PoliticsEFCC Releases Peter Obi Supporters Randy Peter And Mama Pee by Basemann(op): 11:46am On Jul 16
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released social activists Randy Peter and Precious Oruche, popularly known as Mama Pee, after both honoured an invitation from the anti-graft agency in Abuja.

The two supporters of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, regained their freedom shortly after midnight on Wednesday following several hours of engagement with officials of the commission.

Their release came after concerns spread across social media over their whereabouts. Supporters and associates had raised questions after the activists remained at the EFCC headquarters long after reporting for the scheduled meeting.

A fellow activist, Justice Cracks, confirmed their release in a statement shared on social media. He disclosed that he accompanied both individuals to the EFCC headquarters on Tuesday afternoon after they received the invitation from the commission.

According to him, the meeting lasted for several hours before the activists were eventually allowed to leave the premises.

“My dear brother, @Peter4Nigeria, and my sister, @MamaPee__ were invited by the @officialEFCC. I personally accompanied them there on the afternoon of 15th July 2026, at about 1:00 p.m. It was a very long day,” Justice Crack said.

He further stated that the activists were released at about midnight after spending roughly 11 hours at the commission’s office.

“They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, 16th July 2026. For now, everything is fine,” he said.

Justice Cracks also shared a video from the EFCC headquarters while waiting for the pair to conclude their meeting with officials of the agency.

Earlier in the day, concerns had intensified after reports emerged that the activists had not been seen leaving the commission’s office several hours after arriving.

The development prompted widespread reactions online, with some supporters expressing fears that the duo might have been detained.

Among those who raised the alarm was Esther Umoh, a photographer who worked with Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign.

Politics2027: Obi-kwankwaso Ticket Is Focused On Nigeria’s Future — Galadima by Basemann(op): 10:35am On Jul 16
A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has said the proposed Peter Obi-Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket is driven by a vision of national unity and development rather than ethnic or religious considerations ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking in an interview with ARISE NEWS, Galadima described the alliance as a “healing ticket,” arguing that it is designed to rebuild trust between the North and the South-East while addressing the country’s long-standing divisions. He said the partnership represents a deliberate effort to move Nigeria beyond the grievances of the past.

“It is our belief that this is the only ticket that can salvage Nigeria. Not only salvage it, but it is a ticket we call the ‘healing ticket,’ designed so that we can forget the past. We decided as a people—at least Senator Kwankwaso and myself—that we will attempt to heal the wounds of the past. We will make every sacrifice possible to bring about this healing between the Southeast and the North,” Galadima said.

According to him, the alliance is not about promoting an Igbo presidency but presenting Obi as a leader for all Nigerians. He added that both he and Senator Kwankwaso have spent years working to strengthen relations between the North and the South-East, insisting that reconciliation is essential for national progress.

Galadima also said Obi had committed to tackling key challenges affecting the country, particularly insecurity, agriculture and education, if elected president. He noted that members of the alliance would actively participate in implementing policies aimed at addressing those issues.

“I can bring up Dr. Simon Okeke. You know Dr. Simon Okeke is a highly respected figure around this part of the country, the former Chairman of the Police Service Commission. You ought to know him; he is an outstanding leader. I have been on this project with him for over two and a half years, and it has yielded some results. For the last year, can you point out to me one prominent Igbo leader who has gone out to campaign solely for an ‘Igbo presidency’? We are making Peter Obi a Nigerian president, not an Igbo president.

When elections like this approach, issues usually emerge from the Southeast, or people are attacked, or perhaps southeasterners are targeted elsewhere. Can you remember the last time there was a serious skirmish between northerners and southeasterners in either region? Is that not a credit to the work some people have done? If you do not communicate, you cannot understand each other. And this is what we have set out to heal. We have looked at several issues. What are the problems of Nigeria? We specifically zeroed in on the problems of the northern region, part of which is security, part of which is agriculture, and part of which is education.

“Peter Obi has agreed that if he becomes the President of Nigeria, he will not only address these three issues personally, but he will make us part of those who will work on these issues. If the government fails, it would not be Obi alone; it is us who were part of trying to see what can be done about security in northern Nigeria,” he maintained.

Defending the ticket against criticism, the NDC chieftain questioned why supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should fault the alliance, pointing out that Atiku had previously selected running mates from the South-East.

