NIGHTMARE0O7: U ar saying a different thin.. yes eagles droping points is there own fault. But telling me SA deserve it is a fat lie. Becoz the competition was not played on Level ground How was it not played on a "level ground"? Please don't start with the talk about Lesotho and Zimbabwe being southern african countries. You think Zim wouldn't want to ruin SA's chances if they could? Or you think they rolled over for South Africa? |

NIGHTMARE0O7: they dont deserve it they cheated.. im no saying Nigeeia desrve it aswell but u cant play 7 games all in ur back yard and not get more points. How did they cheat? Did they tell us to drop points against Zimbabwe home and away? Did they tell Troost Ekong to single handedly torpedo our chances with the mediocre performances he put up in these qualifiers? They deserve it 100 percent. They have the better football administrators and coach. |

Again I ask - what was the point of sacking Rohr? His three replacements have won fewer games together than he did with Benin Republic. The NFF is a disaster; heads should roll. Eguavoen at this stage is just collecting money (if he’s even getting paid on time) for doing absolutely nothing.
Anyway, congratulations to South Africa. They deserved it. While we were beating our chests, they kept their heads down and did the work. Now they’re finally reaping the rewards. |

How will they get exposure if your starting 11 is always gonna be figured out? The NPFL was much stronger in the 90s. If the likes of Kanu, Amokachi, Okocha, etc came up in this era, they would've been snapped up while in the academies before making their debut in the NPFL. |

Titian22: But oshimen can opt for 200k weekly now if they bargain well. Use his role model talk to him with the plan to review after 1 or 2 season That would be around 104k after taxes. Osimhen would accept 200-250k after taxes. Chelsea and Man United should be able to cough that up for a striker of Osimhen's caliber. |

Goke7: How competent are other African FAs? The issue is more with the kind of players we are featuring these days who can’t risk it all for the national team. How many players can risk that diving header by osihmen Many of them have a better, more organized league than ours to begin with. When Nigerian football stakeholders get serious about taking our game to the next level, it will happen. Blaming national team coaches for issues affecting our football-from the grassroots all the way up just won't cut it anymore. |

Goke7: It’s high time we review this over dependence on foreign based players, it’s not working 100% for us. Zeal and commitment always comes back to hunt us. We can’t continue to see our foreign based stars struggle against home based African teams. It’s becoming a thing of mockery, something is wrong somewhere abeg The NPFL is a joke. If our foreign-based players are 'overrated,' our local-based players are twice as overrated. The biggest problem facing Nigerian football is its incompetent administration. |

Chelle takes 20-30 percent of the blame today. The other 70 percent falls on the team, especially Ekong and Nwabali. How can a player as experienced as Ekong switch off at such a crucial moment? And why is Nwabali conceding from that angle? If that were Okoye, many of you would have cursed his existence.
Chelle is a good coach, but his in-game management is highly questionable. Bringing on a clearly rusty Boniface was crazy—he should have subbed in a midfielder (Aribo) instead.
Oh well. No World Cup for us next year. We've completely wasted this generation of players' peak years due to the NFF's gross incompetence. So sad. |

We look a bit disjointed sha. Great goals by Osigoal regardless. Samu should be subbed for a midfielder. Dude looks lost out there. I hope we don't play this 4-4-2/4-2-3-1 against SA. Early days for Chelle, but let this be the last time he tries this setup ESPECIALLY with inconsistent Samu Chukwueze starting. |

