Business / Re: Entrepreneurs And Use Of Social Media by Babylox(f): 3:01pm On Aug 13, 2013
Gaining??

This article would have been more relevant if it had been written early last year or 2011.
Social Media has been fully embraced in Nigeria talk less of other more developed countries.

Regarding its use as a marketing tool, we have people like Yeside Stores who's been using Facebook to market her brand for years as well as people like @ThotsOnTees, a custom tee shirt designer.

One of former my clients is a big brand company and I can't tell you the number of mails we received each day offering social media marketing services, mostly blogs and Twitter accounts. Email marketing still works like a dream but phone calls? A survey (small one though) revealed that people find calls from telemarketers very invasive.

Naija no dey carry last. Social Media Marketing has been fully embraced. The question is how soon people learn the PROPER use of social media tools and unlock the full potential of it all. cool
Politics / Re: FG Set To Use Social Media To Communicate With Nigerian Youth by Babylox(f): 2:33pm On Aug 13, 2013
At all o. First thing will be a Committee on Social Media and Internet Management championed by an unknown politician(female) in a hijab or a safari suit-wearing gramarian(male).

Yorubest:

So we expect a committee and a ministry of social media to be set up soon ...
Business / Re: Gtbank Mobile Money,A Hit Or A Miss by Babylox(f): 2:11pm On Aug 13, 2013
GT Mobile is only good for buying phone credit.
I don't go to vendors to buy credit anymore. I just leave about 5k in my wallet regularly.

I lost my ATM card and decided that this was a good enough time to try out their mobile banking ish. Unfortunately, I tried the Cash Out thing and to my dismay 5 days later I'm still waiting for them to refund my money to my account. I call them everyday and they tell me [size=14pt]STILL PENDING. WAIT ANOTHER 24 HOURS. I called an hour ago. Same thing.

I also tried the transfer to GTB account option. Apparently, if the person does not have mobile money app, it cannot send money to their GT account. SO WHAT'S THE POINT??

So if you find yourself in a bind and need cash pronto DO NOT DEPEND ON GT MOBILE. Unless it's for phone credit, then by all means carry go.
Webmasters / Re: Fellow Webmasters, How Do You Charge Clients For Social Media Management? by Babylox(f): 1:57pm On Aug 13, 2013
Oh I forgot to mention. Bill them for the first three months at a discount then monthly afterwards.
E.g 120,000 for the first three months and 50,000 for subsequent months. smiley

One thing you don't want to do is offer different prices to different clients. Small company, small money and big company, big money. Once they know you do this, you'll lose your credibility.

What you want to do first is create packages. These packages will include different services across different platforms.

E.g Bronze package = Facebook and Twitter Management. Management will involve posting relevant brand news & updates, engaging the fans and responding to comments and direct messages.

Silver Package = Will involve the same but include LinkedIn and Google Plus.

And so on so forth. You can bill for added services like graphic designs; avatar design, post graphics, etc as well as
For paid ads(Fb, Google) you should bill them exactly what it costs and charge a 10%(percentage is up to you) service fee.

Another thing you need to take into consideration is that handling an account with 10,000 fans is not the same as that of 500,000 fans. There's a lot more work involved and you may need to hire extra hands So you should include a clause that there's an extra charge of X amount for every X-thousand fans over a certain number of fans across platforms.

Another add-on is online PR. You can get popular bloggers to write about them or send articles to news websites and bill them the same way I explained online ad billing.

This is what I do anyway. Hope this helps. wink

Business / Re: My Bad Experience with Konga.com and Its Resolution by Babylox(f): 7:17pm On Jul 19, 2013
I saw the post was made since June 3rd abi July 3rd. Probably got resolved about then. All of you are riding a late train. The guy pro'ly deleted it cos he was getting to many "New Message on Thread" notifications. Lolz.
I shopped online for the first time last year. I paid on delivery.
Online shopping is new in this country. When online shopping started in other countries was it perfect? How can. You should see some other horror stories by peeps in China or UK.

Abeg tori don dey long. If you like shop online, if you like don't shop online. And to the guy that said he lost 400k online, I say to him ...boochit. Hahahahaha.

From your comment I can tell you pro'ly have not shopped online. In fact, you've spoken like someone still on salary mentality.

Their target market is probably young people and young ppl like to do star follow-follow. If Banky wear hat, Idumota hats go begin sell. If Tiwa Savage wears Dog hair weave on, what do you think will sell the next day? It's simple marketing 101.
I'm sure they might have wanted a bigger artiste but all dem DBanj mouth don tear. Na only Glo n dem that can afford them.

Most businesses fail within the first 3 years of business. DealDey has been around for more than two.

Wait small before you begin talk say them no get business brain. Nuff said. *No offense intended.
Sagamite: A bunch of ediotic entrepreneurs wannabes.

I don't know what value she would add to their business, the mugus just read that some firms engage in celebrity endorsement and the mumus too say "we must do the same".

The cretins have no business brain, this looks like a doomed venture in my view.

An entreprenuer that does not know how to manage and spend his money would most likely lose it.

There office is at Raymond Njoku. I've bought products AND services from them. No ish. My colleague got a late order once but that was just 2 days late. NOt sure you tried the proper channels.
Julieccentric: Dealdey ko Dealdey ni! Those silly people collected my money without giving me the item I paid for..Even after I put several calls through, sent mails and took out time from my busy schedule to visit their ever-locked up shop @ Shoprite Surulere.

Its really not a good way to start, I wouldn't even advice anybody to shop with them after the experience, as @ today I haven't gotten any call from them pertaining to the book I purchased.

They should work on ther logistics, customer-care officers before they bring one extinct artiste as ambassador.
TV/Movies / The Teju Babyface Show by Babylox(f): 2:12pm On Feb 14, 2011
Teju 'Babyface' Oyelakin has been nominated for the best presenter/comedian @ the Nigeria Int'l Entertainment Award. Winners will be announced today at the ceremony, Feb. 14th. This was probably in part due to the fact that the the content of his show and his various performance are family-friendly and do not rely on 'sex'-related topics to be funny. Follow him on Twitter @tejbabyfaceshow and like his Facebook fan page, www.facebook.com/tejubabyfaceshow for more details on whether he wins.