“We have been called several names: ‘Oh, you are bringing an Igbo man.’ Unfortunately, it’s not only the ruling APC government criticizing us, but even some opposition political parties. Instead of fighting our common opponent, which is the APC and its government, we are fighting ourselves.

“We ask: Where did we get Obi from? We got Obi from Atiku. He was Atiku’s vice-presidential candidate. Atiku ran with Senator Ben Obi as his vice-presidential candidate, he ran with Peter Obi as his vice-presidential candidate, and he ran with Ifeanyi Okowa as his vice-presidential candidate. Now we are hearing he might run with another south-easterner as his vice-presidential candidate. So, can anybody supporting Atiku be justified in denigrating us by claiming that we are wrongly promoting Igbo people?”, he questioned.

He maintained that the Obi-Kwankwaso partnership is centred on Nigeria’s future and not on ethnic identity.

He further pledged that the alliance would prioritise job creation, agricultural development, skills acquisition and economic recovery, arguing that the country needs practical solutions rather than politics based on tribe or religion.

PoliticsObi Hails Suspension Of WAEC, NECO Fee Hike, Calls It Victory For Nigerians by Basemann(op): 4:36pm On Jul 13
The presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has welcomed the Federal Government’s decision to suspend the proposed increase in registration fees for the 2027 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination, describing the move as “a victory for the Nigerian people.”

Obi made the remarks in a statement posted on his official X handle on Monday, shortly after the Federal Ministry of Education announced the suspension of the planned fee review following widespread public criticism.

He commended the government for responding to public concerns but argued that the proposed increase should never have been introduced given the prevailing economic hardship facing many Nigerian families.

While I commend the authorities for listening to the widespread public outcry and suspending the policy, it must be said that the fee was an unnecessary burden that should never have been introduced at this time of great hardship, when we should be doing everything possible to invest in basic education and reduce the millions of out-of-school children in Nigeria,” Obi said.

According to him, access to education should be expanded rather than restricted at a time when many households are struggling with the rising cost of living.

He maintained that education is a fundamental right and a public good that should not be treated as a source of government revenue.

Imposing multiple fees at the basic education level risks denying many children their right to education. At that stage, the State has a duty to invest in educating and preparing its citizens for productive lives, not to erect financial barriers that keep them out of school,” he added.

The former Anambra State governor further stated that effective leadership involves not only making policy decisions but also having the willingness to reverse those that place undue hardship on citizens.

True leadership is demonstrated not only by making decisions but also by having the humility to reverse policies that impose unnecessary hardship on the people. Many other anti-people policies deserve similar reconsideration,” he said.

Obi also expressed appreciation to parents, education advocates, civil society groups and other Nigerians whose opposition to the proposed fee increase contributed to the government’s decision to suspend the policy.

Earlier on Monday, the Guardian learnt that the Federal Ministry of Education announced the withdrawal of its June 18, 2026, circular conveying the proposed adjustment of examination registration fees to allow for wider consultations with relevant stakeholders before any final decision is taken.

In a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, the ministry said the suspension reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive, transparent and evidence-based policymaking.

The proposed review would have increased the registration fee for the 2027 WAEC and NECO Senior School Certificate Examinations from N27,500 to N50,000.

The planned increase had attracted widespread criticism from parents, education stakeholders and advocacy groups, who warned that the higher fees could further limit access to secondary education, particularly for students from low-income families.

Politics2027: Peter Obi Will Be Alive In 2027 But Will Lose To Tinubu - David Umahi by Basemann(op): 1:06pm On Jul 12
Minister of Works, David Umahi, has dismissed Peter Obi’s claim that his life could be in danger ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said the former Anambra State governor would be alive to contest the election and suffer another defeat at the polls.

Umahi spoke while inspecting ongoing federal road projects in Ebonyi State.

The inspection comes days after the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was frustrating his livelihood and targeting opposition figures.

Obi, during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, had claimed that virtually everything he does for a living was being deliberately obstructed by the government.

He also said he was being attacked because of his opposition politics and suggested that, if given the opportunity, the current administration could ensure he was not alive before the 2027 election.

Reacting to the remarks, Umahi described the allegations as unreasonable, insisting that nobody wished Obi dead.

“Nobody wants Obi dead; it’s not just reasonable. We all want him alive to contest this election and watch himself lose again,” the minister said.