codemaniacs: If there was corruption, godfatherism, tribalism, favouritism, nepotism then Finidi would have never gotten the S.E job it will be Ndubuisi Egbo that would have gotten the job..
if there was tribalism then the N.F.F will be filled with mainly Igbos, Yorubas and Hausas
if there was tribalism then the S.E would have topped the group because the Igbos, Yorubas would have done everything to ensure their foreign born players are capped.. how would Eze, Tella be invited and not capped that is madness..
if there was tribalism then the S.E would have a playing pattern because most of the players will come from one ethnic nation and would understand each other better the same way the Catalans helped Spain win the Euros and World Cup and created a playing pattern that the whole of Spain has adopted and integrated if it was Nigeria another ethnic nation would have rubbished and talked down on the pattern..
if there was tribalism then the S.E would play as a unit because most of them will come from the same academy..
the only way S.E can do well is for both government and private sector to invest in training facilities... that's the way France gets people from different cultures to blend and play well and they also maintain the Coach Deschamps that took them to finals...
You cannot get people from different cultures who don't train together often and don't have a playing and coaching pattern to dominate games they will have to play Mourinho or Simeone pattern of football..
If I pick a team based on corruption, godfatherism, tribalism, favouritism, nepotism and with foreign born players then my starting 11 will be:
Karim Adeyemi as LSS Elijah Adebayo or Osimhen as CF Lookman as CAM/SS Saka as RW/RSS ( if he wasn't capped by england ) or Amoo regardless of his issues. Onyedika as CM Tijani or Onyeka as DM Osho or Udogie as LB Alaba as CB Akanji or Ekong as CB Ola Aina as RB Okoye as GK Rubbish. Take this garbage talk to the shitty politics section. |

Gajagojo: Football is not won by So called " better players "
It is set up
Now what is set up?
You are going for world cup qualifiers and do not appoint a coach. You allow the previous coach's contract to lapse two games into the campaign before appointing a coach in the middle of the campaign after two shameful draws Finidi took two friendly games . Was he provided with assistants or resources? No he was alone During those friendlies did the players all turn up? Even now will be be allowed the same assistants that Peseiro had. Learn to was not doing coaching, tactics ,drills etc by himself. He brought his people and even Finidi was part of that
Finidi is just there as the face of the person Nigerians can vent against you need to look deeper
If you want to blame a coach for a failed qualifiers Appoint him from the beginning and provide his needs
Which serious team is appointing a coach at this stage?
Finidi is not the problem Look deeper at the NFF Do not forget Peseiro drew against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. It is not apparent that he would have done any better.
The issue with Nigerian football is not sort term Qualifying for World Cup in 2026 is irrelevant to me
The focus should be on getting the right set up for the future Oh, NFF is incompetent as shit no doubt. They are foolish for appointing downgrade after downgrade since Rohr. No one is denying that. I'm not a fan for Peseiro too. |

Mujtahida: Few days ago I was like foreign or local coach is not the criteria, quality is. I take it back.
Foreign coaches are better for us not in terms of competence but at the level of perception and psychology. We believe in the white man. That's why our players respect them and diss our local coaches.
Abeg they should go and get a white man. We are not yet mature to believe in our own. We should've hired Tom Saintfiet after Peseiro left. He wouldn't have asked for more than Peseiro. NFF were being cheapskates by appointing Finidi. |

This kind of arrogance will get us nowhere
This is Our level today coming to terms with that is the first step to progress Go and look at Westerhof's games from 1989 There's nothing you say that will make me believe this is best this set of players can produce. We are not the best team in Africa, but we have better players than Lesotho, Benin and Zimbabwe. We just have poor coaches. Finidi is not it. |

Gajagojo: That is an opinion not a fact A good coach needs good players There is not enough data to establish that Like I said Westerhof had a terrible start
How many hours has he had?
He need at least two years in my opinion He has done nothing to show he deserves to be given that amount of time. We don't have world beaters true, but i refuse to believe we don't have players good enough to beat Benin. Honestly, we might as well have kept Rohr if the excuse is we don't have good players. At least he knew how to win when it mattered. |

Gajagojo: We have different priorities I do not think we should go to the World Cup because we don't have good enough players That is exactly the same place we were in 1989 when Clemence Westerhof came to Nigeria. We did not qualify for the 1990 World Cup and his beginning was a series of disastrous losses but we were patient and REALISTIC Many youngsters seek instant gratification without work. Without significantly better players We will be disgraced if we go to the World Cup We cannot defend. So why deceiving ourselves that we are entitled to winning like it is a right?
We should just use the qualifiers as an opportunity to build not deceive ourselves We are not that good. How does this change the fact that Finidi is not a good coach? |
