Borrow exactly what you need from opay for clearance and hostel fee, apply for nelfund once clearance is complete.

That should take care of your school fees. Immediately that is complete, start applying for scholarship, they are many for Medical students NNPC, Chelvon etc.

Short term funding: once you settle, start advertising your services with banners home lesson teacher, if you can get 2 paying 25k each. It's OK, just to survive your 100 level.

By 200 at least like 2 scholarship should have clicked for you. Enjoy.
Hello sir
Can fresh students also apply for nelfund?

Good day, Nairalanders.

I honestly don't know the best way to write this, but I decided to put my situation here because I need help, guidance, and hopefully someone who can point me in the right direction.

For a long time, I have been working towards one goal: studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan.

This wasn't something that happened overnight. I have spent months preparing, sacrificing, studying and pushing myself towards this opportunity. I have now made the required UI MBBS aggregate cutoff.

For me, that should have been the moment I could finally breathe and celebrate.

Instead, I am faced with a completely different problem:

How do I actually afford to start?

I don't have a sponsor. I don't have a family member waiting to take care of the financial burden. I currently don't have a stable source of income that can handle the expenses that come with starting medical school.

And that is honestly frightening.

It is difficult to work so hard to get an opportunity and then realize that money may be the thing standing between you and the opportunity you worked for.

I am not posting this with a sense of entitlement, and I am not expecting Nairalanders to simply hand me money.

What I am looking for is a way forward.

If you know of a scholarship, foundation, organization, medical education fund, philanthropist, alumni network, religious/community organization, legitimate sponsorship opportunity, or any other avenue that helps students in situations like mine, please point me towards it.

If there is someone who genuinely supports students pursuing Medicine and would be willing to consider sponsoring or assisting me, I would be incredibly grateful for the opportunity to speak with them.

I am also willing to work and contribute in whatever legitimate way I can. I don't want to be dependent on people forever. I simply need help crossing this particular financial barrier so that I can begin the journey.

If you cannot help financially, even information, advice, a useful contact, or pointing me towards an organization that may be able to help would mean a lot to me.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this.

I genuinely hope that somehow, somewhere, this post reaches the right person.
