A Fervent Prayer for Dr. Doyin Okupe

Heavenly Father, the Giver of life and the Keeper of souls, we come before You today with hearts heavy with grief yet full of gratitude for the life of Your servant, Dr. Doyin Okupe. Lord, You are the Alpha and Omega, the One who ordains our days and calls us home in Your perfect time. We thank You for the legacy of excellence, service, and courage that he leaves behind.

Father, we bless You for the impact he made as a skilled surgeon, a statesman of wisdom, and a man who fought diligently for his beliefs. We know that nothing is hidden from You, and that his time on earth was lived according to Your divine plan. Lord, even as we mourn, we take comfort in Your Word that declares, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they will rest from their labors, and their deeds will follow them." (Revelation 14:13).

O God of all comfort, wrap Your loving arms around his family—his wife, children, and loved ones. Strengthen them in this moment of sorrow, and let them find peace in the assurance that he rests in Your eternal glory. Let them not be overcome by despair, but instead, grant them the grace to celebrate his life with thanksgiving.

Lord, as we reflect on his journey, we declare that death has no victory over those who believe in You. "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" (1 Corinthians 15:55). For even in the grave, Jesus is Lord! May Dr. Okupe's soul find rest in Your presence, where there is fullness of joy and everlasting peace.

Father, we pray that his legacy will inspire generations to come. Let his unwavering spirit, his commitment to service, and his brilliance as a physician and leader never be forgotten. May his contributions to Nigeria and humanity continue to bear fruit in the lives he touched.

We commend his soul into Your hands, O Lord, knowing that You are faithful. May his star continue to shine in the heavens, and may his name be remembered with honor.

Rest well, dear Egbon. Adieu, great son of Nigeria.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray.
Amen.

On Excessive Government Spending.
Nigerian leaders live in unimaginable luxury, while millions of children, unemployed youth, and the elderly are left to struggle daily just to survive. Should 90% of Nigerians endure decades of deprivation while a small elite hoards the vast wealth meant for us all?
It’s time to demand accountability and an immediate reduction in wasteful duplicate government spending embedded in our budgets year after year. These resources must be redirected to social welfare programs that provide real support for our children, the unemployed, and the elderly.
What do you think? Share your thoughts and let’s discuss how we can demand change!