The former Ebonyi State governor said Obi’s fears stemmed from his belief that the South East remained firmly behind him following the 2023 presidential election.

“What he is afraid of is because he said the South East is his catchment area because of the last election, which I call an accident of history,” Umahi said.

He argued that the political equation in the region had changed under the Tinubu administration, citing ongoing federal infrastructure projects and appointments given to people from the South East.

According to him, those interventions had convinced many residents of the region that supporting Tinubu remained in their best interest.

“We have come with visible development in the zone, and our people have now agreed with us that we are better off with President Tinubu to complete the good works he is doing for us than playing Artificial Intelligence kind of politics,” he said.

Umahi also renewed his challenge to Obi to publicly debate the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He said he was ready to defend the government’s record on infrastructure and inclusiveness.

In the interview that triggered the exchange, Obi had alleged that he was being denied entitlements and subjected to persistent harassment because of his criticism of the Federal Government.

He cited an incident at the Lagos airport where, according to him, his vehicle was clamped while other vehicles parked in the same area were left untouched.

He also claimed that some people now avoid greeting him publicly for fear of becoming targets of the government. The Presidency, however, rejected the allegations.

Politics2027: ‘Miracle Centre Presidential Candidate’ – Presidency Hits Peter Obi by Basemann(op): 12:52pm On Jul 12
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has described the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi as a “miracle centre presidential candidate.”

Bwala was reacting to Obi’s recent interview where he gave condition before agreeing to debate with the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.

In an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Obi had said he would debate with Umahi when he qualifies as a presidential candidate of a political party.

He made the remark against the backdrop of the minister’s declaration that he was ready to debate with Obi over road infrastructure.

However, Bwala in a post on X, questioned how Obi emerged as presidential because he never went through the process of primary election.

Bwala wrote: “Peter Obi is telling Chude on his podcast that if H.E Dave Umah wants to debate him, he should first qualify as a presidential candidate first.

“Funny; the Peter Obi @PeterObi how did he qualify to be a presidential candidate? Did he (Peter Obi) participate in any presidential primaries?

“In fact has he ever participated in any presidential primaries? Imagine a miracle centre presidential candidate questioning a successful governor and performing minister on qualifications.”

PoliticsAPC Officially Unveils Shettima As Tinubu’s Running Mate, Continues With Muslim- by Basemann(op): 11:10pm On Jul 10
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, confirming the continuation of the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The announcement was made on Friday during the party’s official unveiling ceremony in Abuja, ending weeks of speculation that President Tinubu might replace Shettima with a northern Christian to address concerns over religious balancing.

Among those widely rumoured as possible replacements were former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Speaking at the event, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, addressed party members and leaders, while the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, later confirmed to journalists that Shettima had been retained as the APC’s vice-presidential candidate.

The confirmation comes just hours before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) closes its portal for the submission of presidential and National Assembly candidates. The electoral commission fixed Saturday, July 11, 2026, as the deadline for political parties to upload the names of their nominated candidates.

PoliticsAPC To Upload Tinubu, Running Mate’s Details To INEC This Week by Basemann(op): 3:27pm On Jul 06
The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is on track to meet the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) July 11 deadline for the submission of its presidential and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general elections.

A senior member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke anonymously, said the upload of candidates’ details to the INEC portal had reached an advanced stage.

According to the source, the details of President Bola Tinubu and his running mate are expected to be uploaded before the middle of the week.

We are progressing smoothly with the uploading of the details of our National Assembly candidates. We hope that on or before next Wednesday, we shall upload the details of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate. We are completely sure of meeting the July 11 deadline,” the source said.

Sources at the APC’s ICT department also disclosed that the details of most principal officers of the 10th National Assembly, several serving lawmakers and four governors who secured senatorial tickets have already been uploaded to the INEC portal.

The development comes after the APC reviewed over 700 petitions filed by aggrieved aspirants following its primaries, leading to the replacement of six senatorial and 19 House of Representatives candidates across several states.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the party’s immediate focus is ensuring all approved candidates complete and submit their INEC Form EC9 nomination documents before the deadline, adding that the final list of candidates will be made public at the appropriate time.

PoliticsAPC Primaries: How Winners Turned Losers Overnight by Basemann(op): 3:17pm On Jul 06
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has dramatically reshaped the outcome of its recently concluded National Assembly primaries, replacing 26 candidates who were initially declared winners after reviewing more than 700 petitions filed by aggrieved aspirants.

