kingobasi: The new session is starting months after the final exam cos the new VC has instructed everybody to vacate the school and hostel premises after the exam for renovation, but we pray for it not to occur. Its not more Dan a month or two. Good day.

sakaguchi: Let me delve in here a little, Uniabuja law faculty had accreditation ab initio. The deplorable administrative incompetence of the former Vice Chancellor made it impossible for them to retain it. Accreditation status is reviewed by NUC every 5 years. What this means is that, they visited law last year and were not impressed hence they suspended their accreditation. However, students already in the faculty can all graduate, only new admission has been grounded.

With all honesty, I don't know what will be of the 2013/14 applicants who applied for law and were given admission. One thing is clear, their admission came out before the suspension of accreditation. So, there may be two ways to go about it, they may be admitted on the merit of the above fact that I gave that their admission came before suspension, or, they will be admitted into other sister Faculties e.g political science, economics etc all in faculty of social science. However, as I said earlier, I am not sure of this.

For all those talking about tradition, make no mistake, this VC does not bear semblance in anyway like the outgoing VC, the man is posh and exudes respect sequestered in a lofty panache. So don't expect things to be as usual. During Nuhu Yaqub tenure, Post UME is on the first two weeks of 2nd semester. However, 2nd semester is already winding up. Our school will resume 2014/15 session late september or early October, my assumption is that post UTME will come within this window of now till then. Convocation is not for new students oo! Convocation is by February and by then, we should be writing 1st semester exams or be in 1st semester holiday. Please don get this confused. Matriculation should be by Dec or early January, this will be when the final list will come out I.e VC list.
However, for each of the list coming out (1st, 2nd or VC list) admission is going to be 50-50 between 2013/14 set and 2014/15 set.

2014/15 set who have not started reading should please do, nobody knows how the post UTME will be, even the VC promise not to interfere in the process which will be strictly handled by ethic committee, it may be oral interview, screening or written exams, so take note.

By God's grace, professor Adikwu will be the best thing to have ever happened to this school.
Among is 37 point agenda, uniabuja should by God grace never go on any avoidable strike, all faculties/dept without accreditation will be given, Pharmacy faculty will be created and drafted into the college of health science together with the 3 faculties medicine already have. Admission into pharmacy and law will be in 3 years time. Admission into engineering may be this year (I doubt) or next year. Admission into medicine, vet medicine and agric this year is 100% certain.

ANOTHER ASUU STRIKE 2014
It seems that everything is starting afresh again in Nigeria academic sector, which we previously believed must have been resolved in the year 2013.
According to information been sent to us, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASSU, is
currently accusing the Federal government of
reneging on some of the agreements that led to the suspension of a six-month strike that grounded the university system last year.
What brought about the strike is also the VERY
SAME problem which might capitalize into this if not well taken care of.
The academic union of Universities has through its National Treasurer, Dr. Ademola Aremu, lamented that the Federal Government was yet to honour her
agreement with the Academic union that clearly stats that N20 billion would be released at the beginning of each quarter to meet identified needs in the universities.
According to the union national treasurer, Aremu who during a chat with newsmen at the Post Graduate Hall, University of Ibadan, weekend, said:
“The government is yet to
release the money for the quarter, which they were supposed to release in January 2014.”
The treasurer also went further to stressed that the call was necessary to avoid the embarrassment
that the last strike caused the nation.
In his exact words:
“All the strike ASUU had
embarked upon in this country were basically
because the Federal Government failed to honour agreements freely entered with us.
“It is also sad that each time before we begin the
strike, we would give the government enough
warnings and grace to make them retrace their
steps. But they always fail.
“We don’t know why the government is always
unwilling to implement the documents signed by their representatives. However, we will continue to fight for the system because if the system collapses, we will collapse with it.”
In his own comments, ASUU chairman, UI chapter, Dr. Olusegun Ajiboye, said it was unfortunate that
successive governments in Nigeria failed to learn
from history as they always wait till major standoff with their members before doing the needful.
He expressed appreciation to the Nigerian media
for standing by ASUU during the struggle, adding that the support was not really for the members,
but for a better Nigeria.
Currently, Most federal and state Polytechnics are striking and nothing has been done about it, the question is this:
If ASUU commence another strike, when will it end?
Is the Nigeria educational sector crumbling?
Who is to be blamed for all of these set-backs
troubling the educational sector?

sakaguchi: Bro! Lemme be frank with you, nobody can assure you if there is hope or not, any school at all, that is how it is. What I can tell you however is that you stand a chance since you are above cut off mark. Another thing is that this VC succinctly decried how admission was being doled out to the highest bidder by his predecessor Adelabu and he assured that a body (not him) formed by staff called ethics committee of the school will be in charge of admission hence. Pray, hopefully, your name and the name of many whose hope have being hinged on this thread for so long will be on the lists.

A senior admin staff informed me the VC does not intend to rush through the calender to the discomfort of students. So in essence, 2013/14 session has being missed.

Both set of aspirants will be admitted 50-50.

Castro94: u guyz should stop posting trash on this thread; i got this message from a reliable source that the Senate has already decided that Joint Admission should be done again this year comprising of 2013 and 2014; going back to the memory lane, history also has it that the same was done in 2004; my advice to all d aspirant is that u guyz should not rely on those year 1 or 2 Students dat post trash in order to get attention; try hookup with a senior lecturer of the skul for update.
