Delayed marriage is gradually becoming a common phenomenon in Nigeria. Unlike in the past, it is now a common sight to find women of about 35 to 40 years sometimes still living with their nuclear families, waiting for marriage. The same relates to men who sometime stay between 40 and 45 years without even thinking of settling down for a family life. I have a really beautiful cousin who's 35 now. Graduate from Accounting some years ago. She revealed to me that the type of husband she is looking for must be somebody who is at least comfortable. ''He must be able to feed and clothe her properly as a wife, must be somebody with good accommodation and be able take proper care of her and their kids. This is because no woman wants to end up in a home where she will be suffering. So I asked myself this, Is she setting her standards too high? Has marriage changed from a union built on love to one built on mere comfort? If Not, What is really responsible for this trend? Mature Responses please |