The revised list, covering seven senatorial districts and 19 House of Representatives constituencies across Kogi, Abia, Benue, Taraba, Ondo, Niger, Kwara, Kaduna and Ebonyi states, has already been forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s final list of candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The move came just days after the APC publicly dismissed reports circulating online about the outcome of the primaries, insisting that no official list had been released and warning members to rely only on the party’s official communication channels.

Investigations, however, revealed that while the party was urging caution publicly, it had already begun transmitting the names of its approved candidates to INEC following the conclusion of its internal appeals process.

Among the most notable changes are the replacement of former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, who lost the Benue North East senatorial ticket to Senator Emmanuel Udende, and former Customs Assistant Comptroller-General Benjamin Aber, who was replaced by Senator Titus Zam in Benue North West. In Kogi West, Senator Sunday Karimi reclaimed the ticket from Aro Samuel Bamidele.

Several other senatorial candidates in Abia South, Taraba North, Ondo Central and Ondo North also lost their tickets after the National Working Committee (NWC) adopted the recommendations of the Primary Election Appeals Committee.

The House of Representatives list witnessed even wider changes, particularly in Benue, Ondo, Niger, Kwara, Taraba, Kaduna, Abia and Ebonyi, where several aspirants who had celebrated victory during the primaries were replaced with new flag-bearers.

According to APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the party received over 700 petitions challenging the conduct and outcomes of the primaries. He said every petition was carefully reviewed, leading to corrections where necessary, while unsuccessful appeals left the original winners intact.

Morka explained that the appeals process had now been concluded and that the party’s immediate priority was ensuring all approved candidates completed and submitted their INEC nomination forms before the electoral deadline, rather than publicly releasing the final list.

The development has nevertheless generated fresh discontent within the party.

In Ondo State, aggrieved APC members staged protests against the revised list, insisting it did not reflect the outcome of the direct primaries conducted across the state’s wards. Protesters accused the party leadership of overturning the will of members through what they described as “Abuja results.”

Reports also indicate that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is considering alternative political options for some of his loyalists who lost their tickets after the review, although the governor has declined to comment publicly.

Meanwhile, the APC national leadership is reportedly considering disciplinary action against some members of the Ondo State executive committee over their alleged involvement in the protests, describing the demonstrations as acts capable of undermining party discipline and cohesion.

Despite the controversy, the APC insists its internal nomination process has now been concluded following the appeals, with all approved candidates already receiving nomination forms for submission to INEC.

While the party says it has activated its internal conflict resolution mechanism to address lingering grievances, affected aspirants who remain dissatisfied are expected to explore legal options as the race toward the 2027 general elections gathers momentum.

PoliticsBREAKING: Peter Obi Uploaded To INEC Portal, NDC Claims Amid Legal Battle by Basemann(op): 8:14am On Jun 30
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says Peter Obi’s name has been uploaded to the INEC portal as the party moves forward with the nomination of its presidential candidate for the next general election.

The announcement was made on Monday by the party’s National Leader, who said the upload followed the restoration of the party’s access to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal despite an ongoing legal dispute over the party’s status. However, as of the time of filing this report, INEC has not publicly confirmed that Peter Obi’s name has been uploaded to the INEC portal, making the announcement solely the party’s position.

According to the NDC, the party has already filed an appeal against a recent court judgment and submitted an application for a stay of execution, both of which have been served on the INEC Chairman and the electoral commission. The party said Peter Obi’s name was successfully uploaded to the INEC portal, while the name of its vice-presidential candidate will be uploaded after the completion of the required legal documentation.

PoliticsINEC Finally Grants Candidate Upload Access Codes To APC, NDC, ADC, PDP, Others by Basemann(op): 8:04am On Jun 30
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued access codes to nine political parties, enabling them to upload the names of their candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The parties include the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and several others.

The uploaded candidates will contest for the offices of President, Senate, House of Representatives and governorship positions across the federation, excluding Kogi and Osun states, which conduct off-cycle governorship elections.

senior INEC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed on Monday that the NDC was among the parties granted access to the commission’s candidate nomination portal, dismissing reports that the party had been denied the required credentials.

“It is misinformation to suggest that the NDC was denied access code to upload its candidates to the INEC portal,” the official said.

