A very tricky situation cos some credential evaluators classify an LL.B as equivalent to a U.S. JD (advanced degree)
while others may classify it as just a bachelor’s degree...
But remember that your five years of professional experience can be equivalent to your advanced degree... In that way, it will cover for the advanced degree gap.
boundlessjoy:
Hi everyone, please I have a quick question. Does someone who has a law degree (LL.B) which is a JD equivalent qualify for EB2 as an advanced degree holder? Does a lawyer need a masters degree to show advanced degree?
Thank you.

Try NIV. You will get it with these background of yours. You will however need to supplement it one or more documents to make it stronger...
Ykolags:
Hello everyone,

I am about to begin my PR journey and would sincerely appreciate guidance from experienced members here.

I am 37 years old, single

B.Sc in Building Construction
Close to 5 years of total experience in the construction field
Over 1-year active internship
About 2 years of solid post-graduation experience (excluding NYSC)
NYSC at Lagos State Ministry of Works,
Registered my own construction company during NYSC (one-man business, handled projects independently)
Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering (completed in Poland). Currently partnering with a startup in the UK on waste management sustainability. (Freelance)
I currently work as a data centre technician here in Poland.
IELTS 7 (overall)

My concerns:
• I am currently living in Poland, my current job does not count as I don't have a degree in computer science
• My NYSC experience was at the Lagos state Ministry of Works — not sure if this counts for skill assessment.
• My self-employed experience has no payslips or tax documents. And I am outside Nigeria, not sure I can work that out
• My master’s in Environmental Engineering, not sure if my freelancing with this startup company in the uk counts

TravelRe: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by Babbyad: 11:30am On Feb 19
That you don't have citations doesn't rule you out. Citations are much focused on when it comes to EB-1. In EB-2NIW, you can even submit a white paper and you will get approval if your case is tabled well....

Pls, i want to apply for Eb2 NIW. But i don’t have citations and reviews in my publication. Can i submit any journal or is their a particular journal used for Eb2. Toxicity Caution in the Tradomedicinal Use of Bitter Leaf (Vernonia amygdalina): A Critical Review

Stage : Awaiting gallery proof

Journal: Asian Journal of Pathogen Research

Slots available: 5

Cost : $10/249INR/#15000

Abstract
Vernonia amygdalina (bitter leaf) is extensively utilized in traditional medicine across Africa for treating various ailments, yet emerging toxicological evidence raises significant safety concerns. This review synthesizes current research on the toxicity profile of bitter leaf extracts, examining acute, sub-chronic, and organ-specific toxicities. Analysis of toxicological studies reveals dose-dependent hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and hematological alterations, with extract concentrations above 400 mg/kg demonstrating adverse effects. While aqueous extracts generally exhibit lower toxicity (LD50 >5000 mg/kg) compared to organic solvent extracts, prolonged use induces significant biochemical and histopathological changes. Heavy metal contamination in plants from industrial areas presents additional risks. Despite demonstrated hepatoprotective effects at therapeutic doses, the narrow margin between beneficial and toxic doses necessitates standardization of preparation methods and dosing regimens. This review emphasizes the critical need for evidence-based guidelines to ensure safe tradomedicinal application while preserving the therapeutic benefits of this valuable medicinal plant.
Keywords: Vernonia amygdalina, bitter leaf, toxicity, traditional medicine, hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, safety profile, phytotoxicity, dose-response, medicinal plant safety

Once your Priority day becomes current in the Visa Bulletin, both of you are eligible at the same time. No separate waiting period for her. Sorry but I don't think there is anything you can do to make her processing faster.
Olaniyi55:
Yes, I understand what you meant and I know I need to wait for my I-140 approval. I am just asking as regards to her own case and what could be done. Any route to make her processing faster.
If my priority date is November 2024, does this apply to her as well?
TravelRe: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by Babbyad: 10:00am On Oct 28, 2025
Why not first wait till you get approval for your i-140 petition, cos obviously you can't bring her in with a student visa as it will conflict with what you have on ground.
Olaniyi55:
Hello Guys,
Please I need your suggestions related to my case. Although I am currently a student in the US and I filed my eb2-niw application last year and changed to premium recently while I was single. I got married 5 months ago and my wife is in Nigeria. I have tried every means to bring her in via student means but there hasn’t been means.
Please what would you suggest I do in this case since I am planning to add her when I am adjusting my status which is almost current.

Your suggestions for my family reunion will be helpful

The United States does not classify Hepatitis B as a communicable disease, so you can’t be denied a visa because of it.....

Hi,
Can one be denied visa due to having hepatitis B virus? I will appreciate an answer. Thanks.

Since it’s not Premium Processing, you’ll have to exercise patience.

What you don't know you don't know.
horlahsunbo225:
This is not true. I can see you've been advising a lot of people to blindly file EB1 and this kind of sub-optimal profiles are been rejected (or RFE) daily. The best approach is to file EB2 first to lock the priority date.
TravelRe: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by Babbyad: 11:33am On Aug 29, 2025
More info is needed but you are eligible for EB-1. Applying for EB-2NIW will be embarrassing to your CV.

Hello everyone,

I have a Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, 10 publications, over 30 citations, I review manuscripts for journals, I have over 5 conference attendance and presentations, a member of professional organizations in my field.

Do I qualify for EB1 or EB2?
TravelRe: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by Babbyad: 9:52am On Aug 26, 2025
Sometimes more than. Quite subjective to many factors.
lukzy005:
The estimated wait time for a green card to be granted after the I-140 petition is approved, for an applicant who submits an EB-2 NIW petition today without using premium processing, is generally 6 to 8 months for those adjusting status within the U.S.

Masters and 4 years of experience.... EB-2NIW.
tosho14:
Hello everyone,
I'm new to EB-1, EB-2 visas and trying to figure out which route I might qualify for, hoping for some guidance on the best pathway.
Quick background: Master's in Engineering, 4 years experience as a software engineer across multiple roles in fintech and healthtech, built a solo early-stage startup product in fintech/AI, and ran a 30-day state-sponsored tech teaching program in an underserved region that impacted nearly 100 people through workshops and group projects.
Can someone advise if this fits EB-2 (maybe NIW) or another category?
