Dogalmighty17:
OP, I am by no means a Tinubu supporter but I am very objective in my analysis. Tinubu did the right thing to remove subsidies on petrol. He however lacks the power to decide how to use those freed funds. The constitution doesn't give him that power. By the law that set up the RMFAC, every naira that hits the federation account must be shared according to set down percentages. Tinubu is powerless to stop that.
GOD BLESS YOU.
I LOVE YOU!

Nigerians are too Ignorant and politicians are really taking advantages of it.

What I expect the FG to do is to cut spending by reducing the civil service which has now become more of a welfare scheme than a driver of govt policies.

By cutting down, I mean elimination of most executive positions in the civil service.

Too many agencies around that do practically nothing of value and they have too many executives on their board of directors

A situation were the people now pay to maintain a bureaucracy that was meant to serve them is not acceptable.

There needs to also be total scrapping of some govt MDAs. Some do next to nothing and are net negative drain on resources. What exactly does the National Mathematics Centre do?
Another example is FIIRO that is meant to provide engineering solutions but so far is only in the news for the wrong reasons that latest being an appointed director being exposed for parading a fake doctoral degree and this is supposed to be the leading centre for engineering solutions. Universities must all be fully autonomous and should cater for only those who are interested in learning and betting themselves. The scenario where our universities are now killing fields and filled to the brim with gangsters, fraudsters and prostitutes should never be allowed to continue . Only in Nigeria will you hear of thugs murdering students on campus grounds Govt can use the money saved in managing those unrated universities for scholarship grants. States can offer free bursary to their indigenes but the FG must cut that shit now as it isn't in any way helping as the highest rated school in Nigeria (OAU) is not even in the top global 1,000 universities.

The focus should be on decentralisation and more states bearing the burden of governance. The FG should limit itself to diplomatic activities, securing our territorial and maritime borders and commissioning of infrastructure that will boost connectivity between states.

The problem lies with the 1999 constitution which is a remake of Ironsi's Zik handed down Unification and centralisation decrees.
OAU is not the highest rated school in Nigeria
The highest rated school is U.I and it has featured in best 1000 several times, infact it was best 500 at a time.Convenant University and Unilag also feature in best 1000 at some point

givedemwotowoto:
The biggest waste in Nigeria today and years prior has been corruption, not subsidy payments.

Consider the N210 trillion reportedly missing from NNPC alone between 2017 and 2023. That’s far more than all the combined petrol subsidy payments the various governments have paid between 1999 and 2023, estimated at N20 trillion.

So if you were Tinubu, which one will you go after first? The NNPC corruption, or subsidy payment removal?

Since he chose to remove subsidy rather than fight corruption, and it ended up hurting Nigerians the way it has, only for politicians to continue embezzling the funds and living large while Nigerians suffer extreme hardship, then he deserves all the curses and anger of the populace who elected him to represent them.

He failed woefully on subsidy removal.
You are just being emotional.

That provocative tand harsh statement..but some times people speak just to trend, just as I watched yesterday of a young lady clowning about her unreasonable and unrealistic expectations from the simp that she wanted as a future husband.....especially knowing that some yoruba people not even in majority have southern African mentality that anyone who prosper in their domain doesn't deserve to enjoy the rewards of his hardwork...but thank God those people thinking like that are in minority in comparation with vast majority of yorubas who understand business and are equally involved in putting hardwork ,resilience and diligence required for successful living...however is totally wrong for a man to pride it over his accommodating host ...this is against igbo culture of both accommodating strangers and honouring our benefactors
Lets talk about Igbo mentality,
Unfortunately 99% of Igbo will rather say they made Lagos instead of saying Lagos made them unlike what dangote and co would say.Dangote has appreciated Lagos in many fora depsite the fact that he contributed x100 of what Igbo contributed to Lagos.
Like we Yorubas,it is not in our habit to say we made our host community what it is.Ibadan has the largest concentration of non-ibadan indigens. Those non indigenes will rather say "Ibadan gbe wa" meaning "Ibadan did us good".Also, being accomodating is a pride in Yoruba land,Yorubas will be like "Ìlú ti o gba onílé gba Alejo" i.e A city that accomodate both indigenes and strangers alike. So,seeing a stranger saying opposite of this things to us is very strange. We dont say it to each other why should another tribe say it to us.There are many Ijesha,Ekiti,Oyo,Ibolo,Ibadan in Lagos they ahve never woken up one day and tell it to Ìjèbú,Ẹ̀gbá,Áwórì and Ègún that are indigenous to Lagos that they made Lagos!

