ENUGU – Tragedy struck at the weekend in Akpawfu village in Nkanu-East Local Government Area of Enugu state when Ndidi Ozoemena Nwankwo was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, Ozoemena Nwankwo at about 10.05PM of October 17.

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command has launched an investigation into the heinous crime describing the suspect as an alleged serial wife beater.

According to a statement released to newsmen by Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, he said:” Close family source informed the command that the suspect had been using his wife as punching bag.

“The suspects wife is four months pregnant. Due to the beating she got from the husband on that fateful day which inflicted injuries on her right leg and on her vital organs, she was rushed to hospital.

“She was unconscious at the nearby hospital were she was rush to and the doctors on duty confirmed her dead. The reason for the beating is yet-to-ascertained. The suspect, Ozemena Nwankwo has been nabbed and is helping Police with investigation.”

Meanwhile, the deceased corpse has been deposited at the Agbani General Hospital for autopsy.

Police Spokesperson however said that the matter will be charged to court once investigations is concluded urging members of the public to always avail security agencies of information that will nip crime in the bud to cub crime in the society.

Akon performs in giant bubble to avoid Ebola

In an effort to guard against contracting the Ebola Virus Disease, a United States-based R&B star, Akon, last Sunday climbed inside an airtight blow-up during a performance in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.

The singer rolled over the crowd, pushed along by the outstretched hands of 60,000 screaming concert-goers while performing at a concert.

The performance was part of a larger free concert held by charity, ‘Peace One Day,’ to help promote and support the United Nations’ International Day Of Peace.

Akon was, however, accused of going to extreme lengths to avoid catching Ebola during a concert in Africa by crowd-surfing inside a giant plastic bubble.

His action was criticised by a section of the media outlets, describing it as a cynical attempt to shield himself from the deadly virus that is sweeping West Africa rather than just being a creative way of performing closer to his fans.

Fear As Tinubu’s Health Worsens, Can’t Recognize Relatives

Close family relatives to the godfather of southwest politics have begun long prayers sessions and fasting over the deteriorating health of Alhaji Bola Tinubu  – who 247ureports.com was flown to a medical facility in London for treatment last week – following what many believe was a massive stroke.

According to a source who claims to be knowledgeable of the Tinubu family, the health of the All Progressive Congress [APC] may have been worsened by a recent discovery of cancer. DNA evidence shows brothers, who are severely
disabled and were teenagers when arrested in 1983, were wrongly convicted.
Two mentally impaired half-brothers have
been freed after serving three decades in a US prison
for the rape and murder of a child after DNA
evidence proved they were not guilty.
A judge in Robeson County said on Tuesday that
Henry Lee McCollum, 50, North Carolina state's
longest-serving death-row inmate, and Leon Brown,
46, were innocent of the 1983 rape and killing of 11-
year-old Sabrina Buie after the evidence came to light.
Both are severely intellectually disabled and were
teenagers at the time of their arrests in 1983.
Following false confessions, McCollum was given a
death sentence and Brown was serving life for the rape.
"This case highlights in a most dramatic manner the
importance of finding the truth," said Ann Kirby, Brown's lawyer.
"Today, truth has prevailed, but it comes 30 years too
late for Sabrina Buie and her family, and for Leon, Henry, and their families.
"Their sadness, grief, and loss will remain with them forever."
North Carolina state law now requires murder interrogations to be recorded or videotaped, but at
the time the brothers were convicted such laws were not in effect.
There were no recordings of the confessions, which
contained details that authorities now acknowledge were factually impossible.
