HealthRe: Difficulty In Getting Placements for Internship In Nigeria by azat:
Obinoscopy:
I have no beefs against the medics. I'm a pharmacist. I did internship myself.

However it's my love for my profession that made me insist that internship slots be made competitive. The beauty of a competitive atmosphere is that it brings out the best in people.

I'm totally in support of exams for intending internees. This will make each medical school ensure that they churn out qualified medical graduates that will not disgrace them when seeking internship offers or any other offer for that matter.
There should be no exam except, like in the present deformed system, for the purposes of selecting few from amongst many.

The sine qua non for internship is your degree. Nothing else.

Every medical graduate - doctor, pharmacist or scientist is qualifed in accordance to the Laws of Nigeria, as long as an accredited institution graduated you. Being qualified does not mean you are the best. It means you have met the minimum standards needed to practise safely, or to cope favorably in the next stage. It is not the internship exam that will prevent any potential "disgrace". It is like passing your 1st yr exams, and having to write anoda exams in order to proceed to 2nd year, so as not to disgrace yourself in 2nd yr. It is a duplication of process. It is unnecessary and exposes medical graduatea to unnecessary risks and expenses.

Your earlier post insunuating that medical graduates are lazily waiting on govts to give them jobs is misplaced, prejudiced, and shows your lack of understanding of the issue. You confuse internship with employment.

How much percentage of doctors do you think are employed by government? Very little.

Doctors hustle probably more than other graduates. Go to that private hospital in the most remote part of your state, a doctor is hustling there. That doctor you know of in the city is working at 3 hospitals to survive. 8am -2pm and rushes off for 2pm -8pm at anoda, in a messed up country without roads or a metro system. At night he sleeps in the 3rd hospital, without NEPA of course, and then he makes money just enough to earn a living, take care of families and get a house. Many doctors are unemployed, only working on locum basis where they make 2k to 4k per day, few days a week, few weeks a month. And tens of thousand doctors are produced annually. Unless you do not know, you'd think the world of doctors is so different from other professionals in Nigeria.

And you are so insensitive to suggest that they are lazy and all waiting on the stupid governments that do not know that they or anyone exist?

You do not know a lot about the lives of healthworkers, despite being a pharmacist. It's like me saying pharmacists are lazy and wait on govt to spoonfeed them with jobs, when I know how horrible life as a pharmacist has become in Nigeria.

This country is no country. Apart from only having a place to call ours (not that the Country truly belongs to the people), we do not have the benefits of a country. That is the summary, as always when cases like this are discussed. It is a failed state, as much as one would want to be optimistic, there seems to be no hope.

Now you see what I told you?

If you stay in Lagos, let Gazzuzz lay his trusted hands on your car, but be sure to appreciate him for job well done. He knows how to get the sensor. If you're elsewhere, you can order online and ship from aliexpress, ebay, or amazon, it will be delivered to you.
ok, thank you so much.

Will contact him.

Since you don't know the brand name installed before your ownership, I'll advice you go online and browse it.

By the way, what brand of honda is your car, and what is the engine model?
It's a 1999 Honda Acccord, 4 cyl, ULEV I-VTEC F23A4.

I have browsed Amazon and e-bay, and read many user reviews.

Denso 234-9025 matches my car year and model, engine type and cleared codes p1166 and p1167 in car owners with same engine and model.

Do you know where I may find this Denso 234-9025?

Thanks

lomomike:
A/F sensors are pre-cat sensors, or Upstream sensors. Meaning they are installed between the bolt on side and the catalytic converter on the header.
But O2 sensors are installed after the catalytic converter.

What it does it simply to use a heated element inside to run a test via an electric pulse up to 8amps to test the stream of exhaust gases before they get to the cat. This system is made to know the exact amount of waste gases (Carbon Monoxide) and un burnt fuel. It then signals the ECU to adjust the STFT and LTFT to either run rich or thin. This gives the whole emission system a SLEV or ULEV class to conform to strict California emission standards. This sensor is a wide-band sensor

An Oxygen Sensor only test to detect presence of unburnt fuel. If your car have only O2 sensor its a LEV class vehicle. This sensor is a narrow band sensor.

Both Oxygen sensor and A/F sensor looks alike and have 4 wires in your car but they're different to a trained or experienced eye.

Since you use a honda with AF sensor, check the rear window, you'll see ULEV pasted on it except its been tampered with. Your car is a California emission compliant vehicle.

Please pay close attention to the part numbers posted by Lomomike for the AF sensor. If not the disco light angry will remain illuminated. Gosh! I hate that light!
Your vehicle is ULEV designed to meet stricter California emission standards as such it uses a more expensive AF sensor compared to non-ULEV models. I do not know if you can find the new part here, you may need to look abroad.

