mdeeokoye: Permit me to say a few around job search and a strategy when coming in to the Uk via your question maybe it may help a few peeps:- My self and my wife we came to the Uk October 2020, My wife was a student while I was the dependent. I got a job almost immediately and starting working as a software engineer in a firm in Liverpool while my wife focused on her studies as we literally sold everything and planned to start a life here in the Uk. But we *had* a plan. Our plan was that by God’s grace I would get a sponsored job and because she also had experience as well, she would also finish her masters and also get a sponsored job kinda both of us having sponsorship running differently to avoid stories that touch. By the way my wife has about 5 years experience as a BA in treasury management mostly around a solution called calypso(one of the biggest around). Immediately she started school she started applying for graduate roles because they kinda offer jobs months/ even a year ahead with sponsorship before you even finish your program. We got lots of rejections, too many for that matter. Most times she would cry as I was always consoling her that they are the ones missing out as she would definitely get one. As God may have it she got Accenture graduate role more inclined around project management. We were excited because at least we got the ball rolling as regards our big plans. 5 months after working in the firm in Liverpool I got an offer with sponsorship with another eCommerce firm in Leicester which required us is to relocate to Leicester, again the plan fell into place. Wifey finally graduated in October with a distinction( as our money no fit waste ). Plans changed as I thought that she can actually get better in terms of job and pay. We started looking out for Calypso roles and to my surprise they are high in demand here in the Uk and the pay was great. Of course We we’re looking at sponsorship but we did not mind having one without sponsorship but with a better pay as she can go Under me as a dependent but I had that believe that we can eat out cake and have it. We applied to FD and LSE as they had roles and pay structure was great! To our surprise we had interview slots. My o my the interview was a breeze as na my wife they teach the guys for the interview. FD gave her an offer as a senior BA after like a week and said they will sponsor her visa under mine and we were like should we take it, meanwhile LSE was in the pipeline and the interview was also a breeze off cause we stalled FD’s offer and waited for LSE it was a bit slow because it was via an agency and the agency was skeptical about sponsorship but the final manager that interviewed her was so impressed and pushed for sponsorship and eventually they gave her an offer!!! FD got back to her and she told FD that she has an offer now with LSE, and they said they will match the money and started talks about how they can strategise her into management in no time but come on LSE was just the height! She is starting with LSE later this month and all our plans since we came to the Uk kicked in, it was all God and preparation and opportunity! Why I am saying this! If you come in to the Uk in October or January start applying immediately, don’t wait till your masters is about rounding up before you apply, there are lots of graduate roles, I would reckon that more experienced roles would want you to start immediately and would not give you the buffer to start months ahead. Lastly you can always yearn for more! Go for it! You have it in you! Hope this helps anyone Please can I have your WhatsApp number or email ? I need an advice on some things please . |
