BusinessSome Paying Hustles Your Retired Parents Can Do In Nigeria by Backlinker01(op): 10:02am On Jun 28
Retirement doesn't have to mean slowing down completely. Many Nigerian retirees are using their experience to earn extra income, remain active, and continue making meaningful contributions to society. If your parents are wondering what to do after retirement, these opportunities are worth considering.

1. Private Tutor

Retired teachers can earn good money by offering private lessons in subjects like Mathematics, English, and Science. With many parents seeking extra lessons for their children, tutoring remains a high-demand service. It is flexible, rewarding, and allows retirees to share their knowledge.

2. Freelance Writer or Editor

Parents with good writing skills can work from home creating articles, editing documents, or proofreading books. Many businesses and websites regularly hire freelance writers. It is a convenient way to earn income using years of professional experience.

3. Professional Consultant

Retired doctors, lawyers, engineers, accountants, and other professionals can work as consultants. Many companies still need experienced experts for short-term projects and advisory roles. Consulting provides flexible work while keeping retirees active in their profession.

4. Bookkeeper or Accountant

Experienced accountants can manage financial records for small businesses, churches, schools, and NGOs. The work is often part-time and can even be done remotely. It offers a steady income with flexible working hours.

5. Tax Consultant

Many individuals and businesses need help filing taxes correctly. Retired finance professionals can assist clients with tax preparation and compliance. This job becomes especially busy during tax filing periods.

6. Life Coach or Counselor

Years of life experience make many retirees excellent mentors. They can guide young professionals, couples, students, or families through coaching and counseling sessions. Churches and community organizations also welcome experienced counselors.

7. Career Advisor

Retired HR professionals, lecturers, and teachers can mentor job seekers and graduates. They can help with CV writing, interview preparation, and career planning. Their practical experience makes their advice highly valuable.

8. Actor

Nollywood regularly casts older people for roles such as parents, chiefs, grandparents, and elders. Retirees with confidence and good communication skills can enjoy acting while earning extra income. Even occasional appearances can be financially rewarding.

9. Realtor

Retired parents with strong networking skills can become real estate agents. They earn commissions by helping clients buy, sell, or rent properties. The job offers flexible hours and high earning potential.

10. Uber or Bolt Driver

Healthy retirees who enjoy driving can register with Uber or Bolt. They choose their own working hours and earn from transporting passengers. It is suitable for those who enjoy meeting new people.

SportsCountries That Must Win Their Next Match To Qualify For World Cup Round Of 32 by Backlinker01(op): 10:28am On Jun 24
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is heating up as we reach the final group matches. With 48 teams and 32 advancing (top 2 per group + best 8 third-placed teams), some nations are in do-or-die situations. These 14 teams must win their next match to keep any realistic hope of qualifying for the Round of 32.Here is the full numbered list with detailed scenarios:

1. Czechia (Group A)
Czechia has just one point and faces already-qualified Mexico in their final game. A win is mandatory to reach four points and stay in contention for second place or a strong third-placed ranking. They also need favourable results from the South Korea vs South Africa match. Anything less than three points will almost certainly end their campaign.

2. South Africa (Group A)
South Africa sits on one point and must beat South Korea in their decisive clash. Victory would give them four points and a realistic shot at advancing via second or best-third-placed scenarios. A draw or defeat would eliminate them from the expanded knockout stage. Their fate is tied to goal difference and other Group A results.

3. Bosnia and Herzegovina (Group B)
Bosnia and Herzegovina have one point and face fellow strugglers Qatar. A win is required to reach four points and challenge for second place or a competitive third-placed spot. A draw would likely be fatal for both teams in a group led by stronger European sides. Their attacking play must deliver maximum points here.

4. Qatar (Group B)
Qatar also has one point and meets Bosnia and Herzegovina in a direct showdown. Victory is essential to keep qualification hopes alive, either as runners-up or via the best third-placed teams. Defeat or even a draw would almost certainly send them home early. They must capitalise on home-region support in this must-win fixture.

5. Scotland (Group C)
Scotland has three points but faces powerhouse Brazil in their final match. A win would significantly boost their tally and goal difference, securing a likely second-place or high third-place finish. Without victory, their progression becomes dependent on unlikely combinations elsewhere. Scotland’s intensity will be crucial against the favourites.

6. Ecuador (Group E)
Ecuador sits on one point and takes on Germany. They need a win to reach four points and position themselves among the leading third-placed teams. A draw or loss would leave them vulnerable to elimination despite the format’s leniency. Their defensive resilience will be tested against a top European side.

7. Curaçao (Group E)
Curaçao has one point and must defeat Ivory Coast while hoping for an Ecuador slip-up. Victory could deliver second place or a viable third-placed berth in their debut tournament. Anything short of three points would end their historic run. Counter-attacking threat and organisation are key for the underdogs.

8. Sweden (Group F)
Sweden holds three points and faces Japan. A win would likely guarantee advancement, either directly or as one of the strongest third-placed teams. While a draw might suffice in some scenarios, victory provides the safest path forward. Their experience in high-stakes matches will be vital.

9. New Zealand (Group G)
New Zealand has one point and must beat Belgium to stay alive. Success would lift them to four points and give them a strong chance at second or best third place. Defeat would confirm elimination in a competitive group. The All Whites’ underdog mentality will be on full display.

10. Saudi Arabia (Group H)
Saudi Arabia has one point and faces Cape Verde. A win is virtually essential to reach four points and chase qualification. They need the three points plus favourable results from other matches to advance as second or third. Their giant-killing reputation could prove decisive here.

11. Senegal (Group I)
Senegal has zero points and meets Iraq in a must-win encounter. Victory with a healthy goal margin is required to keep third-place hopes alive in a tough group. A draw or loss would eliminate them immediately. Their attacking talent must shine in this final opportunity.

12. Iraq (Group I)
Iraq also has zero points and needs to defeat Senegal, ideally by a significant margin. A win would give them three points and a narrow path to the best third-placed ranking. Anything less ends their debut World Cup campaign. Goal difference will play a major role in their scenario.

13. DR Congo (Group K)
DR Congo has one point and must beat Uzbekistan to reach four points. A convincing victory would make them strong contenders for one of the eight third-placed advancement spots. A draw or loss would likely confirm elimination. Their recent momentum makes this a pivotal fixture.

14. Uzbekistan (Group K)
Uzbekistan has zero points and faces DR Congo. They need a win, preferably by a large margin to overcome goal-difference issues, to keep faint third-place hopes alive. Defeat would end their tournament. This debutants’ clash is a true do-or-die match.

SportsRe: I'm Looking For A Football Academy For My 7-year-old Son. by Backlinker01: 4:55pm On Jun 14
nairalanda1:
Even if he goes abroad, and gets into an academy at say Chelsea, or Arsenal or man city, the kid's chances of making it are very very low.

Less than one percent of all academy graduates in the UK alone make it to the big time. Less than one percent.

And before you say na foreigners...i was watching one documentary on youtube from 1974 that followed five promising boys at the Liverpool AFC academy. Back then the English league was 95% white English. Foreign players were either from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, with very very few from the commonwealth. I watched the documentary to see if I recognised any names there. No , all the boys never played for Liverpool at senior level, only one managed to get professional terms at another club, not a top club.

OP should make sure his son faces his work and gets a degree and use football as a hobby.
Come on man, if sports is the little boy's dream let him chase it.

it depends on oil prices. If global oil price rises the US companies increase production to high levels and make good money. However, if oil prices drops, they do not find it lucrative to drill excessively, hence they just import.