Bro, no manufacturer is daft to label an AF sensor same as O2 sensor. Let the OP detatch the upper sensor and the lower sensor, snap their picture and also post their part number for all to see. If it is O2 sensors, the manufacturer won't say it is A/F sensors.

@ Azat, did the car have 4 of these sensor or 2 or only 1?

Did the sensor come before or after the catalytic converter?

Pls snap a picture.
In the whole of the service manual, only the sensor on the exhaust manifold that was labelled as A/F sensor. It is usually labelled as "A/F sensor/Primary heated O2 Sensor ", depending on the car engine type. It has 4 wires to it. It is precatalytic

lomomike:
Dear Azat, an A/F sensor also known as Heated Air Fuel ratio sensor is NOT same thing with an O2 sensor. I repeat. It is NOT same thing with O2 sensor. Although their work might be similar which is measuring Air Fuel stoichiometry, telling the ECU to run the engine rich or thing, the distinguishing factor between them is that while an O2 sensor just measures the fuel trim, the A(F sensor is a wide band sensor and it has a heater core to heat up the stream of waste gases out of the out-take pipes before the catalyst. This way, it ACCURATELY measure the fuel trim, then tells the ECU to run the engine either rich or thin so as to get the engine to its optimal operating temperature to get fuel efficiency.

You CANNOT swap an O2 sensor for an A/F sensor and vice versa.

Your AF sensor has a part number. Use that part number to purchase a new or a certified working used one. Besides, they might look similar, but they have some differences. Those sensors are very sensitive and over tightening them could damage them.
Thanks lomomike

P1166 in Honda accord means ''A/F sensor Heater circuit malfunction''.
AF sensor is the same thing as O2 sensor 1 whose primary function is fuel management .
P1166 may either refers to a faulty AF sensor or fault along the AF connector circuit to the PCM.
Check the AF connector circuit first before the AF sensor itself for fault.
Definitely ,malfunction of AF sensor will cause your car to run rich .
thank you. I have checked the wires, mo visible faults. So I can replace with the regular Honda oxygen sensors I was shown in the market?

Pls I have this code in my Honda Accord 1999, 4 cyl, Auto transmission, ULEV

Got this code after CEL came on while driving and it said it's air fuel ratio sensor malfunction.

Some people told me they are the same and so interchangeable, while some said they are not interchangeable.

I'm confused. My fuel economy is halved already.

Any experience/ideas/suggestionshuh

Pls Gazzuzz my car has been havin problem starting only when the engine is cold. When the engine is at normal temperature, car starts well.

My mechanics have changed many things like plugs, plug wires, and fuel point, service injector nozzles and cleaned fuel filter. The ECTS has been changed twice yet no solution.

Initially the codes were those of engine misfires, cylinder 1, 2 and random misfires. The CEL disappeared after one mechanic worked on the plug wires by using black cellotape to wrap round it. But the following morning the car would not start. Trying hard to start it by "firing" it hard brought back the CEL.

The last mech that tried to work it was the one that changed the fuel pump and the ects. After that, my car developed new symptoms of hesitation, high rev before changing gear, jerking while changin gears. I scanned again and got codes for ECTS fault, TPS and MAP sensors failure (dont have the codes offhand now). I changed the throttle body and the ects and those hesitation and gear symptoms disappeared.

This morning, the car would not start again. I had to "fire" it and hold it at 3000rpm or more till the engine warms before i drive off. The hotter the weather is, the more attempt the car makes to start.

My car is 1999 honda accord, I4, automatic gear.

Pls what could wrong with it? I'm frustrated, it has been 3 weeks since this started

Your logic is inadmissible!!!

That act doesn't even have a remote resemblance of sex. The male pènïs goes into a warm, moist ,dark world to be alive

Your urethral catheter is painful and horrid. Tell me, a pënîs that need a catheter to pass out urine can't even feel the glory of a váğina even if it were thrust in there and the owner of that "dead " penis is "dead".

Your weak logic only validate my stand: when a woman is in emergency or dire situation any doctor goes to save life. That's the most important.

If it were for normal routine check most women and husbands would prefer a female doctor examining their vâginâs if they are given the choice.

Now put it to rest
seriously the reason for your stance is perverted

FYI, vaginall exam is painful too for the female patients, nt what u thinkin

Oh, let's spice this thread up with a little bit of realism, that's going a step beyond professionalism.

A female nurse handling a male patient will at best/worse shave is pubic hairs off, clean him up and administer drugs/drip.

A male doctor handling a female patients can at best or worse handle her brëâst looking for lumps in detection of early brêäst cancer; insert his finger into her váginâ to examine her pelvis or whatever.

