Having HND in computer science is not a problem in my own view, i grow up with a great passion for knowledge and western education which saw me gain admission in various institution including Federal University of Technology in Akure, University of Edo-Ekiti, University of Ilorin, Yaba College of Technology and the University of Lagos.

ICAN and it AAT are fine professional qualifications that have gain huge respect in the country. It is nice to see how many Nigerian are interested in the program.
But lately the program has experience a lot of devaluation outside the country. If you are a determined to excel as a professional accountant , auditor or a tax consultant outside this country, than ICAN is the last professional qualification that should come to your mind because it will limit your potential any where in the world, even in little-Ghana .
The program is a myth. trust me. I am currently studying for ACCA ,CIMA, CGA ,CFA ,CIPS, CIM and CIT all in UK and Canada and i will be leaving the country very soon to work as an international tax consultant in China with a huge pay. I once did ICAN and after studying few syllabus i known it is not a good program so i quit. Ever since i have try to convenience any accountant i met that ICAN is not a fine accounting program and they should go for something more useful like ACCA or CIMA, they are expensive but trust me, they worth very penny you spend. I hope you will soon see what i mean.

My Brothers (2) are chartered accountant with ICAN designation after their names but today they are either working with a bank or an audit firm here in Nigeria with little international prospect. ICAN did not make than to be international valuable. But my sister that is a chartered accountant with ACCA designation since 2008 is now in London working in ABBEY as a financial consultant. She is in Nigeria last month and Standard chartered bank offer her the post of deputy manager with just two year experience for ABBEY which she refuse. So please go to net and see the numerous advantages UK and Canadian professional qualifications have to offer.

My score : 63.125 (Jamb :260 | Post jamb:60)

Finance cutoff: 63.125

but when i checked my post jamb score it was approximated to 63.1

what did you guy think i should do.

You see there is this inferior look i get when I tell Unilag students that i am in YABAtech. They think YABATECH is only a College. So, i try to cover my identity which i am feeling bad about. We deserve some respect from our fellow students in Universities but when our government stated that University degree is superior than HNDiploma, who can blame them.
I am sick and piss-off about this school . I apply for a program abroad using my School ID and my application was denied because my school is a COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY, and only high institution students should apply- is YABATECH NOT AN HIGH INSTITUTION? My friend application was success because he is in Unilag, you see!
Any way, i will be sitting for UNILAG Post-jamb and hopefully i will be admitted in Unilag this year. Cos I hope been a University student will give me the respect i long for.
I just don't get it, with the rigorous academic activities will are put to at School, some people still thing we are inferior to all Universities in Nigeria. But i konw this, YABATECH is better than 90% of Nigeria Universities. Even Unilag cannot compete with us. The whole issue is like an IRONY! You can't just believe it. But, let us face where the world is facing,let us to Universities, Bacause this is just the beginning of the whole discrimination.

The 2007/2008 Academic Session of the University of Ilorin ends in May, 2008 while a new session will commence in September, 2008.

My name is Bayo. I am currently in Federal University of Technology ,Akure running my science Pre-degree program(Science students only) to study Computer Science &information technology and also a full-time student in Yaba College of Technology studying Computer Science. It has been an experience for me so far.I will be rounding up the pre-degree in july 2008 when i finish my final exam. Our first semester exam results was released on 2nd of June 2008 ,and it was not so good for many of us as many scored below 50% in total aggregate,the program is an i eye-opener of most of us. We must Score above 50% in all exams to be admitted for any course in the institute while courses such as Computer Science has as high as 62% admission mark.

It a very challenging for me because i start the progam same time i gain admission to Yaba College of Technology to study Computer Science late last year. I made up my mind to run the two together so i have to be in Yabatech and at the same time my mind is at FUTA. In FUTA, I stay at Akindeko hostel and at YabaTech in HollyWood Hostel. Since i started the programs, i have travelled to Akure from Lagos more than 10times. Since you must sit for Jamb during the pre-degree for program,I did JAMB and i scored 241 and apply to Unilag to study Computer Science.

Federal University of Technology ,Akure science Pre-degree program(Science students only) has really helped me. Hopefully when i am admitted to year one, i will be through with my National diploma.

If you score low in Jamb,you are not a loser and it cannot affect  what you will became in the future .Let them say what they like about you , it is human to do so. Your current situation can only affect your tomorrow if you allow it.You see, no body control you failure, not even the Devil himself.It will only take longer not forever.

Your success is in you own hands , if you believe you can get it then nothing can stop you.What make most people to fail in life is that they believe they can purse a carrer in the sameway and expect different results. If you fail using one style, in your next attempt try another style or perfect your skills using your initial style, there is no one-way to success.

Your goal is to gain University admission,isn’t it? If Jamb fails then try Pre-degree or better still try PCE ,if GCE fails then try NECO, If education fails try another thing(may be trade). Believe me, Life is easier than you ever imagine. Since i made up my mind never to fail again,i  experience failure no more. I acheive this not by constant prayer but by having a faith in potential and my God.

Don't wait for the next Jamb to know what to do with your life. Apply for PCE, apply for Pre-degree, Apply for diploma, there are many stuff to apply for.

I wish everybody could gain admission this year but not everybody who score above 240 will gain admission.Not everybody  who join admission will graduate with good grade.Not everybody who graduated with good grade will secure good job .Not everybody who secure good employment will be rich. Post Jamb is the best thing ever to take place in Nigeria Higher Institute in recent time . please let us get the meaning of this so called post jamb. this is not a test nor an exam (what most institutes did in their post jamb for 2005/2006 session was a error that has been corrented by jamb and all universities). Post jamb is just a screening execrise that every student must go through before gaining an admission into univeristy . in nursary, primary, secondary, poly and uni, even in non educational institute like talior, captanter and even bus driver, you must be about to prove that you are fit for want you are about to put yourself into. EVERY NIGERIAN THAT JUST FINISHED SECONDARY SCHOOL WILL WANT TO GAIN ADMISSION INTO HIGHER INSTITUTE BUT ARE THEY REALLY PREPARE FOR IT?. This is the main reason while there is high rate cultism and 3rd class graduates in the country for all they care is to just be in school like their friends.
