Politics / Re: Fuel Subsidy Removal Poses Risk To External Reserve Growth – CBN by baralatie(m): 6:05pm On Sep 17
However,
low domestic crude oil production,
growing public debt,
lingering insecurity,
global economic slowdown,
and the Russia-Ukraine war, could pose significant downside risks to fiscal operations in the short-to-medium-term.

Politics / Re: N950/litre Dangote Petrol May Justify More Importation -marketers by baralatie(m): 12:17pm On Sep 17
Anither563:
The price is actually lower than the cost of importation so it may not justify importation.
The marketers themselves that are buying imported fuel refused to even state how much they buy the supposed cheaper imported fuel
As in
They did not state kpim

Kyari, playing smart as usual.
Meanwhile you have not answered a simple question, why would you and your cronies at NNPC still sell Dangote refined petrol higher than imported ones?
How much is imported fuel?

It all boils down to the government nothing more nothing less....

When the economy and government is working those in power are praised and if its the other way round those in power takes the criticisms also
You are still saying that the continuous loss of the 4 refineries is as a result of the fg/nnpc mismanagement of the refineries under the subsidy regime

Blaming this present government for everything that we face today is an unforgivable sin. Government is a continum and the rot in the system today didn't start today or the last ten years but we can start a count from the democratic dispensation. If there wasn't a rot, there wouldn't be thoughts about removing subsidy because subsidy in itself is not bad.
It is true that subsidy in itself is not bad
The problem the fg and nnpc that wanted to run oil subsidy mismanaged the whole subsidy regime and left the refineries unmaintained and walked into an oil import regime

Who is making them to operate loss
If you are buying at less the product cost is that not a loss

bdon123:

Dangote fuel is still cheaper than import....dont forget import landing cost is 1100 then govt subsidize it to 700
That is what they are not seeing

Dangote(nnpc pricing)=#950

Imported(nnpc pricing)=#1100

Yet a lot is been held back though because nnpc still has stocks which it owes marketers(priced at the import price)

Dangote Refinery’s gantry price is $0.55/liter. At forex rate of N1,637/liter, a liter of pms becomes N898.

Just imagine forex rate at N500/$. This same pms will sell at N275/liter. At N800/$, it will be N440/liter.

Our problem is forex rate.
Well if the government can find a way to mitigate against two things the price may come down
One if the government can successfully get #800 to $1
Two the price of crude to be low
Three demand to be stable

For transparency, Dangote should announce his price. It is that simple.
He has done that with nnpc
If you ask nnpc they are obliged to let you know
Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery Sells Petrol To NNPC At ₦766/Litre - Punch by baralatie(m): 4:29pm On Sep 15
ALTERNATEID:

No marketer will do that. They need to know the price before making such huge financial commitment. No sensible business will place such order for a product that is controlled without knowing the price per liter.
You have your answer...nnpc controls that product
Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery Sells Petrol To NNPC At ₦766/Litre - Punch by baralatie(m): 4:28pm On Sep 15
ALTERNATEID:

Why?
It is now the peregotive of nnpc to tell you the price per litre(at least that is the contract signed)
Unless you can as a third party outside nnpc supervision sign a contract with dangote
Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery Sells Petrol To NNPC At ₦766/Litre - Punch by baralatie(m): 4:25pm On Sep 15
ALTERNATEID:

Because they refuse to buy from him. It all has to do with the price. Nigerians should insist on transparency from both NNPC and Dangote. They should tell us the price from the refinery.
You are only entitled to know the price if you can place order for10 million litres with cash in ha account
Politics / Re: Dangote Refinery Sells Petrol To NNPC At ₦766/Litre - Punch by baralatie(m): 4:24pm On Sep 15
ALTERNATEID:

Can Dangote please come out to publicly tell us his price? For the past two weeks, NNPC told marketers to go and buy from Dangote and they refuse. Why did they refuse to buy from the refinery? What’s the price Dangote is offering them? We need all the information to be made public. Transparency is very important.
No he cannot

A subsidy of 200/L is not shouldn't be a big deal for the FG. The masses need this desperately to give them a sense of relief and hope, haveb suffered for months because of this fuel crisis.
Let us have this product at least below N700/L . It ll go a long way.
To sell below #700
You need the international price of crude to come down
You need the other refineries to operate and come into the market
You need to own the production technology so as to not incur huge overhead cuts
Etc
