it.

That asa Ibale culture was so important, that if the aso funfun is not stained, the marriage is not consummated, and the so-called bride is disgraced and sent back to her parents.

Even Scripturally, the bride price was only paid for virgins. We see this in Exodus 22:17. That was why David paid a bride price for Michal in 1 Samuel 18:27, but did not pay a bride price for Abigail in 1 Samuel 25:42. Because Abigail was not a virgin.

Read it yourself in Isaiah 62:5:

"For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you."

As a matter of fact, if the woman is not a virgin, it is you that the parents should be paying a dowry, or at least give her away in marriage for free and pay the marriage cost.

Modernity should not make us lose our culture or turn us into people who have no value for our tradition or our women to the extent that being sexually loose is termed sophistication. Mba!
