Dreaded militant leader, Oyawerikumo Peregbakumo alias Karowei has been arrested by Nigerian soldiers after a state-wide manhunt.
Karowei was arrested on Thursday morning by Soldiers attached to "Operation Delta Safe". The criminal who hails from Ogbobagene, Burutu local government area of Delta state surrendered himself to the military.
On Wednesday, there was pandemonium in Bomadi, Ojobo and other communities in Delta State as soldiers blocked waterways in search of the militant.
People fled Ojobo community in hundreds after soldiers stormed the community in 10 gunboats. According to an eyewitness, Soldiers arrested Karowei's girlfriend. The eyewitness said;
"The manhunt is a fallout of reports of alleged activities of some suspected militants who had some celebrations in the community on New Year day over the killing of security agents."
Karowei is alleged to have beheaded a Naval officer, who was at the local government for a peace mission last December.
Below is a photo of the militants after his arrest;
meethumb: Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Abia State governor has said that Fulani herders are not responsible for the recent killings in parts of the country.
According to him, prominent Nigerians who are against the anti-corruption war of the Federal Government are the major sponsors of the alleged killer herdsmen.
Kalu who stated this while sympathizing with the victims and families of those who were killed in Taraba and Benue States, said perpetrators were mostly returnees from Niger Republic who infiltrated the people and pretended to be Fulani herders.
He said these killer herders were mostly sponsored by politicians who were aggrieved because the President blocked the various channels by which the country’s resources were being siphoned.
Kalu said when he was the governor of Abia State, he was never in good terms with some rich individuals who were busy milking the state.
He added there was trouble around the country now because President Muhammadu Buhari had ended the old ways of handling the nation’s resources.
Kalu spoke in his country home, Igbere, during the launch of free interest loan to Abians in Abia North Senatorial District.
HeWrites: The pregnant woman who was beaten by Delta state police officers alongside her friends, dancer Jane and Jane's younger sister, has lost the pregnancy which was reportedly a multiple pregnancy.
According to rapper Rugged Man, he got an update from Jane saying that the woman had a miscarriage following the attack. The rapper went on to share photos allegedly showing the faces of the officers who attacked the women.
One of them is a male police officer while the other is a female police officer who wasn't dressed in uniform.
According to Jane, her friend was pregnant with quadruplets and they discovered this when she was taken to the hospital following the attack.
Dr. Frederick Fasehun, President of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the $1 billion security loan the government is canvassing for would be employed in fighting killer Fulani herdsmen.
He also asked the President to relinquish the Petroleum Ministry, as well as unbundle the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and hand the resultant establishments over to three professional ministers.
Speaking in Lagos at a Press Conference, themed “STATE OF THE NATION 2018,” the OPC Founder said the first duty of government was to provide security, a task he said President Buhari had woefully failed to discharge, especially in relation to killings by Fulani herdsmen and Fulani militia in what, it said, appeared to be a case of organised ethnic cleansing against Northern Minorities and other Nigerian tribes.
Fasehun, who was flanked by OPC’s Deputy President, Otunba Wasiu Afolabi, and its National Coordinator, Alhaji Mudashiru Adeniji, said: “In the wake of this ugly genocides came the shameless and insensitive pronouncement by the government’s spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, on no less a medium than the BBC, that the Fulani herdsmen were a lesser threat than the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. It was an uncanny statement. For the government to have this unperturbed attitude to Fulani herdsmen, internationally reputed as the fourth deadliest terrorist organisation in the world, amounts tyo ignoring a dangerous viper on the bed. Ranking after Boko Haram, ISIL and El-Shabaab on the Global Terrorism Index, armed Fulani militias today constitute the real threat to national unity, with their rapacious evil campaigns throughout the length and breadth of this country.”
As far as OPC was concerned, clearly, the pastoral nomadic lifestyle of the Fulani herdsmen was no longer fashionable and sustainable, and they should be compelled to embrace modern ranching as obtained worldwide.
According to him, the killings persisted and perpetrators were emboldened by the fact that no single Fulani killer had been hanged for murder.
OPC issued a warning.
“This cannot continue. Killers must be brought to book and made to feel the full weight of the law. Nobody has a monopoly of violence; and in the face of threats to their very survival, people will eventually resort to self-help, a move that can tear this country apart and turn Nigeria into a free-for-all killing field. The military and other security forces must tackle the menace of Fulani militias by declaring a security emergency, disarming Fulani herdsmen and bringing Fulani killers to justice,” the group said.
