Appisko:I hope you are intelligent enough to realise that ad hominem is a logical fallacy. Also that despite your spirited attempt you are yet to dispute any of my points https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/Kenya-second-largest-exporter-of-goods-within-Comesa/539546-3418956-48imjhz/index.html https://www.ge.com/africa/content/kenya |
Austine1212:google should be your best friend. Keep away from drugs |
tylann:I have gone through the whole thread and oh my god. I mean I knew nigerians and black south africans were fairly intellectually challenged but I never guessed it would be to this extent. Arguing over simple verifiable facts. But the common things among them are 1) Their economies are not doing well infact nigeria is quoted to be the largest contributor of extreme poverty in the world after India. South afruca on the other hand is still undergoing an economic mismanagement by those who took power after apartheid. 2) Despite their large GDP, the sad fact is that their economies are still heavily resource dependent. |
68816419:No you meed to wake up. i have seen south africans and nigerians do not have facts but rely on rumour. I can't blame you i do realise that reality is not your strong point neither is education as noted by a south african professor. https://www.ge.com/africa/content/kenya let general electric tell you themselves why they moved their hq from joburg to Nairobi. |
rvp20182:At the moment Nairobi has about 180 km of commuter rail in phase 1. Current expansion in phase 2 will bring total commuter rail coverage to 240 km then phase 3 will add another 150 km on new rail corridor. The extra sets of dmu will coincide with the hourly service all across nairobi. The ultimate goal unlike many african cities is to make rail the backbone of transport in Nairobi. BRT as known in dar and other afrjcan cities will be pushed to tertiary cities like kisumu. On completion in 2022 the nairobi commuter rail will be moving 3 million commuters daily. That is why GOK is putting buses as a last mile option after alighting from the train the same happens in Europe. kisumu in collaboration with the UN are now putting up a BRT system like the one in bogota. But nairobi and mombasa will have rail as the backbone of transportation. |
In terms of gdp Nigeria carries the day in Africa. Kenya will need another 20 years to catch uup with Nigeria in GDP. Here comes the other side. In logistics kenya beats nigeria hands down. In fact it was in 2018 when Kenya became the secind largest logistics hub in sub saharan africa after south africa. It goes without saying that logistics goes hand in hand with roads, rail etc. That means kenya has better infrastructure only second to south africa in sub Sahara Africa. Mombasa port is currently the second largest port in sub saharan Africa and the fourth largest in Africa. Kenya has now grown economically to become the second largest exporter in comesa after Egypt. In fact the IMF noted that Kenya stands to be the second largest beneficiary of the afta after Egypt. Over 5 years Kenya has overtaken Angola to become the third largest economy in sub saharan Africa. In the process Kenya has more than doubled the per capita income and pulled millions out of poverty. In terms of actual numbers and percentage Kenya has less people in extreme poverty than Nigeria. Kenyan investment in technology has attracted the top tech companies to make Nairobi their hub in africa. At the moment Kenya is actually pulling companies from south africa like general electric which moved their african hq from joburg to Nairobi. Toyota is also planning to move their HQ from south africa to dongo kundu special economic zone in mombasa once construction is completed. Same goes for Nissan. I can say despite having a lower Gdp than Nigeria and south africa, Kenya has also done alot for itself in agriculture. It is now the 6 th largest producer and exporter of avocados in the world, tje second largest dairy producer and exporter in africa, the largest exporter of tea in africa and the largest exporter of flowers in africa. In fact the eu estimates that 40% of all flowers in the eu come from kenya alone. |