Even the Fulani,Hausa,Ẹfik,Kanuri etc dont say that rubbish, why always you people?

Miggs:
Read the screenshot below fir my response:
The image contains text making specific factual claims regarding Michael Jackson. When evaluating these points against public records, legal investigations, and official documents, we find a mix of accurate descriptions of his public statements and demonstrably false information.
1. Sleeping in Bed with Children
Claim: "Why would an adult man desire so much to sleep in bed with litlle children?"
Status: True (Regarding his actions and admissions).
Details: Michael Jackson openly admitted on multiple occasions—most famously in the 2003 British television documentary Living with Michael Jackson hosted by Martin Bashir—that he frequently allowed children to sleep in his bed at his Neverland Ranch. He defended the practice as a non-sexual, innocent act of love and companionship, saying, "Why can't you share your bed? That's the most loving thing to do, to share your bed with someone." * Legal Context: While Jackson maintained till his death that these actions were entirely platonic, the practice was a central focus of the 1993 allegations (which resulted in a multi-million dollar financial settlement) and his 2005 criminal trial, where he was acquitted on all counts of child sexual abuse.
2. Travelling to Australia to Meet an "8-Year-Old Lover"
Claim: "Do you know how many times Mr Jackson travelled to Australia to meet his 8year old lover in the early 1990s?"
Status: False / Fabricated.
Details: There is no official record, investigative report, court document, or credible journalistic account matching this specific claim. Jackson did tour Australia during his Dangerous World Tour in late 1996 (and visited briefly for other promotions), but the narrative of a secret "8-year-old lover" in Australia in the early 1990s does not exist in any legal findings or public documentation.
3. Traveling to Epstein Island
Claim: "How many times did Mr Jackson travel to the Epstein island?"
Status: False.
Details: Michael Jackson never traveled to Jeffrey Epstein’s private island (Little Saint James).
The Source of the Confusion: When court documents and flight logs from Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet (the "Lolita Express"wink were unsealed and released by the U.S. Department of Justice, Michael Jackson’s name appeared in the files—but only as a name in an address/contact book or mentioned by witnesses contextually.
During legal depositions, Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre explicitly testified that she met many celebrities through Epstein, but when asked specifically if she ever saw Michael Jackson at Epstein's houses or on the island, she stated she had not, though she noted he had briefly visited Epstein’s Palm Beach home on a single occasion to meet with financial advisers. Jackson's name does not appear on the actual flight logs to the island.

dauntless15:
What i noticed about his father is different though, yes he was a hardworking, ambitious, doting father, but he's the central figure in Michael's demise, most of the insecurities Micheal has stems from him, first he made him alter his nose/appearance so many times by bullying the way he looks (big nose as he calls him often) this is why Micheal is obsessed with having a pointed nose, he never lets him be a child or have a childhood, hence his obsession with children and playtime this is why he built Neverland ranch and got so close to children leading to his child molestation accusations, he forces Michael to do things and made sure he doesn't make decisions on his own as an adult, which is why he lost his strong will and ability to say no to people, he did the Pepsi commercial that burnt his hair and made him a junkie because he couldn't say no to joseph his father, and without that burn he wouldn't be addicted to pain meds and he'd still be alive, he had no friends growing up so he surrounded himself with animals and toys, and this followed him to adulthood making him an extremely shy and misunderstood person who often craves connection, most of the things that went wrong in his life is because of his controlling and abusive father, the only thing wrong with the movie is the fact that they didn't exploit his love life, i grew up thinking he's attracted to men, this was because of several rumors, I didn't know he had kids and liked girls, alot of people thought so too, the movie should've cleared that, and the story of how he passed.
His brothers too were all handled this same way,why didnt they end up like micheal?
His father high handedness has nothing to do with his body dysmophia and weird lifestyle

Host78:
It's hard to compress a lifetime into a few hours.

And this is what the movie hoped to achieve: capture the whole life journey of the legend into a few hours.

Hence it was fast paced. A few missing pieces that leaves you desiring to know more about Michael Jackson.

You do will not see his development properly. The character development was mostly empty.

One aspect I would have loved to see is his relationship. As a star Micheal probably have more female admirers than anyone else.

How did he deal with those fans? We saw very little except for a girl, who was not actually his girlfriend.

Also you'll almost learn nothing new from the movie about Michael Jackson. Which begs the question, why create a biopic at all?

But something that really stood out to me most is the portrayal of Micheal Jackson's father.

He played a very central role in the movie and no doubt in Micheal Jackson's life and career.

