Business › Re: Why Are We Not Making Money Like Dangote? by ayodeji1(m): 9:51am On Jun 01, 2011 |
dplordx: Was a graduate at the age of 23. Worked at a reputable bank and top profile construction company, and resigned to start my own business after coming into some capital and went into farming. Mind you, besides been a farmer, working on a 2nd degree, and I add a professional certs yearly. Last year, NIPR, and currently at NIMN. I started my farm with 2000 birds, 500 fingerlings and after a year of been starved of capital: need a pen besides existing land, and battery cages cost a fortune as well as van etc The products (eggs, chickens, fish, pork) has a shocking demand, and theres limitless market in this country for agricultural products, eggs, chickens, turkeys, snails, fish, etc Seriously, its been like hell when you cant even approach a bank for loans. Their beauricratic carousel alone is enough to kill your spirit but well man's gotta fight. Right now, I am operating with marginal profits, I cant expand because where on earth will the capital come from when UBA, and FCMB told me that the 50billion naira agricultural loan is for the types of Dangotes alone. They told me I must have an asset worth 300 million naira before they can give me a loan. Isnt that an insult! And you wonder who gave them this loan in the first place; if it wasnt our own lazy FG and I sometimes wonder if Lamido is actually aware of what youths are going through in this country. And talk about the bank of industry, those guys would rather pass loans to their housekeepers rather than people with vision and dreams. Ive become a professional loan seeker, and right now, its a job im thinking wont yeild anything in this country as long as your into agriculture or anything long term. Banks dont like risky business. They give loans to businesses they understand, and this is why Nigeria is still stuck in the past. Old toilet. New toilet. Same excreta Anyways, I am still stuck between deciding on leaving the business because of its high capital depedency. For a long time now, I keep making money and seeing it disappear on expenses, and keeping my workers and customers satisfied, and this is getting a little old for me now. There are several Nigerians who will make Dangote look like he needs to go back to school to relearn business if given the right capital. Its just a shame that wont happen. i feel u boss!im also into agriculture and facing same problem as u are.it can really be frustrating i must tell u.and to make matters worse, government isnt doing what they should to encourage it.but i know theres light at the end of every tunnel.and i have a natural likeness for it,so in the mean time i still like what i do by the side. |

globexl: Nija, especially Lagos is aflush with cars , new, tokumbo and used and for every budget. i just can't understand why anyone would travel to Cotonu with all the inherent risks to buy a car and then drive or smuggle it into to nija. How much can anyone possible save to warrant so much risks. If cars are so cheap, why wouldn't the smuglers use their own money to buy and smuggle the cars into nija and then sell and make their big profits? It seems so dumb. Thats my opinion. my response to this boss one,not all cars that comes in from cotonou are smuggled in.its ur choice to make if u want it smuggled in or cleared. two, buyers(cos i wont use the word smugglers when they are not)are doing that already.loads of cars parked in lagos comes in from cotonou, and loads of them from the lagos port as well. in all boss, the choice is yours to make.lots of people still prefer getting from cotonou.ive seen plenty return from there US trip to go to cotonou to get a ride.and if u ask them, they tell u they will do it over and over again if they need one. |

a welcome development though, but will it work?ive been hearing that a long time ago.also that there shouldnt be such thing as the agency fees, agreement stuff.fine, the govt can introduce such.but if the owner of the house refuses to accept, and u need the house badly, what will u do?run to the govt that the owner is asking for 2years upfront from u?what effort has the government itself made to make building a house easier for the masses?rather its the other way round.so me thinks the landlord has final say bout such.if u need it,u take it,if u dont,go somewhere else.shikennah! |
Car Talk › Re: How Are Nl Dealers Going To Deal With Sanusi's Cash Transaction Limit Policy? by ayodeji1(m): 11:27am On May 31, 2011 |
theres always a way out of every situation.the idea isnt bad and wouldve been welcomed by all if we have good, operating systems like the power sector and telecoms.cos basically, these two sectors can determine the success of failure of anything that has to work with technology.looking at it from another angle,it might possibly encourage government itself to step-up their game.cos the moment its put into implementation, the challenge to make it work will lead to more pressure from these two sectors not to fail.for intance, the introduction of atm/online banking is already improving the telecoms/internet service in nigeria.maybe not up to what we want but rome was not built in a day. |
It Should NOT be a Welcome development for Cotonou Dealers,
How Will Cotonou dealers Carry their Naira across Borders, I know Ecobank has branches in Benin Republic, But it would be Quite herculean As All Your Customers have to make Transfers First to Ecobank Nigeria, Then For Further transfer to Ecobank Benin
Na wa o.
why go through all that stress?with a coporate account u can withdraw up to 1.5million.thats still tangible enough to do something with in cotonou and continue futher transactions next day. |