That is quasi-sex under the silly excuse of professionalism.

I repeat, some women find it uncomfortable a stranger having to poke around their váğinas and all.
These women have the right to know of oter options under normal circumstances that have no emergency conditions.
And a female nurse inserting or removing a urethral catheter from a peniis is quasi- what?

Like I implied, its all in your own mind.

There we go.
The physiology of male and female sex organs still have cardinal differences when it comes to tampering .
I think the reputation of nurses in Nigeria and elsewhere speaks against your point.
privacy is privacy. Each organs are unique and special to the opposite sex. How an opposite member views a particular sex organ depends on their orientation.

The topic is too sentimental to be discussed objectively. Unless you stay professional.

Where in my posts was it said or even implied that it is a daily affair every time a pregnant female visits her doctor?

Whether the doctor willingly, necessarily, reluctantly puts his hands there isn't the crux. It is morally unethical for him to do. The only instance where morality would be swept aside is under emergency to save her life.

Instances where a pregnant woman visits the hospital routinely fully okay in appearance, a female gynecologist should attend her simply.

And spare me the doctor pervert line.
I have experienced SO MANY instances where YOUNG male doctors unprofessionally brag about not only the numbers of female organs they have examined but also shapes and sizes.
The golden generation of professional doctors with sound ethics is slipping off. The majority of younger ones are mostly egocentric, forced by parents and peers into the medical profession. Most of them take the Hippocratic oat without the import.

My inlaw landed a hot slap on the face of a young doctor undergoing House-manship in Jos when she had to be stitched after child birth some years ago. Had he been a full doctor, it would have been a more serious matter.

My stand isn't complex, under emergency, her life comes first. Under routine observation and checkup, morality and decency take the front seat.
your arguement is invalid. Perhaps male patients should be attended only by male nurses and doctors, and female nurses should never shave the privates of male patients. What does ethics mean to u? Who establishes ethics?

Perversion is when the doc performs a vaginnal exam, the patient doesnt think foul, the doctor doesnt think foul, but the on-looker imagines how the doc is probably enjoyin d act or how the patient is probably enjoyin the act.
HealthRe: Doctors Putting Hands On Private Parts During Antenatal by azat: 12:03pm On Mar 23, 2015

My stand has always been except in cases of emergency I am opposed to male doctors tampering with the privacy of female patients. It is one of the unconscionable inclusiveness of the 21st century where sex and its related matter has become casual.

Majority of female patients who aren't in the state of natural Anastasia(unconsciousness under emergency) find it disturbing and repulsive a stranger inserting a finger into their privacy.

A distinction in medical degree is not a certificate of morality. Females by nature succumb to authority or instructions, or better still, to subculture of an environment or society, so even when they feel a slight need or compulsion to protest an express intrusion of their privacy by a male doctor whose only qualification to the theater of the dark and moist is a medical degree( I know getting it isn't easy but neither is it a prerequisite for gauging morality).

Except where HER LIFE IS IN DANGER OR IN EMERGENCY, such act should be avoided. It should be a last resort.
You sound like a pervert. You place youself in the doctors position and you imagine what u would be doing. Its apparent in your comments. So what if the lady doctor is a lesbian? If u answer the question correctly den you wud see why your line of thinkin is weird. What if the male doc is gay,or the female doc a lesbian, or the female patient a lesbian. I can assure most women do not think like u, only perverted males generally reason like that

My car is a 1999 Honda Accord, EX, I4. It was bought as toks via pre-order 18 months ago, and has never had any issue of note except this...

Maintenance history has been Change of plugs after 5 months of purchase, and change of oil every 3 months with Honda Genuine engine oil.

Now the car does not start when engine is cold. But runs perfectly if by any maneuver, it gets started and warms up. Then when cold again, it wont start.... Before then, for like 4 days, it would start when cold, vibrate for like 10sections and becomes smooth thereafter. All only when engine is cold.

Since the past 4 days, mechanics have dealt with me asking me to change all sorts of things from fuel pump, to "firing sensor", to starter. One "serviced the injector nozzles". The latest said it is "jumping timing".

I have not seen where to scan the car yet in Asaba.

Pls what most likely could be wrong?

NB: The CEL has been on since about 9 months ago, but car has been perfect anyway, retaining its excellent fuel economy. However, when the mech that checked and adjusted the "timing" the CEL disappeared, maybe cos the battery was also removed before then when the starter was 'changed' The CEL has not appeared again despite driving the car several kilometers yesternight.

This morning, it still couldnt start, and I had to cab to work. angry

Pls if anyone knows whr i can scan the car in asaba, I would be grateful.