Fasehun lamented that the government had also failed on the economic front.
In his words: “The economy is in shambles, infrastructure dilapidated, insecurity widespread, workers’ salaries are unpredictable and corruption has new merchants among the President’s henchmen.”
He accused Buhari of failing in his campaign promise to stop importation of petroleum products, revamp the refineries and reduce the pump price of petrol, and urged him to learn from President Goodluck Jonathan who appointed a substantive Minister of Petroleum.
“Nigerians are tired of the ongoing blame game between government and oil marketers. All Nigerians want is FUEL! An oil-rich nation like Nigeria, owning four national refineries, has no business importing fuel! Buhari has failed as Minister of Petroleum; he simply lacks the health, the capacity and the creativity to manage Nigeria’s biggest revenue resource. Buhari should relinquish the mantle of Minister of Petroleum to a competent and experienced petroleum industrialist whose sole mandate will be to get the refineries operating at full capacity and ensure local production for domestic consumption within three to six months,” Fasehun said.
OPC demanded the political restructuring of the country, pointing out that, the United Kingdom, Nigeria’s former colonialist had restructured to the point of substantial granting autonomy to Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
The group said: “As currently constituted, Nigeria needs to be restructured. The current system is not only robbing Peter to pay Paul, it has encouraged audaciousness, ingratitude and indolence on the part of Paul. It is a monkey-dey-work-baboon-dey-chop arrangement that cannot survive. Right now, Nigeria’s Centre is too powerful. The country should return to the pre-military 1963 arrangement agreed by our nation’s founding fathers with autonomy and devolution of power to the regions and the states.”

In a leaked audio clip, Professor Abubakar said he would rather return to Bayero University, Kano (BUK) where he belonged after the expiration of their tenure on May 29, 2019.
When contacted, the deputy governor’s spokesperson, Alhaji Usman Bello confirmed that the audio clip that went viral on social and conventional media emanated from his principal.
He said, “Prof. Hafiz made the statement at Mambayya House while addressing his supporters from Gwale Local Government.
“Prof. was explaining the situation he found himself politically; Yes, it is his voice. However, my boss has no any problem with Ganduje. He is enjoying all respect in terms of governance from the governor.
“Prof. has testified this today at a function held at School of Nursing that there is mutual understanding between him and the governor. The problem he is facing is with the APC at his local government and in fact his ward Mandawari,” the spokesman said.
The deputy governor in the clip said he would rather align himself with his former boss, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, than support Ganduje in the next general elections.
He said, “I was picked by Kwankwaso to be running mate to Ganduje in the last general elections. My wish is to return to BUK by the end of our tenure in 2019 and continue with my career.”
Professor Abubakar was responding to the ongoing party restructuring exercise which led to the removal of the APC chairman in his Mandawari Ward in Gwale Local Government Area of the state without his consent.
He recalled that during the 2015 general elections campaigns, his picture was put side by side with that of the incumbent governor, as well as that of President Muhammadu Buhari and Sen. Kwankwaso.
“But today, my picture was replaced with somebody even at my birthplace,” he said.
“What have I done to my birthplace? What have I done to my birthplace? What have I done to warrant all these?” he queried

computerwiz2: Police on Monday morning attacked protesters on a peaceful protest against the Rochas Okorocha government in Imo State.
The protest, tagged ‘Occupy Owerri’, which is expected to last for one week, was called by Imo People’s Action for Democracy, IPAD, against the policies of the Governor Okorocha administration.
Chief among the grouse of the protesters is the erection of statues in Owerri, the state capital, costing millions of naira, when the state is still owing workers salaries and pensions.
They are also opposed to the appointment of the governor’s sister as Commissioner for Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment.
The group had written to the police and the State Security Service for security during the rally. While the SSS gave approval for the rally to hold, the police asked that the rally be shifted till after the yuletide period.
But the group refused, arguing that the police have no right to stop it from protesting.
Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES on Monday, the coordinator of the group, Aku Obidinma, said police fired tear gas at the protesters, beat them up and also confiscated their placards as they began the peaceful protest.
He said they won’t be deterred by the actions of the police.