The commission has no reason whatsoever to deny any registered political party access to the platform. I can confirm on good authority that the NDC was among the parties that received their access codes to upload the names of their candidates.”

The clarification follows claims by officials of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, which is currently challenging a court ruling seeking its deregistration.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, had earlier alleged that the NDC approached INEC for the access code but was informed that the commission would respond later.

We approached INEC to collect the access code to upload the names of our candidates to the INEC portal. They told us that they would get back to us,” he had said, insisting that any delay should not be blamed on the party.

However, the INEC official maintained that the commission had treated all eligible political parties fairly and transparently, adding that additional parties were expected to receive their access codes before the close of business on Monday.

According to the official, the number of political parties granted access could increase from nine to 13.

The commission also urged Nigerians to disregard reports suggesting that any registered political party would be prevented from accessing the candidate nomination portal, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a level playing field for all participants in the 2027 general elections.

The Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy (CFRPA) filed the suit before the trial court, where it raised the allegations of certificate forgery against the president.

PoliticsTinubu To Nigerians: Pay Your Taxes, More Infrastructure Projects Are Coming by Basemann(op): 9:40am On Jun 26
President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians and residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to pay their taxes and levies, assuring that his administration will continue to deliver more infrastructure projects across the country.

Tinubu made the appeal on Thursday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16–Ring Road III Interchange, linking the Jahi and Gwarimpa districts of Abuja.

Represented by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, the President described infrastructure development as the foundation of prosperity and a key pillar of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to him, the newly commissioned interchange is more than just a road project, saying it represents improved mobility, economic growth, and renewed confidence in governance.

“This is not just a bridge and slip roads; this is freedom of movement and time returned to the people. This is renewed hope that you can even drive on,” Tinubu said.

He noted that the intersection had long been a major traffic bottleneck in Abuja, causing severe gridlock stretching from Maitama to Gishiri and from Jahi to Gwarimpa, resulting in lost productive hours, wasted fuel, and economic losses.

“With this project, that story ends. Workers will get home earlier, businesses will thrive, and security will improve because criminals thrive when society stands still,” he added.

The President stressed that roads are the arteries of a nation and that connecting communities ultimately connects opportunities and destinies.

“Build the roads, unlock the economy, and let Nigerians thrive. The Jahi-Gwarimpa interchange is proof that Nigeria is not beyond redemption. With focus, discipline, and political will, Nigeria can deliver, and we are delivering,” he stated.

Tinubu, however, urged citizens to fulfill their civic obligations by paying taxes, saying government revenue is critical to sustaining infrastructure development and improving public services.

“Pay your taxes and levies so that government can do even more for you,” he said.

PoliticsI Didn’t Promise 24-hour Electricity, Tinubu Clarifies 2023 Viral Video by Basemann(op): 11:10pm On Jun 22
The presidency has rejected Peter Obi’s claim that President Bola Tinubu promised Nigerians 24-hour electricity during the 2023 election campaign.

It described the allegation as a misrepresentation of Tinubu’s remarks.

Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), had asked Tinubu to step down over alleged failures in governance, citing insecurity, unreliable electricity supply and worsening economic hardship.

In a statement shared via his official X account on Monday, Obi cited the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer as an example of how leaders should take responsibility when they fail to meet public expectations.

Obi also recalled Tinubu’s criticism of former President Goodluck Jonathan during the Chibok schoolgirls abduction crisis, when Tinubu demanded Jonathan’s resignation over insecurity.

He said Tinubu made several promises during the 2023 election campaign, including improvements in electricity supply, security and citizens’ welfare, but argued that conditions had worsened.

At present, however, these conditions have worsened. Electricity supply remains unreliable, insecurity has intensified in many areas, including kidnappings, and economic hardship has deepened rather than eased,” Obi said.

But responding, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said Obi’s comparison between Nigeria and the United Kingdom ignored the difference between both political systems.

Peter Obi’s latest comments calling for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation, based on a comparison with the British Prime Minister’s voluntary exit, are not only misplaced but also reflect a selective and distorted view of Nigeria’s realities since 2023,” Onanuga said.

He said Nigeria operates a presidential system, where presidents are elected for fixed four-year terms, unlike the parliamentary system in the UK.

Onanuga argued that Nigerians would decide Tinubu’s performance during the 2027 presidential election rather than calls on social media.

