- Benfica’s 1st goal is to make the important Champions League group stage because they really need those 43 millions and that 1:1 vs PAOK at home wasn’t the best result, once again Benfica played well enough to win the game by at least 2 goals but like the other games, the team are creating a lots of chances but have issues to put the ball in the net, so I do understand that this pick has some risks because their mindset can be on other things, however, I doubt it here, it’s a Derby, everyone loves to play this games and for sure everyone wants to win it and it would be important for Benfica to win here to get an confidence boost for the 2nd leg vs PAOK in Greece.
- Another problem for Benfica are the big games against the big teams, Rui Vitoria track record against this type of games is awful, they are a great team playing against lower teams were their defensive issues aren’t showed, against the elite teams you can see some defensive issues, however, I wouldn’t put this Sporting team right now has an elite team, especially from what I saw from them against Moreirense and Setubal in the 1st two games in the league.
- Both teams have won their 2 games so far, Benfica showed domination against Guimarães and Boavista, even the game against Guimarães who ended 3:2 the mistakes of Rui Vitoria almost put the result in danger after his stupid changes, Sporting on the other side won against Moreirense and Setubal, even they won both of those games the overall performance was weak, the intensity isn’t there yet, the pre-season and all those issues that they had in the off-season haven’t giving this team yet time enough to get in better shape and play better in my opinion, overall, facing Benfica on the road so early in the year is bad for Sporting in my opinion, since I believe they need some more weeks to play on their eventual potential.
- Both teams are having injuries problems with their strikers, but in that apartment I believe more in the rest of the quality that Benfica has in this game, I like the pace that Benfica are playing, high pressure, intensity high and the only real issue so far is taking advantage of their goal chances, even they have scored 5 goals in 2 games in the 1st two league games, it could easily be way more if they would take care of their chances.
- I see Benfica on another level here, I can’t see Benfica not winning here, anything then a win here is a disappointment for the team in my opinion, the teams has looked good and playing with confidence and on the other side Sporting has looked poor, however, they won both games that the only positive thing of those two games, but in this type of games anything can happen, put I see more possibilites for Benfica taking the win here then a draw or a loss.
