27 July - 23 Aug is 28 days. The mistake is from them.

I put money in my account on the 13th of July, printed on the 9th of August and submitted.

The money was IN your account for 28 days and nights. They made a mistake.

I got my visa. Paid for priority too.

File for an administrative review.

obeauty21:
I went to pick up my visa today ...... I was denied visa. I checked the reason for refusal and it came from the disparity in the dates. I started counting from the time when the money entered into the account (27th july-23 aug). I paid for piority service and applied for my visa on the 25th of aug, I got a mail that it has been received on the 28th of aug. I didnt hear anything again and had to call on the 13th of sept. I also called again on the 20th and was told no decision yet, I was asked if I wanted to escalate which I accepted. I got an email yesterday (21/09/2017) dat decision had been made and I just picked it up some few hrs ago (22/09/2017) . The reason for refusal is solely my fault which I admit. The eco statement says I didnt hold the money for up to 28days, which means I shd have started counting from the 28th of july and not 27th when the money entered into the account.I hope this will help someone out there too wanting to apply for visa. Pls double check ur date n if u r not sure pls ask some one and be sure. Thanks

Well, my write up is just a fora to help would be applicants in such situation. I strongly believe prevention is better than cure. If you believe I'm the first that would get rejected based on that then I concur... but note that @bane001 also said he knows someone that got a refusal based on that...

Tush1986,

By how much ( in £) did the money in your account drop due to the rise in rates?

My friend was in that predicament like I said but got refused for a different reason, which was a mistake by the ECO. The rise in exchange rates caused the money she was holding in Naira to drop by just £50 below the required. I hardly think that's a reason to decline someone a visa.

The day the 28 day count started, the amount in Naira was about £1000 more than required.

It's out of the applicant's control; one can't keep making payments and updating cas every week. they too should know this.

Whoa, did you appeal this? I do understand that they follow their guidlines to the last letter but I think you should appeal this decision. I strongly believe you should. My friend had the same issue; she's about to send in an appeal application.

tush1986:
Rather they lick their wounds and maintain a sense of silence as other people go down the drain. I took the pain to sign up so as to address this issue and prevent a lot of people from towing this path as I am a fresh victim.. I had way more than the funds required when I started my 28days count however the surge in Oanda rate in early August made it fall below the required funds by 100pounds and I got a refusal based on that... the pain of wasting my application fee and priority fee is nothing compared to the feeling of losing a whole calendar year because of an avoidable mistake... to add more salt to injury, the fact that i'll have to state in all my future visa applications that have had a previous refusal is appaling... he who has ears let them ear... congrats to all that had a successful visa application. better luck for is dat got refusal next time

Hello House,

Can anyone please confirm if they have submitted an application with the rates on the day of submission higher than what you started your 28-day count with?

i.e have you applied with the amount in your account dropped below the minimum required?

Guys,

If someone's previous (expired) passport is now lost, will the person have to include a police report in a subsequent application for a tier 4 visa?

Note: the person now has a new valid passport.

Help needed!

Thank you

House,

what's the way out to the inflated oanda rates prior to submission?

I started my 28 day count in july when the rates were about 410naira to a pound, now its about 470.

Shall I proceed with submission with the rates I started with? Please advise.