PoliticsThe Support Peter Obi Enjoys Today Is As A Result Of His Integrity And Prudent by Basemann(op): 12:37am On Jun 15
There is no Igbo Man supporting Peter Obi that is doing it because he is an Igbo man . The support Peter Obi is getting today is as a result of his integrity and Prudential financial management.

South Easterners are not the only people supporting Peter Obi. Obidient are from the six geopolitical zone , Nigerians who are tired of the old order of stealing public funds and converting public assets into private possession..

Nigerians have x-rayed the lifestyle and activities of Peter Obi within the period he has hood public office and have confidence in his leadership to lead Nigeria to the desired future.

Igbos have other notable sons and daughters like Gov. Soludo , Ex Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu , David Umahi , Owelle Rochas and others who are interested in the Presidency but cannot get the kind of organic Love and support Peter Obi is getting not only from South East but from Nigeria.

Igbos are independent minded people who do not cheer ineffective leadership . They cannot support someone doing evil because he is one of them. To draw the attention of the Igbo's.you must be doing something significant and effective.

A review of previous Nigerian election reveal Igbos supported Ex. President Obasanjo, Yaradua, Goodluck Jonathan with little support for Ex late President Buhari and the current administration. It is not out of hatred for Yorubas because there are many good competent Yorubas like Ex VP Osibanjo.

The current administration has failed woefully in all fronts , Nigerians stepped out yesterday to protest the w0rsening levels of inscurity and mass abdctions across the country. What was shocking to see was that Tinubu and his supporters had allegedly rented a crowd of counter-protesters, the majority of whom were Yoruba women. These women have children.

No reasonable Igbo woman will do that for another failed Igbo politician. ‎In case you don't know why Nigerians were out there protesting, the children who were taken from schools in Oyo State still have not been found.‎Let me put this into perspective for you. There is a community called Woro in Kwara State. From February 3rd into the 4th of this year, at about 5:30 p.m., insurgents attacked the community. From 5:30 p.m. through the night and into the next morning, they carried out a sustained attck in which many people were massacred. About 200 people were klld. Do you know how many people were taken away? Approximately 176 people were abducted, and they are still in captivity.

President Tinubu has failed . The APC led administration has failed Nigerians and ‎must be voted out. The last 8 years of Buhari and the current 3 years of Tinubu is judgement and curse upon Nigerians . There is no meaningful progress and development. But yet Insecurity is getting out of hand .

It could be your children tomorrow or brother that could be kidn--apped tomorrow, It could eventually be your children, just in case you don't realize what is at stake. This is the end of us if we allow this to continue. Nigerians have decided that president Tinubu and everything called APC must leave for Nigerians to have peace.

PoliticsNo Going Back On Primary Results, APC Tells Aggrieved Aspirants, Tinubu Silent by Basemann(op): 1:47pm On Jun 14
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has ruled out any review of the results of its recently concluded primaries, insisting that the exercise has been concluded despite protests and petitions from dozens of aggrieved aspirants across the country.

The ruling party has finalised its list of candidates for the 2027 general elections and is preparing to upload the names of successful aspirants to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal once access codes are released.

According to senior party officials, the period for primaries and appeals has elapsed, and there are no plans to alter the outcome of the exercise.

“We are not reviewing the results of the primaries. Everything has been concluded. We are waiting for the code to upload the names of the winners,” a top APC official said.

The decision comes amid growing discontent within the party following the May primaries, which saw no fewer than 54 serving federal lawmakers lose their bids for re-election tickets.

Several aspirants from states including Lagos, Delta, Rivers, Kogi, Zamfara, Plateau and Osun have challenged the outcome of the primaries, alleging irregularities, imposition of candidates and manipulation of the process.

However, party officials dismissed many of the petitions as frivolous, insisting that the overwhelming majority failed to establish grounds strong enough to warrant a review.

The APC also denied reports suggesting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had intervened in the post-primary disputes, maintaining that neither the Presidency nor the President had directed any review of the exercise.

Party sources further disclosed that candidates who emerged from the primaries, including those in controversial contests, remain the recognised winners and will be submitted to INEC ahead of the July deadline.

Meanwhile, some aggrieved aspirants continue to express hope that President Tinubu may still intervene before the final submission of candidates, warning that unresolved grievances could negatively affect the party’s performance in the 2027 general elections.