And so I really do not understand why they tried to paint him as this cold and almost devilish figure.

At some point, his father figure role was almost designed to make you hate him and only love the mother.

But I don't think he is the villain of this story but instead a hero.

He was a mere factory worker and wanted his children to end up better than him.

"if you do not work hard, there's every guarantee that you'll end up right here in this small town as a factory worker. Now would you want that?"

He pushed the kids to be good at something. Not many fathers can see their kids and see the future ahead.

More so, actually push them to fly when the odds are stacked against them.

How a steel factory worker trained 5 boys to become the greatest music bands ever showed someone who deeply cared about his children more than a strict and wicked father.

Of course he could have pampered them like the mother and let them go to school, then join one of the boys in the hood and become nothing.

And it's so sad that towards the end of the movie, they try to portray him as the villain when everyone suddenly turned on him simply because they are now rich.

I mean, he built everything from the ground up. Mr Jackson not only gave the world micheal Jackson, he did the job of moulding him, shaping him up and developing his talent.

And worst still, every night when other fathers are too tired from work, he gathers the boys to practice.

That's not hate. That's tough love.

Another thing I love is the young man who played micheal Jackson. While you can clearly see the mimics in his moves, I think he did very well.

Overall, I think it's a good movie, worth watching but you'll learn nothing new from it.

And that's another angle, it tells you nothing new about the legend.

As a biopic we expect to see the legend in a different light, see aspects of his journey probably gathered from family members and close associates.

But the movie is more or less based on publicly available info. It's like watching what you already know.

There's absolutely nothing to learn new from the movie if you already read a few articles about the singer before.

Much time was spent rather on the making of his music videos such as thriller, beat it and wanna be Startin something.

In this regard, the movie actually lack substance.

There are so many direction this could have gone. I wonder why the dynamic between his father becomes the central role of the movie.

I'm not buying it that his father is bad or terrible.

Any human will be happy to have such a father who not only see them as other kids but as stars.

But not only see them as stars. That's the easier part and every father and mother think their kids are special.

But how many actually take the extra step to put that belief into work? How many fathers today will buy music instruments from their "factory" labor salary, come back from work and make their kids practice even when tired and exhausted?

How many will take their kids around town to book them for gigs, stay up while they play and look for ways to improve them?

Yes, he did beat them. But beating is not killing them. Little discipline goes a long way.

And I think this is a central role to almost any great person in history.

Serena Williams father was also strict with his children in their biopic. And like Micheal Jackson's father, he took his girls to practice regularly even when they don't want to.

He book their games as well finding as many opportunities for them as he could so they can shine.

Sorry Hollywood, but I'm not buying the idea that Jackson was a terrible father to his kids.
Western media is crazy!

Till today,I still dont understand how JOE ended up being branded as bad wicked father.

When we started this movement, I believed the goal was clear: to make Peter Obi president and birth a new Nigeria we could all be proud of.

But from the events so far with the NDC, it has become obvious that many people are more interested in what they can get from the movement than in the movement itself.

The NDC was already an existing party before the Obidient Movement joined forces with them. They had their structure and plans in place. They accepted us, gave us the top two positions, and allocated other positions as well. When the party later said let us share the remaining positions, some members became angry. Because they did not get what they wanted, they started insulting the party, its leaders, and even Peter Obi.

To make Obi president, we must be willing to compromise. You cannot walk into an established party and immediately try to hijack its structure. Some of those who felt sidelined even tried to set Obi and Kwankwaso against each other.

Ambition is good, but the ambition of the movement must come before personal ambition. If you believe you have what it takes to win an election, there are other parties you can contest under. You cannot ride on the momentum of the movement, and when things do not go your way, start insulting everyone and questioning the main goal because Obi refused to hand over the ticket.

For these reasons, as an active member of Obidient movement that have defended it both online and offline and right here on this nairaland forum from day one.
from today I, OredoPikin cease to be called an Obidient on this forum.

21. Periodic Auditing: The framework mandates periodic certification and operational reviews of state police performance against national benchmarks.
22. Emergency Federal Intervention: The bill includes an emergency trigger allowing the federal government to intervene if law and order completely break down within a state.
23. Vigilante Regulation: The legal framework provides a mechanism to absorb, regulate, and bring existing local vigilante and civil defense groups under official state police accountability.
24. Cooperative Federalism: The bill explicitly balances sub-national operational autonomy with federal accountability to protect national unity and sovereignty.
25. Collaborative Power Definition: It clearly defines the limits of both federal and state authority, ensuring that security responsibilities are equitably distributed between both tiers of government.