Politics2023 Presidential Elections: Wike, Tinubu And Obi Had A Closed Door Agreement by Basemann(op): 1:59pm On Jun 05
In 2023 presidential elections Wike, Tinubu and Obi had an agreement that they will never allow Atiku to became president because is the turn of south, the agreement is that either Tinubu came first and Obi second or Obi came first and Tinubu second.

Now in 2027 presidential elections they want to repeat the same formula either Tinubu win the election or Obi wins, that’s the reason Obi left ADC to NDC.

Peter Obi Is The First Presidential Candidate To Announce His Vice President Without Waiting - Tanko

In a recent interview on Arise TV, on Sunday, May 31, 2026, Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, spoke about the unfolding political developments surrounding the presidential ambition of Peter Obi and the early announcement of his running mate under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). The discussion focused on campaign strategy, political coordination, and the significance of early ticket formation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During the conversation, Tanko emphasized what he described as an unusual but strategic move by Obi in unveiling his vice-presidential candidate ahead of other contenders. He argued that this approach demonstrates preparedness, political clarity, and a deliberate effort to avoid last-minute disruptions that often affect campaign planning in Nigeria’s electoral system.

Speaking during the interview, Tanko stated, “Peter Obi is the first presidential candidate to announce his vice president without waiting.” He used the remark to highlight what he described as Obi’s forward-thinking leadership style and readiness to engage fully in the electoral process without delay or uncertainty.

Tanko further explained that early announcement of a running mate allows the campaign structure to stabilize quickly, ensuring that both national and regional coordination can begin without internal disputes. According to him, this helps to strengthen communication across party structures and improves voter engagement strategies.

He also noted that the Obidient Movement views the development as part of a broader effort to present a disciplined and organized political platform. He maintained that such early decisions reflect seriousness in governance ambition rather than political experimentation.

Concluding the interview, Tanko insisted that the move positions Obi as a candidate focused on structure and planning, adding that it could shape public perception of readiness ahead of the 2027 elections.

PoliticsPray For Mahmoud Yakubu, His Nemesis Has Caught Up With Him by Basemann(op): 9:40am On May 30
Popular clergyman, Prophet Odumeje has called on Nigerians to pray for the INEC chairman who was on seat when president Tinubu was elected as president of Nigeria.

He stated that since elections are approaching, Nigerians should not only talk but also pray for Mahmood Yakubu because he was the one who sold Nigeria to the current president.

He said most Nigerians did not know this, but Nigeria was sold to president Tinubu by Mahmood, and it has even become an exam question for children in schools.

Odumeje did not say what kind of prayer we should make for the INEC chairman but I am sure we all know what he means by "pray for the man that sold Nigeria to Tinubu".

Fellow Nigerians, say a word of prayer for Mahmood Yakubu, the man who sold Nigeria to Tinubu

Reality TV star and entertainer Whitemoney has shared a humorous conversation with his grandmother regarding Peter Obi's safety concerns.

According to Whitemoney, his grandmother, a strong supporter of Peter Obi, forwarded him a video of Peter Obi around a huge crowd without visible security personnel, and asked why he was exposing himself like that in public. "Why is Mr Peter Obi exposing himself like this in public? Does he think he's the only humble person? He needs to protect himself; he's the only hope we have" she said.

Whitemoney stated that his grandmother appeared to believe he had a personal relationship with Peter Obi and could relay the message to him. Whitemoney's grandmother has always professed that Peter Obi is her only hope for Nigeria and is concerned about his security.

He further called on Peter Obi to tighten his security to avoid giving his grandmother high blood pressure. Whitemoney stressed that being humble doesn't mean Peter should not move with security; he must protect himself as many Nigerians see him as their hope for a better country.

PoliticsNigeria Needs Competence In Leadership, Not Online Popularity – Atiku To ADC by Basemann(op): 4:56pm On May 24
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged delegates of the African Democratic Congress to prioritise competence, experience and national acceptability over sentiment and social media popularity as the party prepares to elect its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Atiku, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, warned that Nigeria’s current challenges require a tested leader capable of governing effectively from day one.

According to him, the country is grappling with economic hardship, insecurity, rising debt, institutional decline and widespread public frustration, making it imperative for the ADC to field its strongest candidate against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This is not a season for political experimentation. Nigeria cannot afford a learning-on-the-job presidency,” Atiku stated.

Without mentioning any rival aspirant, the former vice president appeared to dismiss growing enthusiasm around some contenders, arguing that electoral victories are built on political structures, strategy, experience and governance capacity rather than online popularity.

Elections are not won on social media enthusiasm alone. Governance is not performance art. The presidency is not a platform for improvisation. The ADC must present to Nigerians its strongest, most credible, most prepared candidate — not merely its loudest,” he said.

Atiku described the decision before ADC delegates as a defining moment, stressing that the party must focus on selecting a candidate capable of addressing Nigeria’s complex challenges.

At a time when Nigeria is bleeding from every pore — crippled by economic hardship, insecurity, rising debt, institutional failure, and deepening hopelessness — the question before the ADC is simple: who has the capacity not merely to campaign, but to govern effectively from day one?” he asked.

He maintained that the next president must possess experience in governance, economic management, coalition building and international engagement.

The former vice president pointed to the economic reforms implemented during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in which he served as vice president, citing the privatisation programme, fiscal reforms and debt relief efforts as examples of leadership and policy competence.

The economic reforms that helped reposition Nigeria, the privatisation drive that opened sectors, the fiscal discipline that contributed to debt relief, and the governance reforms of that era were not accidents. They were products of leadership, competence, and courage,” he said.

Atiku challenged delegates to carefully consider the implications of their choice.

“ADC delegates must ask themselves: do we want to make a statement, or do we want to make a president?” he queried.

He further argued that defeating an incumbent administration would require more than public excitement, insisting that the party must choose a candidate capable of building a broad national coalition across regions, religions and demographic groups.

The ADC must think beyond sentiment. It must think about victory. It must think about governance. It must think about Nigeria. This is a defining election. The party needs a candidate with national acceptability, political resilience, tested structures, and the capacity to unify disparate interests into one winning coalition,” he said.

PoliticsAnxiety As Shettima Waits On Tinubu’s Running Mate Decision by Basemann(op): 4:49pm On May 24
President Bola Tinubu had no hurdle picking the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2027 presidential election.

Unlike in 2022, when he faced fierce but ultimately weak opposition within the party, this time it is a mere coronation.

In 2022, he had to sweat it out with the sitting vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the former governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, and others.

However, times have changed, and the president is completely in charge of the body and soul of the APC.

In fact, nobody ordinarily should have summoned the courage to challenge or engage him in any form of contest, whether spiritual or physical, for the party’s ticket.

Now that the ticket in his hand, the next question is who will become his running mate: Will he keep his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, or look for someone else?

There were pockets of opposition in 2022 when Tinubu picked Shettima as his running mate. The resistance was primarily based on the country’s fragile religious composition.

Tinubu is a Muslim and so is Shettima, and religious balancing was placed on the front burner, especially amid allegations of a plot to Islamize the country.

However, as the 2027 polls draw nearer and Tinubu has secured the party’s ticket, there are indications he will run the race with Shettima. Some political analysts have described Shettima as the most loyal deputy in nearly three decades of democratic government in Nigeria.

The vice president, the analysts say, understands and interprets the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration without animosity or confrontation.

He appears to have studied his boss to know the best way to follow him.

Another factor working in Shettima’s favour is loyalty.

In politics, loyalty must be total; any suspicious move leads to friction.

Shettima appears to have avoided missteps and thus earned Tinubu’s confidence.

The issue of a same-faith ticket (Muslim/Muslim) appears to have faded, especially with the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, being a Christian and a pastor in the Redeemed Church.

The idea of Islamization cannot hold water given Mrs. Tinubu’s influence in government.

As a master political strategist, Tinubu may have concluded that it would amount to political suicide to drop Shettima at this critical time. Politics is a game of numbers, and the vice president is one of the heavyweight politicians from the northern flank.

He has his followers who are ready to lay down their lives for him.

Observers also point to the cordial relationship between Mrs Tinubu, and the wife of the vice president, Hajia Nana Shettima.

The First Lady founded the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which has impacted women and girls positively.

Hajia Nana Shettima is the national vice-chairman of RHI and routinely represents the First Lady at RHI events and outreach programmes across states.

As it stands, despite intrigues and quiet political manoeuvring, it would be surprising to see Tinubu drop Shettima.

But in politics nothing is impossible.
